Too many stats. He sucks. Don't we already have one of these that we’re already overpaying for? Our guru pitching coaches didn’t seem to do much for David Price. If they’re going to throw this guy out there every five days, we’re going to need a helluva lot more offense than we so inconsistently showed in 2021. GO DODGERS!!!

Tremendous success throwing a fastball after a changeup on 2-1 counts against teams with losing records.

I know Price was a “throw in” on the Betts trade, but like you, I’ve never been impressed by the dude and if he never dons LA blue again, I won’t shed a single tear. I don’t know much about Heaney other than what I’ve read and since he was a Angle, I don’t expect a whole lot because let’s face it - other than Trout & Otani, that team is a white hot mess that makes Lindsay Lohan look like a debutante. I like what they are doing with Kersh and allowing him time to decide what HE wants to do, rather than putting a QO on the table. I think that’s smart and if he can get his arm issues solved, he’ll finish his career in LA. With the two dodo birds still in charge, we’re going to need to keep as much of this team in tact as possible. I know they can’t keep & sign everybody, but they will need to find like replacements just to offset the “questionable” decisions of Daisy and his stringmaster. I’d like to see some new coaching as well. Our defense was dreadful last year as was our baserunning. Prior may have been one of the greats that never could overcome his injuries, but he hasn’t come close to Honeycutt as a coach. With only two sure thing starters at this point, there’s certainly plenty of work to be done by the boys writing the cheques. Let’s hope they don’t continue to throw away too many more $8.5 mils on fifth man (at best!) starting pitchers. GO DODGERS!!!

Everyone goes on the IL nowadays for every sundry injury. Teams carry more pitchers because they go to the pen so often. Players are juggled from position to position. Versatility is prized way more than expertise at a single position.

I'm watching the AFL game between east and west and Bobby Miller, our #4 prospect, looked good. However, he missed the strike zone a little too much and the commentators said he could be in the rotation next spring if only he could throw more strikes. The pitches that missed the zone didn't miss by much but they were all over within the zone and he consistently threw at 98. His 8.68 ERA is understandable and he needs to command his pitches better before he joins our rotation. He struggled at AA with a 4.82 ERA so making the bigs next spring is quite a jump.
Landon Knack, our #8, followed him and they said he has the best control on either team. However, his pitches were up in the zone. He got the first two hitters out on first pitch grounders, then served up a homer, then a K. He allowed six homers in 22 innings at AA and obviously he needs to get that down, but he too is expected to make the varsity sometime next year.

B rumors: Dodgers talking Luis Castillo and Sonny Gray; Brewers acquire Mike Brosseau from Rays
Here's what's buzzing around MLB for Saturday
Dayn Perry By Dayn Perry & Mike Axisa
We're clear of the recent general managers' meetings, and that means we're moving deeper into the MLB offseason calendar. While most of the focus right now is on the ongoing collective bargaining agreement negotiations and hopes that we'll avoid a labor stoppage, it's still the hot stove season. That means rumors and in some instances actual transactions. Speaking of which, here's a roundup of Saturday's supply of those things. Dodgers interested in Castillo, Gray
The Dodgers have interest in Reds right-handers Luis Castillo and Sonny Gray, reports Bob Nightengale of USA Today. It's unclear whether the two sides seriously discussed (or are still discussing) a trade, or whether the Dodgers were just doing due diligence. Cincinnati has cut payroll early in the offseason, leading to speculation Castillo and Gray could be on the move. If they are truly available, dozens of teams figure to check in. There would be a bidding war for both.
Los Angeles signed Andrew Heaney to one-year contract last week and right now he joins Walker Buehler, Luis Urías, David Price, and Tony Gonsolin in the team's projected rotation. The Dodgers are expected to try to re-sign both Max Scherzer and Clayton Kershaw, though Kershaw's health remains a question. The safe bet is on the Dodgers bringing in another two starting pitchers this offseason, either Scherzer and Kershaw, Castillo and Gray, or two others entirely.

The question is, who do we trade? In the past, we've acquired some good players via three way trade and it's cost us minnimumly. While we await Dustin's full healing and Bauer's fate for next year, we have to shore up the rotation. Last year, we had eight pitchers to choose from to fill out the rotation. I hope we can unload Price. I'd hate to lose Pepiot, Miller or Knack. We already lost Gray last year in the Scherzer trade.

