I think for sure they want to keep him. And not by insulting him. I'm just wondering how open he is to incentives. That would be the contract to go but I think anything less than guaranteed money can be viewed as insulting to his agent or him. I really still don’t see Kersh as a “money grabber” and think he’ll re-sign at a number both he and management are comfortable with. Dude has more money than his grandchildren’s grandchildren will ever spend. He devotes thousands of hours and millions of dollars to a number of charitable causes. I’ve seen his house in a couple of mags - it’s beautiful and I’m sure ran a few bucks. But it’s WAY conservative as compared to these mansions and palaces we see the Hollywood rich and shameless have to have to prove they’ve got more than the dude next door. I’ve never seen Kersh in a car - but he certainly doesn’t seem the Ferrari or Lamborghini type. With those rugrats, he’s probably tooling in maybe a high end BMW or Benz SUV or perhaps even a high end mini-van. I’d rather see him retire than jump to another team to finish his career. Don’t let Texas lure this guy back to his home state. Keep Kersh in Blue! KKIB! GO DODGERS!!!

We need right hand power and he has some.

Dodgers' Austin Barnes: Avoids arbitration Rotowire FEB 15, 2021 Barnes agreed to a two-year, $4.3 million contract with the Dodgers on Sunday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Barnes will avoid arbitration with the Dodgers by reaching a two-year deal with the team ahead of spring training. The 31-year-old should serve in a reserve role behind the plate once again in 2021 after slashing .244/.353/.314 with one home run and nine RBI over 86 at-bats last season.

I stopped reading anything by Plashke after he suggested we trade Kershaw and Matt Kemp to the Twins for Johan Santana way back in about '07, because Kershaw was "unproven" at 21 years old and Kemp could be replaced. Santana had a great season but never another like it after and we know about Kershaw and Kemp. What an idiot

What an idiot EVERY team has made at least one monumental error in trading - I believe ours still stands at Pedro Martinez for Delino DeShields. But Kershaw and Kemp for Santana would have FAR exceeded that. What a buffoon!! GO DODGERS!!!

Trading Frank Duffy and Vern Gieshirt to the Reds for George Foster. Two made it to the bigs for a cup of coffee as they say, and the other was...

Yeah. The same time the Dodgers were coming up with Cey, Lopes, Russell, Garvey, Rau, Buckner, Hough, etc. the Giants had Speier, Kingman, Maddox, Matthews, Montefusco, Bonds, Bryant, et al. They were supposed to give us a run for our money. I vaguely recall a sportswriter asking Cey if he thought the Dodgers young guns would beat the Giants' young core. Ron said something like he didn't see why not. We beat them in the minors. Wow! That proved prophetic.
Just imagine them having Foster in that mix. What a royal screwup.

Dodgers' Jimmy Nelson: Mentioned as possible starter Rotowire 6 HRS AGO Nelson (back) was included in manager Dave Roberts' comments about potential starters during the 2021 campaign, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. Nelson is in camp as a non-roster invitee after missing all of last season due to back surgery, so his path to a roster spot among a deep Dodgers staff appears rocky. Still, the right-hander has enjoyed plenty of big-league success in the past, so a comeback is not out of the question if he's able to prove he still has some gas in the tank during spring training. Nelson has already thrown a bullpen session during camp, so he at least appears recovered from the issues that set him back in 2020. www.baseball-reference.com/players/n/nelsoji02.shtml2017 seems like a long time ago.

Dodgers' Mitch White: Not ready to throw Rotowire 14 HRS AGO White is dealing with soreness and is not ready to throw bullpen sessions yet, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Manager Dave Roberts didn't give any specifics as to the location or severity of White's soreness. White made his big-league debut in 2020, throwing three scoreless innings out of the bullpen. He figures to start the season in the minors, but will likely pitch at the big-league level as bullpen depth throughout the campaign.
Dodgers' Joe Kelly: Dealing with soreness Rotowire 14 HRS AGO Manager Dave Roberts stated that Kelly is not yet ready to throw bullpen sessions due to soreness, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Roberts didn't give any specific details related to the soreness, but instead said that Kelly is "still coming back" and "not quite there yet." Given the timing of the issue, it doesn't appear that there should be any concern for Kelly's status to start the regular season. While Kenley Jansen will start the season locked in the closer role, Kelly should fill high a high-leverage role in the Dodgers' bullpen.

Dodgers' Julio Urias: Ready for bullpen session Rotowire 14 HRS AGO Urias will throw a bullpen session Friday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Urias was praised by manager Dave Roberts for his physical conditioning upon arrival at spring training. While that's a common refrain for many players at this time of the season, it's still encouraging that Urias is on track physically. He's expected to be a key member of the Dodgers' rotation, though may have to compete with Tony Gonsolin and Dustin May for the role.
Dodgers' Keibert Ruiz: Not yet in camp Rotowire 14 HRS AGO Ruiz has not reported to spring training due to a visa issue, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Ruiz made his debut in the big leagues for a brief time in 2020, logging eight plate appearances. He'll face an uphill battle to make the opening day roster for the 2021 season with both Will Smith and Austin Barnes ahead of him on the catching depth chart. There is no timeline for Ruiz's arrival to the team's facility.

Dodgers' Kenley Jansen: Expected to begin season as closer Rotowire 14 HRS AGO Jansen is expected to serve as the Dodgers' Opening Day closer in 2021, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Jansen struggled during the postseason in 2020 and lost out on some save chances as a result, but manager Dave Roberts said Thursday that he expects the right-hander to begin the season as the team's closer. Jansen converted on 11 of his 13 chances and recorded a 3.33 ERA and 33:9 K:BB over 24.1 innings in 2020. If he struggles to begin the season, Blake Treinen and Brusdar Graterol could see some save chances for the Dodgers.
Dodgers' Jacob Amaya: Headed to spring camp Rotowire FEB 17, 2021 Amaya will attend the Dodgers' big-league camp this spring, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
Amaya spent last season at the team's alternate training site after hitting a combined .260 with seven homers and 71 RBI across two levels in 2019. He has considerable defensive talent and a good eye at the plate but hasn't yet demonstrated an ability to hit for power.
