Toles got optioned so Joc and Farmer are getting the last two roster spots. I would prefer Toles, but let’s hope Joc takes advantage of this opportunity.

Looks like it's put up or shut up time for Joc. I don't imagine his leash is going to be too long if he struggles. Here's hoping his WS success wasn't a fluke.
Glad Farmer made the roster. Hope he gets some significant time.

Wow. Interesting choice. I expect Toles to excel in AAA, and Joc, not so much in MLB. Probably won't be long before they swap places.

The Dodgers do this crap every season! Last year it was Belly and Taylor. I get Belly for financial reasons, but there was NO REASON to keep Taylor in the minors for the start of last season. He was obviously better than the crap the Dodgers had on their roster coming off the bench (Franklin Gutierrez, Scott Van Slyke). Now it's Toles going to the minors and Joc being on the roster instead. On the pitching side, there is absolutely ZERO reason to keep that nut-filled turd Wilmer Font on the major league roster over guys like Venditte and Liberatore. I know Font is out of options, but who cares? Dude is not young, and he has proven nothing. Designate him for assignment already. My prediction is that he will be DFA'ed by the end of May.

Thats disengenuous to say Bellinger was kept down purely for financial reasons; he only had a cup of coffee at OKC in 2016 so he would have been essentially skipping AAA. Taylor is also a poor comparison. He was nothing special in 2016, so it’s not like anybody knew he was primed for that huge breakout year last season.

Completely disagree. Look, Font may or not prove he belongs. But relief pitching is notoriously unpredictable and I'd rather have as many arms as possible to lean on. Venditte and Liberatore will get their chance. If Font doesn't produce, he will be removed. But if there are a bunch of injuries, we may really rely on him, too.

I don't like Pederson over Toles. But I don't expect that if Pederson doesn't get his act together that he will be around too much longer anyway. I think (I hope) this is his last chance to get it together or get sent packing. He has April to prove he actually belongs on a major league roster and if he doesn't, he's gone and Toles is up.
The Farmer decision is also a little confusing. I'm not sure who would be there instead of him so I don't care all that much, but from the sounds of it, he's there as nothing more than a pinch hitter and backup infielder. It doesn't sound like the team has any confidence in him behind the plate at all.

The Farmer move is a no brainer to me with JT out. He hit well and deserved it. He and Logan play 3rd. Utley, Kike and Logan play 2nd. Seager and Kike as needed at short. I don't think he's only a pinch hitter.

Taylor tore the cover off the ball in spring training last year. I was chirping about him being sent down and claiming he was going to break out, and I'm no scout, but even I could see it. The Belly thing was to keep the clock from starting (as far as I know), and once April passed, he immediately came up. So, I understood the move. Keeping turds like Gutierrez, Van Slyke, and Font around simply because they are out of options doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. If they couldn't trade them, then just trim the fat and move on. The Dodgers got off to a slow start last season and IMO it is simply because they had the wrong guys on the roster. As soon as Taylor and Belly came up, we started winning, it's as simple as that. Realistically, it's a long season and I know the Dodgers will most likely be in the playoffs, but I want to try and win as many games as possible in April, because you never know. And you don't win with guys like Font in your bullpen, IMO, so why keep him? Toles should be on this team now, he earned it! But I digress......

The Dodgers do not place very much value on the results of spring training. Dave Roberts stated this during spring training and the front office also said so. I like Toles but I will root for Joc to do well and reward the decision that was made.

If it was only about service time Bellinger would have been called up a couple weeks earlier; players only have to be kept in the minors for 13-14 days to get that extra year. Taylor had a great spring training, a year after posting an OPS under 700. If you had a feeling he was going to blossom in to the player he became, good for you. It’s amazing that this front office puts out nothing but excellent teams, and some people still complain about dumb things like this.

Growing up I was never a huge fan of Kemp (I really liked Either and thought Kemp stole his job. Oh to be 9 years old again right?) but he really impressed me this spring training. Lets hope he can keep it up!
