Who the fuck cares about 50 home runs nowadays? Chicks and children still dig the long ball I guess. HR's and strikeouts are ruining the game. This year there have been 6,401 HRs to date with 11 days left in the season. That projects to well over 6,700 for the year. No other season is even close to that. When Bonds hit 73 in 2001 there were 5,458 total HRs. Project that out and Bonds would have hit around 90 HRs in 2019. But we want to celebrate 50? Lmao. There have been over 40,000 strikeouts this season. Also projects to be the most ever. Strikeouts have increased every year for the last 14 years. The 2019 season is a joke. Let's not celebrate ridiculous "milestones". That is why you are the troll that you are. You don't ever get it. Ask Bellinger if he wants to be at the top of the club HR list?

Only uneducated "fans" would give a shit about 50 HRs n this era. Real baseball fans know it's meaningless, especially in 2019. I don't find anything impressive about that number nowadays.
There will be 60 guys who will hit 30 HRs this season. 60!!!
That's a joke.

Did you ask Bellinger if he cares already?

Yes, "chicks dig the long ball", but what about the other aspects of the game? To change things such as the type of wood that make bats just to please some fans is totally stupid, and such fans probably don't appreciate stolen bases and other things that don't bring instant gratification, or you might say aren't baseball fans at all. And one of these days, a fan will get killed by a foul ball to the head. I'm not sure I agree with you about strikeouts, but they do heavily contribute to ruined arms. The emphasis is to throw that fastball as hard as possible which is to again, please the fans. It wasn't that long ago that the team that led the bigs in K's did it at 8 K's/9 innings. Now, that's about what the team that finishes last in K's does. You know who is REALLY down on the stat? Dr. Mike Marshall. There was a pitcher for the DEVIL Rays in their very early days named Jeff Sparks. Marshall called him the best pitcher in the world but no team would hire him once they leaned who he learned from. The MLB brass just said, "no team is impressed by him", but he had a 3.5 ERA! SMH

What's not to agree about with strikeouts?
2019 set a record for most HRs and most strikeouts. That's a fact.
And anyone who is impressed by 50 HRs nowadays just doesn't get it.
What's more impressive? McGwire hitting 49 as a rookie in 1988 or Alonso doing it this year as a rookie. There were 3,180 total HRs in 1988, there will be almost 6,800 this year.
Joke.

But there were folks more interested in ridiculing small ball then actually paying attention until now. When DDF II was hired I thought this team would be an all around team. Using speed, hitting, and power. It has not been the case. I love baseball but there are countless that have said it is unwatchable anymore because there is no action and I agree.

And let’s not forget about the “new” baseball itself. MLB can deny it all they want, but players and especially pitchers know that the ball this year is wound tighter and is harder than any in the history of the game. Elite pitchers across both leagues have all seen their HR allowed numbers increase into higher and double digits like never before. And now we have these annoying nets all the way down the lines to “protect” the fans from getting beaned by these screaming projectiles. I didn’t go to one game this year (other than a Dayton Dragons minor league contest where I lasted behind those stupid nets all of three innings!). If LA makes it to the WS again this year, we’re set for another trip; but we’ll forgo sitting at field level for the first time in a LONG, LONG time. GO DODGERS!!!

Honestly, what's annoying about the nets? They don't obstruct your view of the field, do they? And with the bats made of much harder wood than ever before, which is THE factor of so many homers hit, you don't think they could save serious injuries if not deaths?

And with the bats made of much harder wood than ever before, which is THE factor of so many homers hit, you don't think they could save serious injuries if not deaths? They are TOTALLY annoying and yes, in my opinion, they do obstruct your view if you are sitting where we were (fifth row). As someone who underwent lasik eye surgery a year or so back and now enjoying 20 / 10 vision, both my wife (who also has undergone lasik) and I found it impossible to enjoy the game from there and were forced to move to the left field concourse. It’s almost like your eyes are “drawn” to them and we both felt we were going “cockeyed” after only a few minutes. I get MLB & the owners wanting to protect their fans (and even more so their pocketbooks) from 100 + mph “rocks” being sent their way. And I have seen more than a few people get hit by foul balls. But in the hundreds of games I’VE attended, 99% at field level and / or behind the LA dugout, I’ve never been hit. Had a few close calls, but no impacts or injuries. But then again, when I go to games, I actually WATCH the games. I’m not there to socialize or text or talk on my cell phone. I watch EVERY pitch and swing. I KNOW the danger of sitting in those seats requires my FULL attention to the game and I pay the broker fees and up charges to do so because I like being that close to the field & players. For those that are too concerned with what the Kardashian’s are doing, there are literally tens of thousands of other seats in EVERY stadium. It’s as simple as this - if you don’t want to get hit by a flying object and don’t want to put your family / children in harms way, either find another seat or don’t go to games at all. It’s only a matter of time before they start stringing the nets from the top eaves of every stadium all the way down to the field. Catching a foul ball or home run will become a thing of the past. And all it’s going to take is someone taking a beaner in the bleachers or upper loge before the entire stadium will be ensconced in netting. And when (not “if”) that happens, I will discontinue going to games altogether. GO DODGERS!!!

Like I said before, who the fuck cares? 50 is no longer worthy of celebrating. Get to 60 and I might actually give a shit. Pay attention, there are nearly 40 HRs hit in MLB every single day. You’re celebrating nothing.
