I couldn’t agree more with that last post by nono. But I fear that the team has become FAR too profitable for any of them to give a rats ass.
We averaged 47K per game - hell, some stadiums don’t hold that many COMPLETELY sold out.
And those 47,000 are paying $20 - $30 to park, drinking $25 beers, eating $10(?) Dodger Dogs by the tens of thousands 81 nights a year.
And let’s not forget about the merchandising. $350 jerseys and $50 hats that come in a half dozen varieties each and every year, just to name a couple.
If the Redskins were sold for close to $4 billion, what would the Dodgers go for and who would even have that kind of capital to buy them, other than some tech geeks that would probably rely on analytics even more than the two bozos now?
And there’s been no sign that Kasten and Company are looking to sell - and why would / should they? I’d bet the Dodgers are one of the most profitable franchises in ALL four of the major sports leagues.
But their complacency comes with the price and product we have seen over the last near decade.
Unfortunately, the only way we as fans have a chance to effect change is to stop going to games and stop buying their merchandise.
And that’s not going to happen because for every season ticket holder that says enough is enough, there’s a half dozen or so waiting in line to snap up those seats.
And tens of thousands of walk-ups every home game simply because, well - it’s the Dodgers and what else is there to do in LA all summer?
And no - dodging / avoiding the homeless isn’t a sport or option too many want to participate in.
I’m afraid we’re stuck with what we got and even a superstar like Ohtani isn’t going to be enough to get us to the next level.
Daisy would have been chucked five years ago if I was the owner. And Fraudman close behind. The pattern and comparison to the Bravos is spot on.
And that hump in the road grows closer to Mt. Everest each and every year we end up like this one.
I’m sure the players won’t be losing too much sleep over another failed campaign. They should pretty much be used to it by now.
GO DODGERS!!!

This was Kershaw's first game back after missing the previous two weeks. www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/LAN/LAN202308100.shtmlAfter missing eleven days. www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/SEA/SEA202309160.shtml1st inning overall. www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=kershcl01&year=2023&t=pHis BAA & hitter slash line in the 1st inning is .184 / .250 / .264. Four days was 3.18 & 0.91. 2.55 & 1.15 on five days rest. Six+ days of rest produced a 1.88 ERA & 0.91 WHIP. I felt that couldn't be right about the creature of habit thing because of the number of times Clayton has been disabled over the past several seasons. We ALL love Kershaw. None of us wants to see him go out on a sour note like this. But it just is what it is. He chokes. He'll get you to the dance. You won't be leaving with him. As a closer, he would be an absolute arsonist. Starting third, or even fourth, in the playoffs sounds about right. We'll have Buehler back next year. Please come back, Clayton. Please accept your postseason role.

Please accept your postseason role. Maybe they need to get McCourt’s hypnotist and have him put Clayton in a trance where he doesn’t know it’s October and they are playing for a championship where EVERY game is vital? He has had a few very good postseason games, but the stinkers far outnumber the ace performances by a long shot. We can only blame the cheating Trashtros and Bosox for a couple of those - the rest fall solely on his shoulders. It’s a damn shame that his HOF career will always have this blemish attached to it. If he does get another shot or two still this season, LA had better find a way to put some damn runs on the board. If that means doing something they haven’t done ALL year, like “manufacturing” runs, they ALL need to be on board for that. But even a one or two run deficit seems impossible for these guys who only have one swing in their repertoire. And it’s a helluva lot harder to hit HR’s than singles, bunts, hit & runs, sacrifices, etc. when you’re going up against top notch pitching in the postseason. GO DODGERS!!!

So how many homeruns does AZ get tonight facing our "feared" pitcher Lynn on the mound for the last game of the year? Dude has given up more homers this year than any other MLB starter with 44 allowed.
Funny how they were asking permission essentially to celebrate in their pool when the Dodgers win the series, lol. I'll be very surprised if the Diamondbacks don't do just that after the sweep. I would, just to rub it in some more...

I'll be very surprised if the Diamondbacks don't do just that after the sweep. I would, just to rub it in some more... If the over / under is three or less, I’d be betting the over. Looks like another “wait ‘til next year” and Daisy with that same baffled “how did we get here” look on his face. Freddie and Mookie had career years and will both be another year older. A lineup that is 2/3 hitting .200 or below isn’t going to compete in the postseason and we’re seeing that first hand. Time to trim the fat and get a few more guys in here that can at least put a ball in play as opposed to over the fence. Stop gaps like Peralta, Kiké, Rojas and Heyward got us 100 W’s, but there’s a reason guys like this were available for us to sign. Taylor and Muncy are both expendable. We need a .300 hitting 3B & SS and for the love of God, a new backup catcher that can hit over .100. Pitching should also be a priority with at least an ace or two to compliment Buehler and Miller. Kershaw will likely return but should be relegated to no better than #4 in the rotation. Most importantly - it’s time to close the book on the puppet master and his protégé. The two of them have done nothing with some of the best rosters in baseball over the last near decade. Sure - we got the title in a short Covid season. But let’s be honest - would that title have happened if we had played a full 162 games? I’m not so sure, based on what we have seen every season prior to and following. It’s almost as if Daisy has inherited all of the traits of his hero, Rusty Baker. Both are excellent regular season managers, but choke in dramatic fashion in October. The front office has a LOT of work to do and decisions to make this off-season. I certainly hope their biggest move isn’t going all in on Ohtani. One player, even as great as he is, isn’t going to put this team over the top or make them the dynasty we were all promised when Kasten and smiling Magic came to town. A complete overhaul and new philosophy in how the game is played. Screw the geeks and their analytics! Return to the game we grew up playing, watching and enjoying. Because this “new” brand of baseball sucks! GO DODGERS!!!

Lance Lynn RHP 0-0, -.-- ERA, 0 SO Brandon Pfaadt RHP 0-0, 10.13 ERA, 4 SO LAD Lineup Mookie Betts (R) 2B - .307-39-107 Freddie Freeman (L) 1B - .331-29-102 J.D. Martinez (R) DH - .271-33-103 Max Muncy (L) 3B - .212-36-105 Will Smith (R) C - .261-19-76 Jason Heyward (L) RF - .269-15-40 Enrique Hernandez (R) CF - .262-5-30 / .237-11-61 overall David Peralta (L) LF - .259-7-55 Miguel Rojas (R) SS - .236-5-31 All the big boppers at the top of the order. I like it. While ideally you'd like to lengthen the lineup, how many times might that result in rallies being snuffed out before they can start? Then you leave the 'little ball' crew at the bottom. www.baseball-reference.com/players/p/pfaadbr01.shtmlHe got roughed up against Milwaukee. Shit - his whole season pretty much sucks. www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=pfaadbr01&year=2023&t=pLefties or righties. He doesn't care. He'll get strafed by either. The slash line he allows at home is .314 / .367 / .521. Only 7 homeruns though. 15 on the road. 6 of 7 base stealers at home have been successful. Let's see which part of the lineup produces & when.

Had to be the fastest 3 outs yet for the Dodgers. Off to a swell start...

Thankfully and unlikely the Diamondbacks got 3 outs just as quick. At least we get to the second without being down yet.

I can't watch this shit anymore. Kike gets a leadoff hit and Peralta comes in with 1 pitch and erases it with a double play. Bullshit...

Lynn is determined to pass Olson in homers.
Oh, that's the other way around.
Never mind.

Okay. We found a worse playoff pitcher than Kershaw.
Shit! I had said to yank Lynn after 2.0 no matter how he was doing. Wish I woulda bet on this.
