I feel like I'm in some apocalyptic syfy movie watching baseball with near empty dugouts and stands, artificial cheers, 25 pitch changeovers and the DH.
But boy it's good to see Belli hit. It's going to be a sprint and not a marathon this bizarre season.

Yes, the Dodgers are good. Yes, the Dbacks are really bad.

Dodgers nearing a massive long-term deal with outfielder Mookie Betts
According to multiple reports, the 27-year-old former MVP is expected to receive a new contract extension north of $350 million, making him one of the highest-paid players in Major League history.

To any and all who have T-Mobile as their cell phone carrier - they are once again offering the MLB package for free to all subscribers. I saw it pop up yesterday on their T-Mobile Tuesday Reward app, but I believe it is still available if you missed yesterday’s offer.
Pretty simple download or update of the MLB app, a couple of clicks on Redeem and you’re good to go. Every team, every game, with most offering both home & away announcer coverage, just in case you can’t put up with John Miller & Joe Morgan, both of whom I personally loathe.
GO DODGERS!!!

WOW! I’m in total shock if this happens and I guess I’ll be eating a bit of crow stew with apologies to Bulldog. I’m guessing this is in the ten year range, but at 37 he could still be fairly viable, especially when the DH is permanently implemented in the NL next year or so. GO DODGERS!!!

Better Mookie than Bryce Harper. Harper always struck me as overrated & a bit of an asshole.

That’s a crazy amount of money on the table and I hope it doesn’t end up biting us in the ass! Harper sure as hell wasn’t worth $30 mil last year. GO DODGERS!!!

Dodgers surprisingly option super prospect Gavin Lux to minors
Jeff Todd, MLB Trade Rumors 1 day ago
The Dodgers have optioned talented young infielder Gavin Lux. Lux recently returned to summer camp after an unexplained absence.
It’s not immediately clear why the Dodgers decided against carrying Lux to open the season. It had long been expected he’d be a key part of the roster after destroying upper-minors pitching in 2019 and holding his own over his MLB debut. That may still come to pass, but Lux will begin the year at the team’s alternate training site awaiting another call-up.
There’s obviously some potential here for service-time implications for the 22-year-old. He logged only 28 days in the majors last year, so even a brief absence in a shortened season could leave him shy of a full year of service when the 2020 campaign wraps up.
Lux obviously has nothing more to prove in the minors, so this decision surely isn’t about his development. With 30 active roster spots, there’s ample space to work with, though the Dodgers are surely committed to carrying loads of extra pitching. The uber-deep organization certainly has many viable candidates to cycle through at second base, where Lux had been the presumed option, though it’s still a bit difficult to imagine he truly fell short on a pure talent assessment.
It’ll be interesting to see how the organization (and Lux himself) discuss the decision when reporters have a chance to pose some questions. It could be there’s some as-yet-unknown developmental or motivational prerogative, or perhaps the Dodgers feel Lux is just in need of further work after a layoff. Whatever the reasoning, the service implications are hard to ignore given that the team could stand to pick up an extra year of control on the back end.

Passan reported the extension at 12 for 365 that's 30 million a year or 13 including this year for 392 that's 30 million a year. 30 isn't the crazy 40 to 45 a year that I had heard. Still a pretty penny though The thing for me is that we know that Price, Kershaw, Jansen, Turner, Kike, Seager, Taylor, Muncy and Pollock etc. will come off the payroll in the next couple of years. I'm thinking the team wants to keep Bellinger and Buehler who are studs. Can the team afford another one or two $300 million dollar contract, IDK. Let's not overlook that the team in order to compete for those rings that Betts wants to bring to Los Angeles will need another formidable starter behind Buehler and a lights out closer to replace Jansen. But, the catch is how many rings will justify this contract and is Betts going to keep up his current productivity in NL West pitcher parks and past 34 years old until his deal is done at age 40. Big questions.

Hi folks.... I’m back.
I CANNOT WAIT until tomorrow. Finally we are back to baseball , and with greatest team in the history of the Dodgers. A lot can go wrong with COVID, injuries and all, but I feel this is our year more than ever. Team is downright dangerous.
Mookie signing is pure brilliance - I don’t really care about the years even though they seem like too much. They will work that out. Consider who we could have had instead - Harper.... Machado .... Rendon.... Lol. Instead we hold out and hit the jackpot. Mookie is top 5 in all of baseball, as is Cody.
Obviously this limits our signings in future. Cody has to be paid, Buehler will have to be paid in a while. Seems the odd man out will be Corey and that does bother me a bit. I see him having a monster year this short season.
I want to see JT get a title badly, he’s been an all time great Dodger, this will be his last season with us 😥 :-(

Betts cotract expires at age 39 - just saying... highly doubt he’s a Dodger til that age though.
The concerns are fair. There is not a chance we are losing out on Cody or WB though. They will figure it out going forward.
Which contracts are the best and the worst? Trout 426.5 for 12 Harper 330 for 13 Stanton 325 for 13 Cole 324 for 9 Machado 300 for 10 Betts - conflicting reports, let’s say 392 for 13 - but seems like he doesn’t get 17mil this year with short season.
