Scrolling through the channel guide and I noticed one of our 15 Showtimes is airing both Godfather’s back to back for a good five and half hours of your time. But that ain’t all.
Following them is another two hours forty plus minutes of the newly named “Mario Puzo’s Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone”. DO NOT BE FOOLED OR SUCKERED IN ON THIS ONE!!
It is simply a “rebranded” and far inferior Godfather Part III. Nothing more, nothing less. They should have stopped at two.
I did enjoy the six hour plus re-edit I believe was released as “The Godfather Saga”, which basically switched the running order of II and I and started with a young Michael Corleone growing up in Italy with added scenes of his life there before evolving into “La Familia” and then going right into the original with Marlon Brando as the head Dom.
Came on one night around 12:30 am and wasn’t over until my wife came down to get ready for work around 6:45 am that same morning. I just couldn’t turn it off or look away.
GO DODGERS!!!

Prometheus is wrapping up. I think it's the second best in the Aliens series.

One other thing - the horse head in the bed was / is still one of the creepiest and horrifying moments ever put on film.

Yesterday was a Matthew Broderick film fest. First Ferris Buehler's Day Off. Then WarGames. The best part of Ferris was when the principal got busted by Ferris' sister. The principal had dropped his wallet in the kitchen when he broke into their house. Then the dogs mauled him again.

Bad Teacher is rolling right now on IFC. Not bad, but certainly not great.
But the scene with Cameron Diaz checking out the PERFECT rack on a babe at the breast augmentation office followed shortly thereafter with her washing cars and getting all wet in Daisy Dukes and a loose plaid flannel shirt while Whitesnake is jamming in the background makes it worth a look.

'Apocalypse Now' is on. I give this movie credit for being the first serious treatise of Vietnam. But I would have shot Lance in the head & dumped him in the river.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall was on Paramount last night and although they did their usual fair share of hacking the shit out of it - it’s still one of my favs for a “newer” movie.
Tons of great lines throughout and hotties Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell don’t hurt, either.
Jason Segal (Marshall - how ironic? - from the long running TV series How I Met Your Mother) plays Peter who has his heart broken by television star Sarah Marshall (Bell).
He provides the background music for the show she stars in, but is also struggling to write a rock opera about Dracula which he sees being staged by puppets.
His stepbrother by marriage (played hilariously by Bill Hader of SNL fame) convinces him to take a vacation and he ends up at the same resort in Hawaii that his ex is staying with her new beau, rockstar Aldous Snow (Russell Brand in probably his funniest role ever IMO).
There are also appearances by Jonah Hill as waiter and an overly eager fanboy of Snow as well as Paul Rudd as a surfing instructor.
Jack McBrayer (Kenneth the page on 30 Rock) plays a newly married Christian who can’t seem to “connect” with his new nympho wife.
Peter naturally falls for front desk clerk Rachel (Kunis) after she books him in a $6,000 a night suite he cannot afford following an awkward meet-up with his ex & Snow in the resort lobby just after he arrives.
Lots to like in this movie including a couple of hysterical self-effacing full frontal nudity shots of Mr. Segal, who also wrote the screenplay for the film.
I give it a good ⚾️⚾️⚾️ ⚾️.

“Get Him To The Greek”, a “sort of” sequel to the above FSM was playing last night and while it had a few amusing moments and lines, it didn’t hold a candle to its predecessor.
Russell Brand is back as Aldous Snow who puts out an “African” themed album that is a huge flop and basically offends most of his fans and non-fans.
After years of sobriety, he is now the typical reckless drunk & drug addict he once was and most expect out of our rock “stars”.
Jonah Hill is back, but this time as a different character than FSM. He plays a lackey to Sean Combs record company executive who has the responsibility of getting Snow to a sold out concert in LA at the Greek Theater to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Snow’s biggest album.
There are naturally parties and hijinks along the way, gratuitous nudity and far too many shots of Hill throwing up. P-Diddy has some of the best lines & funniest moments.
The problem with the movie is TOO MUCH Brand. His secondary role in FSM was very funny, but as the star of this film and in nearly every scene and minute of it, he’s just really annoying.
I give it ⚾️⚾️, but if there was a “half” baseball, it’d be one and a half.
GO DODGERS!!!
