It would take a king's ransom, but Bryant would solve third base, AND a righthanded power bat. Probably need to have a trade similar to what the Lakers did to get AD in order for us to get Bryant...

@billshaikin
From our @jorgecastillo: The #Dodgers' preference for shorter-term deals has led them to pursue a free-agent third baseman -- but not Anthony Rendon, at least not yet: Josh Donaldson

I posted about Donaldson as an option but he is another low hitter with power who struck out in 24% of his plate appearances. The team has plenty of low average guys with power plus he'll be 34.

There used to be talk about moving Seagar to 3rd, and Lux at SS. I guess Turner will move to 1st and Muncy at 2B, that is if that plan is still in the works. Who knows, maybe Seagar is learning the position as I type this. This winter will be the most interesting in recent memory.

Everyone one of these guys is expected to get a good return. The issue is that there would have to be a haul included plus pay their projected salary for 2020. The one that would cost the most on the last year of control is Mookie Betts. All the others are not free agents until after the 2021 season so two seasons of control. Mookie Betts-- $28 mil for 2020-- free agent after 2020 Kris Bryant-- $19 mil for 2020-- free agent after 2021 Franciso Lindor-- $17 mil for 2020-- free agent after 2021 Javier Baez-- $10 mil for 2020-- free agent after 2021 **Mookie Betts by the way, playoffs & World Series .227/ 1 HR

They'd be asking Seager to learn 3rd/ JT to learn 1st/ and Lux and Muncy to improve at short and 2nd. Lux is way better playing 2nd both in range factor and fielding percentage. As improved as Muncy is I don't think anyone trusts him playing 2nd full time. The best case is leaving JT at 3rd, acquiring Lindor for short, leaving Lux at 2nd and Muncy at 1st. Makes that most defensive sense.

I still like Lindor best & agree that we don't want to rotate the entire infield.

So if we were to make a play for Bryant we would probably be stuck with Seager at short & might not have Lux for second. Just not enough bullets in the gun to get both Lindor & Bryant without gutting the team. Something I have been vocally against.
Sorry. I was too distracted by the impeachment proceedings to think that through before posting. Just having Bryant looked so darn good.

Turner has one year left on his contract. Just roll with him. Put & LEAVE Muncy at first & Lux at second. Shortstop is the problem.

Interesting fact about the Houston Astros cheating/stealing signs in 2017. Obviously it went on but:
Home record: 48-33 Away record: 53-28
Home OPS: .812 Away OPS: .834
Home runs scored: 395 Away runs scored: 501
Every offensive category was better on the road.
Doesn't look like the stealing of signs really worked. Lol.

It could be that they used mostly at home and away most importantly for the post- season since that is when it mattered most. Passan did report already that whatever penalties the league hands down to them after their investigation it will be the biggest penalties ever. What I do remember about that series is that it stuck out to me how hard they were hitting every type of pitch, that is impossible to do unless...

Look at the videos, they absolutely did it a lot during the regular season. You can hear the banging on the garbage can when certain pitches were called.
They also definitely did it in the WS. They got one off of Kershaw in game 5 and also I saw video with Darvish in game 3. They were whistling instead of banging the can in the WS.

Yes, they used it during the regular season. But we don't know how often. I don't think they were stupid enough to get caught in the moment. For example, it wouldn't make sense to use it against the crappy teams like the White Sox or Tigers and get caught when it was totally unnecessary. Against the good teams totally though. I'm sure someone will talk and we'll see.

I saw video against the White Sox so you're dead wrong about that. I also saw some against the A's and Mariners who finished last and 4th in their division. Also I remember I saw some against Toronto who also sucked. So much for that theory. smh... everything has to be a debate with you. Why not look at the videos instead of just making it up as you go?
