This really points to character issues with Moreno. He lied to Torii Hunter. Told Hunter he didn't have the money to keep him. Then he spent $125,000,000 on Josh Hamilton.
Pujols was batting .198. (Now .194.). It doesn't seem like anymore explanation than that was necessary. Let Albert leave on his own terms? He had nothing left to accomplish. The Halos won't be competing for a title. Right now Pujols has 3,254 hits. Where does he go from there? 3,500? Ain't happening. 667 homers. 700? Nope. 2,113 RBI's. Catching Aaron at 2,297? Not hardly. So if Albert left at the end of the season, who cares? Arte had given him close to a quarter of a billion dollars. Maybe that was the source of tension. But, once again, we come back to Moreno's decisions. Morales was traded for Jason Vargas. Vargas might not have been necessary if they had re-signed Greinke. Morales might not have been so dispensable if they hadn't signed Pujols. All Moreno decisions. Kind of appropriate that his most costly boondoggle gives him a public relations blackeye.

When you’re trading with the Redlegs to get THEIR closer, you know you’re pretty desperate. They gave up on Chapman who has had a couple of meh seasons but this year has turned into Mariano Part II for the Spanks. Wonder if Panic has eyes for him now? GO DODGERS!!!

Just now watching. Ohtani hit the Matterhorn in left-center with his 16th homer last night. That used to be a running joke with a buddy of mine.
"Disneyland called. They want their Matterhorn back."
"Fuck you!"
Okay. I'm a hopeless smart aleck.
What a rotten shame Trout & Ohtani are wasted on that team.

Anthony Rendon injury: Angels' third baseman set for season-ending wrist surgery
The club made the announcement on Friday By Dayn Perry 19 hrs ago • 1 min read
The Los Angeles Angels on Friday announced that third baseman Anthony Rendon will undergo season-ending surgery to repair his right wrist early in the upcoming week. Rendon has been sidelined since June 14, when he was removed from a game against the Dodgers after injuring his wrist on a swing.
Rendon, 32, sees his 2022 season end with a slash line of .228/.324/.383 and five home runs in 45 games. Rendon, who's in the third year of a seven-year, $245 million free agent contract with the Angels, has dealt with a number of injuries in recent years. In 2021, he was limited to just 58 games played because of groin, knee, hamstring, and hip problems. The prior season, 2020, was abbreviated to just 60 games because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond this season, the worry is that Rendon's injuries, many of which are the soft-tissue variety, will become even more of a concern as he ages deeper into his thirties. After this season, he has more than $150 million left on his contract.
This marks a critical loss for the Angels, who have seen their 2022 season devolve from one of significant promise -- they were a season-best 11 games over .500 on May 15 -- to another one of disappointment. A recent 14-game losing streak cost manager Joe Maddon his job and also tumbled the Angels out of the AL West race. While there's plenty of time for a rebound, the loss of Rendon increases the likelihood that the Halos are headed for a seventh straight losing season -- all of which have occurred during Mike Trout's legendary peak. They also haven't made the playoffs since 2014 and haven't won a postseason game since 2009.

Angels are 11-50 since firing Joe Maddon. You aren't escaping this, Arte.

Was watching PTI last night & the two regular clowns Wilbon and Kornheiser were both off (what a KUSH job - neither of them EVER seems to work a FULL five day week).
So anyways, their replacements Frank Isola & Mina Kimes we’re going through the usual amusing back and forth.
When they got to the final segment, they have a point where they correct any “errors” that have occurred.
Mina made the ULTIMATE mistake of calling them the “ “Anaheim” Angels. Guess what? THEY ARE IN ANAHEIM, not Los Angeles.
And no matter how hard or long they try, I personally will NEVER call them the “Los Angeles” Angels. They’ll ALWAYS be the Anaheim or going FULL old school, “California” Angels.
GO DODGERS!!!

After Mike Trout's back injury, some fool (a trainer or doctor) was talking about this might be the end of his career. He missed from mid July to August 19th. About five weeks. He started slow. 1-8 in his first two games back. Since then he's gone 24-71 / .338-10-16 / .397 / .803 in 18 games. He's currently working on an 6 game hitting streak. He's homered in all of them.

Mike hit another homer. Seven games in a row. 35 on the season. It helps having Ohtani behind you.

Angels' Mike Trout: Homers in seventh straight Rotowire 19 HRS AGO Trout went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Monday's 5-4 loss to Cleveland.
Trout's outrageous run continued with a game-tying, two-run blast in the fifth inning Monday. He's gone deep in seven consecutive games, going 11-for-28 (.393) with 11 RBI during that stretch. The star outfielder is now slashing .279/.368/.633 with 35 long balls and 69 RBI through 100 games.
