Dodgers are 27-15 / .643. That's 9.0 games out of last place. They have the second best record in the majors. Behind only the amazing Tampa Bay Rays, who are 31-11 / .738, despite losing two of the best starters in the game. The Padres are currently 20-22 / .476. I wonder what JRGREENE thinks now? He's said that this team doesn't have the motivation of such teams as in '18, '85 and '78. I’m pretty surprised, but I’m also wondering how they can continue to W with so many dead spots in the lineup. I also wonder how spent this pen is going to be come September. In 2018, those guys had nothing left in the tank. And we just lost May for probably at least a 60 day IL stint - IF WE’RE LUCKY. Goose is five innings at best; Thor? Same. Stone for May? Four or five, maybe. So we have two out of five starters that can get us six or seven innings every week. That’s a LOT of work for a less than stellar pen as it is. I’m happy they’re doing well; but I’m skeptical (as usual!) it will last. GO DODGERS!!!

He had to put relievers out there, and what's this big deal being made over Dylan Covey anyhow? Since he pitched 4 innings yesterday he won't pitch today no matter what. There's damage control to minimize the pen's workload, but there are another seven games till an off day. Yesterday's two heroes were the two rookies. Varg drew a walk to tie the game, which he's good at. He's been on a modest hot streak recently and it's hard to believe his BA is .227. And of course the Out Man. The youth movement is to inspire the vets on the team and so far it's worked out great.

Hey jr, Was hoping you were at the game tonight to see Freddie’s G-slam. Was thinking of you and somehow found a way to get on here and post. hope all is well, folks… Hey, bulldog! Long time no see! Unfortunately, we didn’t make it down for the series this year. These mid-week series are killers because we either have to get a room downtown for $200 - $300 a night plus another $15 - $25 hotel parking or drive back and fourth three days in a row and drop $25 - $30 to park. Not to mention food and drinks! Plus the wife would have had to take three vacation days. So, we took the year off and are home watching it on the big screen. Nice throw there by Maxine! Good seeing you here again! GO DODGERS!!!

I get it, game is great at home. More action now too!
This is a weird team. Not that good really but I see what they’re doing. Have some really good players and really talented young guys. Bench is awful. AA pitching is sick, these guys can maybe help later. Definitely need it….
Good to find you guys tonight…
Billy Nono, saw ur reply. 👍

Look at last winter's contracts. Trea Turner got 300 million dollars. Correa was initially going to get 350 million. He wound up with 200 million. The way he's playing, he owes the Twins a refund. So the Dodgers opted to build from within. What a deal Freddie Freeman has turned out to be.

Likely going to miss all of next season as well. Media is quick to laud this guy with TONS of praise, even comparing him to some of the ALL TIME greats, including Kershaw. Kersh has had his share of IL trips, but damn - deGrom seems like he’s on it just about every year for extended periods of time. His “stats” may be comparable, but are far outshadowed by appearances. Also heard Strasburg has nerve damage and might be done for his career. Another dude that always seems to be on the IL. GO DODGERS!!!

Especially with SO much concentration on throwing 100+ fastballs 90% of the time. Why? Because fastballs = moon shots. And isn’t that what baseball is all about? There’s no longer any Niekro’s or Maddox’s that could get you out by mixing 65 - 70 mph knuckle or off speed pitches with high 80’s / low 90’s cheese. I don’t ever remember pitchers in the 70’s or 80’s going on the DL or having surgeries like these days. And that was back when most teams had a four man rotation and complete games were fairly common. There were no “specialty” pitchers or “closer”. And a pitcher wasn’t pulled for this lefty / righty bullshit we see every game these days. Seems like there’s another guy every week needing Tommy John. Ferris is already on his second and I can almost guarantee May will be next for number two. Personally I LOVED and preferred those games. EVERY MLB batter can hit a 100+ fastball. But not too many had the same success against the knuckler and nasty curves / off speeds, especially when they were guessing heater. And most of them looked pretty foolish swinging wildly at pitches that hadn’t even crossed the plate yet. But maybe that was a factor as well - can’t have these studs and idols looking bad with bad swings at great pitches. I will continue to watch until I hit the big oven, but the game gets less and less enjoyable every year that passes and with every “new / exciting” rule change the morons in charge come up with and implement. GO DODGERS!!!

GO DODGERS!!! I don't know about that part. Used to be embarrassing to get struck out. Even stud hitters might choke up an inch or two with two strikes on them. Now they swing at 0-2 the same way they swing at the very first pitch. And you better believe someone in the front office is calculating that & smiling.

3 1/2 back to the Serpentines. Three starters and two blowpen games a week ain’t gonna cut it.
Remember when we had more pitching than we knew what to do with last year?
Now we have one very good rookie (albeit he can only go five or six innings), another rookie who’s four innings and ERA near eight isn’t going to win ANY games, Catman (again, five or six innings) and a GOAT.
I’m betting we don’t see Eew until after the All Star break.
And our pen is just plain bad.
Nine nights out of ten we have at least five guys in the lineup hitting under .200, including our fallen star Maxine, who’s now at a robust .191, yet remains Daisy’s choice for CLEAN-UP!
Sure - he still has decent power numbers. But a solo HR every 20 AB’s and one for five the rest of the time ain’t getting it, either.
Thank God the Mads, Rox & Gnats continue to suck. Otherwise, we’d be closing in on the title of this thread!
GO DODGERS!!!

I can't ever remember us having a pitching staff this bad, of course injuries have played a huge part

There are many others like DodgerNIcole, IowaDodger, Frida and others I don't recall offhand. But we sure miss your analysis!

It will take a lot of work to catch the rockies, but i have faith in roberts and the owners of the team, to get it done. then maybe we can get a new group of owners who aren't a bunch of woke punks, who lick mens butt holes, and make fun of 90% of their fan base
