He’s one of those “Cinderella stories” of a guy who languished for years in mediocrity before becoming a Dodger. But it just seemed to me that for every big hit and HR with a game on the line, there were FAR too many other instances that he K’d or hit into a DP and almost always left RISP on base. And the simple fact that he either couldn’t or wasn’t allowed to lay down a bunt or take a half swing to put the ball in play to a WIDE OPEN left side of the infield was infuriating. I know that play doesn’t exist in the Freeman / Roberts Book of Analytics, but damn - it was right there for the taking EVERY time he stepped to the plate. You’d have thought he might just take matters into his own hands and lay one down just to show it could be done and how effective it would have been to score runs. But Max seems to only have one thing in mind and one swing in his arsenal and that is the one for the fences. And that’s not ideal or what we need at the top of the order. GO DODGERS!!!

I've been also hearing Freddie Freeman if Seager goes elsewhere. Hmm very interesting. If he'll go for six years. No more than six years, unless it's another year based on incentives he won't reach. We aren't the Angels.

The Twitterites are all lauding and thanking the baseball gods for today’s historic hiring of Daisy Roberts. There were a few criticisms, but most were kissing the taint of our anointed one.
His record, his clubhouse management, blah, blah, blah.
I was quick to point out that he’s also had the best roster of players and pitchers (and highest payroll) for most of his tenure and as stacked as his teams were, an orangutan could have managed them to those records.
I also cited five (and there were certainly more!) postseason blunderus decisions he made, but could only come up with one good one (using Urias in relief last year).
He may be the greatest thing since sliced bread in the eyes of many, but to me he’s simply a clone of Rusty Baker. Excellent manager in season, dog turd in postseason.
GO DODGERS!!!

I've been also hearing Freddie Freeman if Seager goes elsewhere. Hmm very interesting. No! First of all, 1B is the easiest position to fill. Second, it'll cost us hundreds of megabucks to lock up Seagar, Taylor and Jansen, not to mention Scherzer. And I've said this over and over, our team mustn't look like George Stienbrenner's Yanks, a team of imported superstars while the farm is largely neglected. We're in a very awkward position this winter: the four players mentioned above must be locked up, but at the same time, we don't want a runaway team payroll, again, like those same Yanks. If we keep Mad Max, he'll be at 1B again this coming year. And I'm coming around to the possibility that he could be the odd man out. And what about signing Suzuki? Since he'll technically be a rookie, his salary will be relatively cheap. Of course, that's only IF we sign him, but Cody could play 1B, though personally, I prefer him in CF. So nay on signing Freeman. As for the rotation, maybe signing Heaney and Beau Burrows isn't so dumb after all. After all, our team has a great history of claiming players off he scrap heap and making into very productive players, like the aforementioned Mad Max, Justin Turner, Alex Vesia and others.

I agree about finding 1st basemen on trees. The thing I've thought about this is that he will be cheaper than Seager and will last longer being that he is a good hitter and the DH will soon be in play. For me I'd do Baez or Bryant and go like this: 3B Baez or Bryant SS Trea 2B Lux 1B Bellinger RF Suzuki CF Mookie LF Pollock DH JT And whatever money you save from Seager you put it into future contracts like Buehler, maybe Trea, maybe Bellinger etc.

There's just no use in resisting it since the NL is about the only league in the world that still doesn't have it so it's time to throw in the towel. Still, when I think of Rob Manfred and his henchmen, the DH seems like a good thing, so lesser of two evils here. So, assuming we sign Suzuki, Bryant/Baez, how much money will be available to lock up Scherzer or another good SP and Jansen or another closer? As I said, we're in a pretty awkward position this winter. But here's the possible batting order: Mookie, CF Trea, SS Suzuki, RF Cody, 1B Bryant/Baez, 3B Smith, C Justin, DH AJ, LF Lux, 2B Wow, what a lineup!

With the Seager's , Muncy's and hopefully Bauer's money it should be good. We also don't need 5 aces my friend. So, if Scherzer walks I'm totally fine with Buehler and Urias headlining.
