Yeah. This past season put on full display the pros & cons of having a two-way superstar like Ohtani. The Angels lost their best pitcher AND best hitter, all in one throw. He won't be pitching this next year. We can only wonder what that does to his hitting. He DID eventually go on IL. What Trout wants is at least as important as what Moreno thinks he wants. Frankly, that guy couldn't differentiate between Willie Mays & John Hale. Mike has a no-trade clause. He's going to want out, especially if Ohtani leaves. As previously stated, Angels fans suck. They scalp their tickets to the biggest games of the year. I know. I've sat in their seats. They hate LA. What a cesspool LA is. There's a burrito stand on every corner. You guys have crime running rampant. I hate the Dodgers. Say - how are our Lakers doing? I've conversed with these mental midgets. About times gone by. Chico Ruiz pulling a gun on Alex Johnson in the Halos' clubhouse. Tony Conigliaro retiring, saying he was close to losing his mind. It was an Angels pitcher who beaned Conigliaro when he was with the Red Sox. About the Angels' team bus rolling down a hillside. Donnie Moore taking his own life. Lyman Bostock getting shot on a road trip to Chicago. I get blank stares. Who was the Halos pitcher who died in an auto accident several years back? That team is cursed. Now they're cursed with Moreno as their owner. Mike can tow his personal fans up the 405. Moreno might not have much say. It depends on how decent Mike wants to be. And he seems like a pretty decent guy. Yeah, I guess a conversation with Moreno can go. Hey Artie, you need to trade me, get back some good prospects and get payroll relief because I think that if I stay I'm going to be gettting hurt a lot and spending time in the jacuzzi on the IL. Problem is Trout doesn't seem like that type of guy. I'm doing this by memory. I smoked a lot of weed back then too. I THINK Rickey Henderson said something like that once. He was one of the highest paid players in the game. A reporter might have questioned him on his salary, relative to games missed. Rickey (& Rickey always referred to Rickey as Rickey) said he might not miss as many games if he was paid more. I probably dropped that joint.

Man, when Rickey held that stolen base aloft, with Lou Brock watching, & said now he is the greatest of all time, he should have been bitch slapped.

Lou Brock had that really cool slide. I tried to emulate it. A pop-up slide. That way he was already on his feet in case the ball went through to centerfield. How many times do you figure Brock was called out because his momentum carried him into the tag? Today he would be safe because of instant replay.
Lou's slide was at least as cool as Trea Turner's. Or the way Andre Ethier would slide AROUND a catcher & reach back with his left hand.

The Mookster just recently commented that he had no problem with Trevor Bauer & hoped someone in MLB gave him a chance.
That can be interpreted multiple ways.

Have her walking a beat outside Petco Park. Whatever it is they call it now. But hopefully he learned a lesson. Deal with a real professional or find a normal chick.

While nothing is impossible some things are pretty improbable and a reunion with Alex Verdugo as some(s) are speculating is pretty unlikely to me. Boston would be foolish to move him before the deadline, if they move him. There could be a handful of teams bidding each other to get him then.

So our first big move is to re-sign a slow, out of shape, low D Maxine to $24 mil over two years with a $10 mil option for 2026.
Way to go, Dodgers. This will put us over the top for sure.
Sure - he can still hit for power. But 35 HR’s in what, 400 + plate appearances and a hit every fifth AB doesn’t justify $12 mil a year.
Maybe they’re just doing it in hopes of including him in a trade package. But honestly - who ELSE would want to take on that kind of salary for a DH that can maybe play the infield once or twice a week?
If he’s not traded, we can pretty much say adios to Martinez. I don’t see him getting a contract in that same range to platoon at DH.
SMFH!!!
GO DODGERS!!!

His hits count and he still has a potent bat. But I'll concede he's an adequate 3Bman at best but at least he can handle the position if needed, hopefully as a last resort. His natural position is 2B which he plays well and so with 1B. HE's a versatile infielder and he was worth resigning.

His natural position is 2B which he plays well and so with 1B. HE's a versatile infielder and he was worth resigning. He’s not replacing Freeman at first and his girth has pretty much eliminated his ability to play second, which I’m pretty sure is going to be manned by Lux. That leaves third, where he is a fairly substantial liability. Very limited range and a mediocre arm does not fare well at that position. That pretty much locks him in as our DH and puts J.D. back on the free agent market. Maxine was an excellent scrap heap acquisition a few years ago. But his production when we actually needed it was close to non-existent last year. A good deal of his HR’s were solo in nature and RBI’s were in games where we were either up by a bunch or down by the same. How many true clutch or game winning hits, HR’s & RBI’s did he provide? All I seem to remember is a LOT of K’s with RISP and I think we need a bit more production out of a clean-up DH than one hit every five at bats. I’d have given the money to Martinez if it was my team and looked for a decent hitting 3B via trade, free agency or our farm. What happened to Hoerse (or whatever his name is) projected to be the “next big thing”? Supposed great D and a big bat. Rumors of Arenado certainly are worth investigating and he’d be a HUGE upgrade over Muncy. Sorry, ‘21, but I gotta disagree on this one. GO DODGERS!!!

What's impressive is JD Martinez who hit .271/ 33 HR/ 103 RBI hitting behind and protecting Muncy all the while spending some time on the IL. The .200 hitting middle of the order batter has been normalized and has become a millionaire. Agree with jr about 2B too.
