Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Could eventually work as closer Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: May be leading closer candidate Hudson, why not! Gatorade, has been hitable even with that velocity so... Agreed - MLB hitters can hit 100 + mph fastballs all day long, especially if they know it’s coming and the only pitch he can get over or near the plate. I watched Chapman for the Reds implode time after time trying to throw alternate pitches. One game, with a three run lead, he walked the first three batters on twelve pitches, none of which were anywhere near the dish. He then tries to sneak a fat 103 mph fastball down the middle and it ended up in the second deck of left field. The Reds lost by one. I’m not a big fan of a “designated” closer, unless you have a stud like Gagne or Hoffman or Rivera - and even those guys can’t go EVERY night if needed in a three or four game series. Of course, they didn’t always have to because starters were allowed and encouraged to go more than five or six innings back then. I doubt we’ll ever see another complete game by a starter unless they have a perfect or no hitter game going. And even then . . . look no further than our own marionette in the dugout. GO DODGERS!!!

Plus, Gatorade doesn't miss very many bats, does he? That's not closer material. I do like the idea of closer by committee. And since Gavin Stone has had closer experience, why not try him at it? He doesn't quite burn up the radar gun but his pitches have plenty of movement, very deceptive.

Dodgers' Julio Urias: Expected to start Friday for LAD Rotowire 12 HRS AGO Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Monday that Urias has been removed from Team Mexico's active roster from the World Baseball Classic and is expected to start Friday's Cactus League game for the Dodgers, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Urias would not be able to pitch for Mexico if the club advanced to the WBC finals against the United States. The left-hander posted a 1.35 ERA in two spring appearances before leaving for the tournament with a 1.35 ERA and 0.75 WHIP over 6.2 innings of work. Assuming four days of rest, Urias would be lined up to start Opening Day against the Diamondbacks, but the Dodgers have not announced who will pitch in that contest as of yet.

What about these Tim Anderson rumors for short? Javier Baez would be my choice. But it's very early and obviously they'll wait and ride with what they have at the moment before anything.

He makes a lot for what he provides. But he's a shortstop, & at today's prices, he's about as good as you can get. What do the White Sox want?

Dodgers' Gavin Stone: Sent to minor-league camp Rotowire 3 HRS AGO The Dodgers reassigned Stone to minor-league camp Tuesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Stone has thrown 6.2 scoreless frames with a 14:2 K:BB across four Cactus League appearances with the Dodgers. The right-handed prospect is coming off a 1.16 ERA-debut in Triple-A last season, and he'll almost certainly make his way to the big-leagues in 2023.
Dodgers' Noah Syndergaard: Bothered by blister Tuesday Rotowire 4 HRS AGO Syndergaard said he was bothered by a hand blister during his Cactus League start Tuesday against the Giants, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Syndergaard also said he struggled to find his footing on what was a rainy afternoon in Arizona, which led to inconsistent velocity readings. He gave up six earned runs on six hits and a walk over 4.1 innings of work as his spring ERA ballooned from 0.96 to 4.61. The 30-year-old right-hander has battled this blister off and on for the last few months and it seems unlikely to alter his readiness for his first scheduled turn in the Dodgers' season-opening rotation.

Dodgers' Ryan Pepiot: Set to start Wednesday Rotowire 8 HRS AGO Pepiot (side) is listed as the Dodgers' probable starter for Wednesday's spring game against the Mariners.
The right-hander exited his previous Cactus League start Friday due to side discomfort but will make his next turn through the rotation Wednesday. Pepiot made his big-league debut last season and had a 3.47 ERA across 36.1 frames in nine outings (seven starts), and he's making a strong push for a rotation spot to open 2023 with just two runs allowed and a 13:3 K:BB over nine innings during spring training.

Dodgers' Evan Phillips: To pitch in most important spots Rotowire 12 MINS AGO Phillips is expected to be utilized by the Dodgers "in the most important situations" this season, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
That could be in save situations at times but also will often be earlier in games in a "fireman" role. The Dodgers do not plan on having a set closer to begin the season, but Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register has written that Brusdar Graterol and Daniel Hudson (knee) -- once healthy -- have the best shot to emerge at closer if the team eventually lands on one guy. The news hinders Phillips' outlook a bit for fantasy purposes, but it's a bullpen situation that's far from settled.

