Ohtani signed a one year, $30,000,000 extension with the Angels. He won't be a free agent until the 2024 season. He's said winning is an important consideration.
Arte Moreno is said to be considering selling the team. Then Shohei would be an important asset.
How great would it be to have Trout & Ohtani on the team they deserve?

There is a very good article in Sports Illustrated. It concerns Joe Maddon's firing. But it also covers the battle between newer generation GM's & old school field managers. How they're looking for rubber stamps. How many rookie managers are being hired because they'll do as they're told.
On one occasion Maddon received a call in the dugout. He later told them to never call me in the fucking dugout again.
Were you aware attendance has been dropping every year since MLB's high-water mark in 2007? A lot of that has GOT to be the stand around nature the game has taken on. Hacking away on 0-2 counts. Station to station.
This isn't an indictment of either side. But it must be noted how poorly the Angels did after dumping Maddon.

Arte Moreno has decided he won't sell the Angels after all. Is that good or bad?

Arte Moreno has decided he won't sell the Angels after all. Is that good or bad? I think it’s good for Ohtani. Arte said “there was unfinished business”. Does that translate to his misguided and deluded ideal that he’ll somehow make the Angles as popular, if not more popular than his southern neighbors? Ohtani is going to run him a half billion. He’s not exactly known and respected for his spending and has yet to exceed the luxury cap. Does he do it for Oh? I’m guessing even if he does, he’s going to have to continue to spend to put a winning team on the field, which is what Ohtani wants. Their pitching wasn’t bad last year (9th in the AL), but they haven’t been to the playoffs for close to two decades. Oh is gonna look good in blue (w/ the Chico’s Bail Bond patch or without). GO DODGERS!!!

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Being investigated by league
By RotoWire Staff
Apr 1, 2023 at 12:40 am ET • 1 min read
MLB is investigating an altercation Rendon had with a fan following the Angels' season opener Thursday in Oakland, Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports.
A video has circulated around social media in which Rendon appears to grab a man by the shirt and exchange heated words with him. Rendon plans to discuss the incident Saturday, per Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register, and an MLB spokesperson indicated Friday, "We are aware of the video and we are now looking into the matter." It remains to be seen what fallout will come of the incident, but Rendon could face a suspension if the league determines one is warranted.

I just dropped Rendon as a backup third baseman in one league (that's what he is nowadays) & picked up Trayce Thompson. Rendon has been shit since signing that contract. Thompson is on a mission.

Angels' Jake Lamb: Draws third straight start Rotowire APR 5, 2023 Lamb will start at first base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
Anthony Rendon remains out Wednesday for a fourth game in a row while he continues to serve a suspension, and his ongoing absence has cleared the way for both Lamb and Brandon Drury to pick up regular starts. Lamb is included in the starting nine for the third straight game, after going 3-for-11 with a double, two walks, three runs and two RBI in his first three appearances of the season. Once Rendon is back in action, Lamb could end up filling the strong side of a platoon at first base with Drury while Jared Walsh (head) remains on the injured list, but the Angels haven't formally clarified their plans.

Ohtani throws some wicked shit. One Cardinal was taking off his pads & walking to first when a high & away pitch broke low & inside. Called strike. All six outs so far have come via K's.
