Aaron Judge turned down a seven year, 213.5 million dollar contract from the Yankees. And there's some speculation the Gnats will go after him. But, I'd think starting pitching is a much higher priority for them. And also that he'll wear the BLUE for the next several seasons. We already have the Mook for about at least eight more years and the Free Man also. Or he might be a Met, who knows? And there's chatter in the Blue Jay's nation that they'll accept a trade for Cody in exchange for Vlad Guerrero JR. I think that'd be great for us, and the Jays, to have the Judge AND Belli in the same OF, but we'll see.

Treinen had surgery on both his rotator cuff AND labrum. He's expected to be out for ten months. Then he would have to build up arm strength. He's 34 years old. The Dodgers owe him 8 million dollars next year. There's an option for 2024.
It sounds like his career is very likely over.

Pool on Trea Turner's next contract. I wouldn't go beyond seven years for a speedy shortstop. So much of his game is predicated on speed. I would only go to eight years if that final season was an incentive laden option year. I think he'll get a minimum of 30 million per, on average. Watch some fool give him close to 300 million though. I sincerely hope that fool isn't us.
I've always liked Trea. It was a great trade when we got him. That's just insane money & years. 7 years & 200-210 million sounds a lot better than 8 years & pushing 300 million. He still has to prove he can perform in the postseason. He hit better this time. His defense was shaky though.
So, IF he re-signs with the Dodgers, I would put a roof of 215 million for his services. The extra 5 million is to buy him out. Which I'm pretty sure they'll do.

I pretty much can agree with that. I don't think the Dodgers are gonna seriously be in on him though. Think they would have tried offering an extension. Just feels like they know he doesn't want to be on the West coast. I don't really see them signing anybody of significance this off-season beyond Kershaw. No way Judge comes here, the other shortstops out there seem unlikely when it looks like they want Lux in there. Maybe some reclamation pitchers as usual, but anything else I'll be surprised if it's a high profile addition. Gonna see a lot of prospects all over the field this year. Maybe if we go in looking weaker than usual and barely make the postseason they'll perform better. Over performing in the regular season with stacked lineups sure hasnt paid off with championships...

Hopefully the Braves throw away Dansby Swanson. I like Lux at second.

Costas didn't ever say to Manjerk "many fans don't want any rule changes at all". Manjerk said that he thinks fans like the changes. What poll is he reading?

Here's another star Japenese starting pitcher. I say we pass on him. We already have Clayton, Julio, Tony and Dustin, with Anderson and the Meany whose status are both unclear and even if neither of them sign with us remember Pepperman, Miller and Stone who are chomping at the bit to make the rotation. Our starting pitching depth is already the envy of the other 29 teams, even with Walkman on the shelf for next year.

Trea Turner & Dansby Swanson both rejected their qualifying offers. Joc Pederson accepted his.
Tyler Anderson agreed to a three year contract with the Angels. Damn!
Dave Roberts (or Andrew Friedman) is one of three finalists for NL Manager of the Year. It's announced tonight.

Anderson got three years & $39,000,000. Not a dumb contract at all. Suddenly the Angels' starting rotation looks better. They'll have Ohtani, Patrick Sandoval & Anderson.

Guess LA feels like they have enough talent in the minors to fill his spot in the rotation. But damn - that dude was nearly unhittable last year and put up 17 W’s as a starter. Guess they might also be thinking last year was a fluke and he’d be hard pressed to duplicate another season like that. So, we have Kersh, May and Catman and two open spots, which will become three at least a couple of times during the season with Clayton’s usual IL stint(s). That’s going to put a lot of pressure on more than a couple of rookie hurlers. GO DODGERS!!!
