Wow, those Padres are so busy all of a sudden! They've already locked up Blake Snell and now they're after Yu Darvish and other pitchers! Meanwhile, there's chatter that Dodger management is after Trevor Bauer. Tis the season for wild rumors, so let's stay tuned.
The Padres appear to be doubling down in their search for an ace.
San Diego is already on the verge of landing left-hander Blake Snell from Tampa Bay, according to sources. Neither club has confirmed that deal, which is pending physicals.
And the Padres aren't done yet. San Diego is also in active pursuit of Cubs right-hander Yu Darvish, according to sources. The San Diego Union-Tribune has reported that a deal could be done before the day is over.
The 34-year-old Darvish posted a 2.01 ERA last season and finished second in National League Cy Young Award voting.
• Hot Stove Tracker | How Snell deal affects market
It's unclear what the Padres would give up for Darvish, but any trade would almost certainly be an intricate one. Darvish is under team control for three more seasons, and he's owed $59 million.
If the Padres can finalize their deals with Darvish and Snell, it could give them a 2021 rotation that looks something like this:
1. Darvish 2. Snell 3. Dinelson Lamet 4. Chris Paddack 5. Zach Davies
Of course, that doesn't include high-end pitching prospects MacKenzie Gore and Ryan Weathers, and it's worth noting that right-hander Mike Clevinger will return from Tommy John surgery for the 2022 season.
Darvish and general manager A.J. Preller have a history dating back to their time together in the Rangers' organization. As such, Preller’s pursuit of Darvish comes as no surprise.
But considering his penchant for wheeling and dealing, is a Preller blockbuster a surprise anymore?

Dodgers' Garrett Cleavinger: Sent to Dodgers Rotowire 1 HR AGO Cleavinger was sent from the Phillies to the Dodgers on Tuesday as part of a three-team trade which sent Jose Alvarado from the Rays to the Phillies, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports. Cleavinger made his big-league debut in 2020, allowing one run while recording two outs. Prior to that, he'd topped out at the Double-A level, where he posted a 3.66 ERA and a 36.4 percent strikeout rate in 51.2 innings of relief for Reading in 2019 but also walked 14.9 percent of opposing batters. Heading into his age-27 season, the lefty doesn't appear to have a particularly high ceiling unless the Dodgers can straighten out his control problems. www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=cleavi000garwww.fangraphs.com/players/garrett-cleavinger/17897/stats?position=P

Looks like we got a new batting practice pitcher. Now, if we can just move the Vulture back to his previous position, we’ll be set at bullpen catcher as well. Make it happen, Front Office! GO DODGERS!!!

I give them Credit for getting Snell as he is a solid pitcher and better than anyone that they had last year. I just am not impressed with the Darvish deal especially after they gave up Davies. To me, that move is a wash. That said, they will have another wild card parade for sure in 2021.

FINALLY received my 2020 World Series trophy ornament today, but not without conflict and paying nearly double for it.
Seems the order I put in with MLB.com made it all the way to a suburb of West Chester here in Ohio (which is probably no more than five miles from my residence), but from there, they could not locate my home.
Their tracking advised attempts were made on two separate days, but that was complete bull - my wife & I were home on both, the package did not require a signature & no door tags were left on either day.
The final entry on the tracking advised it had been returned back to the seller on 12/24/20, yet when I called (after a 35 minute wait), I was advised in EXTREMELY broken English it was still out for delivery by some Shang-Hi Suzy - honestly, I simply cannot understand why they have CSR’s that can barely speak our language answering their calls.
I was told it was expected for delivery by 1/13/21. Not being a very patient person, I went back to the delivery service with multiple e-mail inquiries regarding the package.
Funny - I received at least six or seven other packages from this same vendor / seller and even returned & received a refund on one while this one small item that I probably wanted more than all of the others was somehow still “out there” in limbo.
The delivery service had zero answers so I again called MLB.com. The wait this time was ninety minutes plus, so I elected for a call back.
Another call, another Asian woman. She finally admitted the package had been returned however, could not be resent as the item was now sold out and none were being shown in their system inventory.
When questioned why the package simply was just re-sent back to me, she had no answer and despite her multiple apologies, I told her she “could stuff her sorries in a sack”.
I KNOW what happened - the minute the ornament arrived back at their warehouse, it got repackaged and sent to the next buyer who had ordered it after selling out.
Rather than checking with me, the original buyer to see if I still wanted it, they simply assumed I returned it myself and went on to the next person in line.
It will be awhile before I order anything from those clowns again. I ended up getting one via eBay. It now hangs proudly on our tree.
GO DODGERS!!!

I don’t know what this says, but if I know nono, it’s probably something snarky. 😝😝😝 Or perhaps it’s just random. I can’t imagine how hard that language is to learn just looking at the intricacies of their alphabet / figures. GO DODGERS!!!

The Dodgers have re-signed reliever Blake Treinen to a two-year deal through the 2022 season with a team option for 2023.

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Re-signs with Dodgers Rotowire 21 MINS AGO Treinen signed a two-year, $17.5 million deal with the Dodgers on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
The deal also includes a club option for a third year worth $8 million. The 32-year-old headed to Los Angeles for the 2020 campaign and had a 3.86 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 22:8 K:BB over 25.2 innings while recording one save and nine holds. Kenley Jansen no longer has a firm grip on the closer's role, and Treinen could step into the job if he continues to perform. Regardless, the right-hander is poised to take on a high-leverage role for the Dodgers in 2021.

Dodgers' David Price: Intends to play in 2021 Rotowire 18 HRS AGO Price indicated Thursday via his personal Twitter account that he currently intends to play this upcoming season after opting out of the 2020 campaign. Manager Dave Roberts said earlier Thursday that he was unsure if the southpaw would elect to play in 2021. However, the 35-year-old has now communicated that he plans on returning to the field, though future developments with the COVID-19 pandemic could very well impact his final decision. If Price does indeed make his Dodger debut next spring, he figures to further bolster a very strong Los Angeles rotation. Saw somewhere that he is still undecided. But, if he doesn't pitch then the Red Sox wouldn't be on the hook for his $16 million and I think the Dodgers for his $15 million.
