Bellinger to officially be non-tendered, per Ken Rosenthal.

@jonheyman
Word going around now is Dodgers will make a run at Aaron Judge. Logical with $100M now off the books with Bellinger, Kimbrel, Anderson, Heaney, Price and 2 Turners off the roster. Needs include SS, 3B, SPs, RP and now OF.

Bellinger to officially be non-tendered, per Ken Rosenthal. Didn't think they'd let him walk. Been hearing VaGiants are looking at him. Might be because now it's thought that the Dodgers are in on Sasquatch (Judge) but I don't know pay top dollar for a guy that's struggled in post- season.

Do the Dodgers go with Vargas? Or get some insurance?

Do the Dodgers go with Vargas? Or get some insurance? I'm betting they resign JT dirt cheap to platoon with Vargas and DH. Don't see any team other than the Yankees getting Judge, and if it was a west coast team it wouldn't be us paying more than the Giants.

Pool on how much Cody Bellinger gets. I say 10 million dollars. A little over half of what arbitration would have netted him. I wouldn't be surprised if not all of that was guaranteed.

Some writer on FANSIDED said we need to replace Tyler Anderson. He seemed to be under the impression we could do that for a similar contract. He named Jacob DeGrom, Justin Verlander & Carlos Rodon.
Sure...
Verlander will get a Max Scherzer type contract. And who wants to pay him that kind of money & hand him a start in the postseason? DeGrom can't stay off the IL. Rodon is the only one that makes sense.
Same site. Different story. I didn't notice if it was the same author. This guy said Rodon will be looking for at least 20 million dollars a year. This guy used Zack Wheeler as an example. 5 years & 118 million dollars. How is that comparable to 3 years & 39 million?
I really hope the Dodgers have a plan. Right now it looks like Arte Moreno actually robbed the Dodgers.

Right now it looks like Arte Moreno actually robbed the Dodgers. Yeah - but they’ll still suck. But unless they felt last year was a fluke, LA would’ve been smart to at least make Anderson an offer, especially at that price. Kersh is going to be a question mark and will undoubtedly do an IL stint or two. Can Goose come close to duplicating 2022? May looked shaky at best when he returned. Does Pepiot get a shot in the rotation? We know Eew will be solid; is Bauer going to be a factor? And that’s just the starters, none of which can be counted on for more than five or six innings every start, thanks to the “new” book of analytics. Our pen is going to have to ready to go three or four every night and we have no permanent closer. Lots of questions and holes for Fraudman and company to address before we head to Glendale. GO DODGERS!!!

GO DODGERS!!! Dodgers will be cleaning house like no winter in recent memory. I'm not at all worried about our rotation: that's the one area the Dodgers almost always come out on top, and if not, never worse than second. Nor am I worried about the bullpen and closer. As long as Kimby gets sent packing, we'll be alright in that department. We'll get a new SS and CF for sure, and we'll see about 3B.

I just read an article about James Outman. Who else knew Bellinger ranked 32nd out of 51 qualifying outfielders in defensive runs saved last year? We've been deluding ourselves. It isn't just Cody's bat that disappeared.
Maybe Outman & Vargas both make impacts.

Another writer on FANSIDED asked if the Pirates should take a chance on Bellinger. That's the low rent district. No way Cody gets anywhere near ten million dollars in a third tier market like that.
Good luck, Cody. Maybe we get you back if that's the best an open market can do for you. It would be a crowded outfield though. He can still play first too. Which would basically be giving Freeman a blow in late innings. I assume Muncy & Smith will be the primary DH's.

Scott Boras says he's been fielding multi-year contract offers for Bellinger, but says he's looking for a one year deal so Cody can hit free agency at age 28.
Excuse me; isn't Bellinger a free agent right now? And why not sign a one or two year contract with an opt-out clause?
The Blue Jays are said to be interested. I'm not sure that isn't Boras putting words in their mouth though.

Saw a sideshow of the best hitters in history. Joe DiMaggio was #24. Joey Votto was #17.
Riiight...