LUIS Urias? I thought it was Me & JULIO down by the schoolyard.
My semi-senile grandmother (on my father’s side) had a driver when she lived in SoCal named Luis. She used to call him “Lewis”.
He used to call her “loco”. She didn’t speak a word of Spanish and thought that was just his “pet” name for her.
GO DODGERS!!!

Freddie Freeman leave the Braves? Five potential suitors if first baseman pulls free agent surprise Atlanta is the favorite to keep its franchise cornerstone, but there's plenty of interest around Freeman R.J. Anderson If there was one top free agent whose destination seemed apparent heading into the offseason, it was Freddie Freeman. The veteran first baseman, long a fixture with the Atlanta Braves, still seems unlikely to leave town just weeks after helping the franchise win its first World Series championship in more than two decades. There is a difference between "improbable" and "impossible," however, and that difference is worth remembering until Freeman puts his pen to paper bearing the Braves' letterhead. Besides, Freeman may owe it to himself to feign interest in other clubs, even if it's simply a negotiating ploy to close the $65 million gap between his desired deal and Atlanta's proposal, as reported by USA Today's Bob Nightengale. We here at CBS Sports are nothing if not the messy, speculative type. As such, we wanted to take a swing at highlighting five other teams who could get involved on Freeman if talks with the Braves fail to progress at an acceptable pace. Before we go any further, here's what CBS Sports wrote about Freeman when we ranked him as the fifth best free agent available on the market: It's hard to imagine the Braves allowing Freeman to leave. Still, we're including him for posterity's sake. Freeman is a sensational hitter who hasn't posted an OPS+ of less than 130 since he was a 22-year-old in 2012. He's also a mighty fine first baseman, and he's become a bastion of durability as of late: over the last four years, he's appeared in 539 of the Braves' 545 games (that's 98.9 percent, for those without access to a calculator). It's to be seen what kind of term Freeman seeks, but on paper he seems like someone who should age gracefully. Now, onto the speculation. (Do note the teams are ranked in order of perceived likelihood.) Los Angeles Angels 3. Los Angeles Angels General manager Perry Minasian is familiar with Freeman from their shared days with the Braves organization, and owner Arte Moreno loves him a big-time free-agent signing. Even so, the Angels would seem unlikely to prioritize Freeman to starting pitching given they had Jared Walsh on hand. Plus, Moreno might have reservations about locking in a first baseman to a long-term deal given how Albert Pujols' time with the organization played out. Los Angeles DodgersThe Dodgers are similar to the Giants in the respects that they have to replace a number of notable players and that they tend to favor protean defenders. Still, the Dodgers under Andrew Friedman's watch have never shied away from adding elite talent whenever and however they can. Freeman certainly qualifies, and the Dodgers' inherent flexibility could allow them to fold him into the lineup if they so desire. www.baseball-reference.com/players/f/freemfr01.shtml

He'll turn 33 in September. Born in Villa Park, California. That's an affluent area. I don't see us getting caught up in a bidding war even though Freeman is an elite hitter. This is something Moreno would do.

This is something Moreno would do. Yeah I know! Moreno has spent hundreds of millions on mashers like Rendon and Trout but has neglected to shore up the pitching, which ranked 22nd in the bigs last year. The team ranked 10th in runs scored which is great, but any fan of the game knows pitching is like 82% of the game. They did lock up ShowTime, who both hits and pitches better than most, but one great pitcher does not a playoff team make. Trout and Ohtani are the top two players in the game, yet the team finished way back, in 4th place, 18 games out and a -81 run differential. If not for the Padres' free fall in the second half, the Angels would be the biggest laffingstock in the game. Moreno has to be the most incompetent team owner of all.

This is good step in the right direction for them. I like Thor and wished we would have signed him but we have our very own little version in May injury and all. They signed Heaney which I like. He looked like he had stuff with the Angles but never could get himself to take the next jump. Hopefully at the very least he can eat up innings. They're looking at Steven Matz which to me would be another good low acquisition with high ceiling potential.