Dodgers' Will Smith: Back in Cactus League lineup Rotowire 44 MINS AGO Smith is back in the Dodgers' Cactus League lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks.
Smith will start behind the plate and bat third. He didn't get many at-bats for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic while mostly serving as J.T. Realmuto's backup, so the Dodgers figure to push him hard over what remains of the Cactus League schedule. The 27-year-old has gone as the No. 3 catcher-eligible player off the board in most fantasy drafts for 2023, behind only Realmuto and Daulton Varsho.

Dodgers' Jason Heyward: Confirmed for Opening Day roster Rotowire 4 HRS AGO Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed Thursday that Heyward will be on the Opening Day roster, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
The writing has been on the wall for much of the spring, and now it's official. Heyward offers very little offensive upside at this point in his career, but he can cover all three outfield spots for the Dodgers in what is certain to be a backup role.
Dodgers' Jimmy Nelson: To open season on IL Rotowire 4 HRS AGO Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Thursday that Nelson (elbow) will open the season on the injured list, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Nelson hasn't suffered any sort of setback, but the Dodgers want to give him more time to work fully into form after he missed the entire 2022 season following Tommy John surgery. It seems like he could be an option for the Los Angeles bullpen before the end of April.
Dodgers' James Outman: Will be on Opening Day roster Rotowire 4 HRS AGO Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced Thursday that Outman has made the Opening Day roster, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Outman might not get enough starts out of the gate to offer immediate fantasy relevance, but he's certainly a name to keep on watch lists as the season plays out. The 25-year-old outfielder slashed .294/.393/.586 with 31 home runs and 13 stolen bases in 125 games last summer between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City, and he also went 6-for-13 during a short stint with Los Angeles between late July and early August in his first taste of the big leagues.

Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Won't start Opening Day Rotowire 13 HRS AGO Julio Urias is likely to be named the Dodgers' Opening Day starter, with Kershaw following him in the rotation for the second game of the season, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
For the decade leading into last season, Kershaw and Opening Day went hand-in-hand, as the future Hall of Famer started every season opener in which he wasn't injured from 2011 to 2021. However, Walker Buehler was chosen as the team's first starter last season, and Urias appears to be in line for that honor this year. Nonetheless, Kershaw is coming off an excellent campaign during which he started the All Star game for the first time and finished with a 2.28 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 137:23 K:BB over 126.1 innings. The southpaw is about as much of a guarantee to put up strong ratios as any pitcher in baseball, but injuries have slowed his ability to put up big counting stats late in his career.

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Cleared to start throwing program Rotowire 3 HRS AGO Treinen (shoulder) has been cleared to begin a throwing program Monday.
He'll play catch for the first time since undergoing right shoulder surgery in November. Treinen is hoping to make it back at some point late this season, but he could very well be out until 2024.
Dodgers' Tony Gonsolin: Throws bullpen session Friday Rotowire 3 HRS AGO Gonsolin (ankle) threw a bullpen session Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
It's the first time he's been on the bump since suffering a sprained left ankle back on March 6. Gonsolin could miss most, if not all, of April as the Dodgers take things slowly with his recovery, but he seems to be progressing well.
Dodgers' Julio Urias: Officially starting Opening Day Rotowire 4 HRS AGO Urias will be on the mound for Thursday's Opening Day matchup with the Diamondbacks, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
As expected, Urias will toe the rubber in the Dodgers' season opener in Arizona. The right-hander has seemingly supplanted Clayton Kershaw as the marquee starter in Los Angeles' rotation, and he'll look to try and match the remarkable 2.16 ERA and 0.96 WHIP he produced in 2022.

Dodgers' Andre Jackson: Wins final bullpen spot By RotoWire Staff 1 hr ago • 1 min read
Jackson will have a spot in the Dodgers' Opening Day bullpen, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Jackson is positioned to operate in long relief out of the gate for Los Angeles, though that role could be a revolving door as the 2023 season plays out. The 26-year-old right-hander has tallied 10 strikeouts with a 1.17 ERA through 7.2 innings this spring in the Cactus League.
