Look at the demarcation line. BC & AC. Before & after contract. www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rendoan01.shtmlThis ranks right up there with the biggest free agents busts of all time. The Angels should be in total rebuild mode. Trout & Ohtani aren't young enough to go through that with them.

Mike Trout Expects to be 'Wearing an Angels Uniform in the Spring'
A shakier commitment than prior seasons.
CALEB NGUYEN
Ending yet another campaign plagued by injuries, Halos superstar Mike Trout addressed the media after shutting down his 2023 season thanks to his lingering wrist injury.
Fielding many questions about his future with the franchise, the Angels outfielder refuted any claims that he's seeking a trade indicating a commitment to the team for the early portions of 2024.
"See, I go through this every year. There's private conversations I have with Arte and John. And like I said. I'm doing the same thing I've done the last what? 13 years? It's going into the offseason, clearing my mind and getting ready for spring and wearing an Angels jersey in spring. I got seven years left on the contract. I know there's a lot of speculation out there. I come in, clear my mind and then have the conversation with the front office. Nothing's changed."
Encouraging as Trout's recent comments may be for Angels fans, at this point in his career, many might want to see their franchise icon of the last decade truly compete for a championship before time runs out.
If the center fielder is content in Anaheim with his family and generational wealth, this doesn't seem to be an issue, but many fans would rather Trout's legacy be secured with a World Series ring in his 30s.
It's become increasingly apparent that such an outcome will not be with the Angels as the team hasn't seen a playoff berth since 2014 and hasn't won a playoff game since 2009, before Trout was even on the roster.
The three-time MVP's contract is a clear roadblock to any possible trade, but such a development may be necessary to fully rebuild at the Big A.
No matter how much Trout says he loves the city, the grass will surely be greener elsewhere should he choose to pursue a championship.

Arte Moreno is Reportedly Holding the Angels Back From Signing Blake Snell
Story by Matt Levine •
7h
The Los Angeles Angels have been searching for starting pitching help all winter long, but nothing has come to fruition. They've made minor moves around the edges, but the front office seems determined to land an ace-level starter to lead the staff.
Starting pitching has been one of the biggest priorities for the Halos this offseason, and the team understands the need to build a solid rotation. They want to be competitive next season and even potentially break their long playoff drought.
One of the biggest names that the Angels have been connected with this entire offseason is starting pitcher Blake Snell. Snell is the reigning National League Cy Young winner and is looking to cash in on the open market.
According to The New York Post's Jon Heyman, the Angels like Snell, but owner Arte Moreno hasn't given the okay to sign him.
"The Angels are staying in touch on Blake Snell (and Jordan Montgomery and Bellinger). They like Snell, but team owner Arte Moreno hasn’t given the go-ahead."
Per Jon Heyman of The New York Post
The Angels have historically shied away from handing out large free-agent deals to pitchers, which could be playing into everything. But Snell could be an exception worth making.
He would instantly improve the Halos starting rotation and give them a true No. 1 starter at the top of the staff. Snell would make the Angels rotation scarier to face off against, and his experience could be useful for some of the younger arms on the team.
This is a move that would be a true game-changer for the Halos and one that they should heavily consider making. Maybe Moreno will ease up his stance, but for now, Snell remains one of their top targets.

So this moron would rather give the money to Albert Pujols & Josh Hamilton. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FsmsUpbOz2RsyxdPSM1oXHHuIE33NhIMEN-7bD0J9mg/edit?pli=1#gid=1520401900Close to $39,000,000 for Anthony Rendon. After this coming season? Less than $110,000,000 in total team payroll committed. This is a damned if you do, damned if you don't moment for Moreno. He should be all in on both Bellinger & Snell. Work as smart a contract as you're capable of. Build in incentives & opt-out clauses. It's not like giving 125 million dollars to a crack addict.

Trout with a torn meniscus -,surgery imminent. Dodged a bullet there. GO DODGERS!!! Yeah. He had a weird streak going too. His last three hits (covering five games?) were all homers. But those were the only hits he had. So sad. He's 32.

I was lucky and did not require surgery. But I spent nine weeks in a steel hinged leg brace; it’s now going on five months and I’m still a ways from being fully recovered. At 62, my knee will probably never be 100% again, especially since it has already undergone two previous surgeries. I know professional baseball players are in significantly better shape than I am, have the best doctors and Trout will receive the best surgeon and rehab program out there. He ain’t playing again this year. GO DODGERS!!!

He was the best player on that Brooklyn team. He wanted 500 homers. He scaled his dreams back & wound up with 407. Trout's at 378 right now.

If Trout and Griffey, Jr. could have stayed on the field more than the IL, they both may have had a shot to break Aaron’s HR record. And no - I don’t count steroid boy Bonds as the record holder. He’ll always have that “unwritten” asterisk as far as I’m concerned. GO DODGERS!!!

Trout with another torn MCL - done for the year.
It’s a testament to his loyalty to the Angles and blessing that he didn’t request to be traded.
Chances were good that he would have landed in LA at some crazy three figure million dollar extension and then spend this year on the IL and who knows how many additional IL trips over the length of that contract.
FIRE DAVE ROBERTS!!!

Still, LA would have been paying a lot of money for a major talent that can’t seem to stay healthy and / or off the IL. Dude seems to be snake bit. FIRE DAVE ROBERTS!!!
