Pederson slashing .235 / .297 / .368 at first as of this morning. 2 homeruns in 74 plate appearances. 5 walks & 18 K's. He has 27 walks & 51 strikeouts in the outfield. A .966 fielding percentage in the infield.

The bigger the picture the more gory details can be picked out. Jacques is a bloody mess at first base. Joc “progressing” at 1B is a joke. Almost as funny as when Doc pulled Hill from a critical Game 4 of the World Series last year at 70 pitches. Wait - that wasn’t funny at all. His progress is compatible to a 600 pound man losing a pound and stating his new diet is “progressing nicely”. Sooner than later he’s going to “progress” us right out of the best record in baseball, if the pen doesn’t beat him to it. But let’s go ahead and sign another couple “never was, never will be” utility IF / OF’s that can get us a hit once every five at bats. That’ll show ‘em! GO DODGERS!!! |

I agree, they put him in a bad spot. This experiment should be over.
Call up Lux to play 2nd, get Max off of 2nd base and over to 1st. The defense is instantly better.
Lux is not on the 40 man but it should not be hard to find room for him with all these insurance signings lately.

This is tedious work.
Joc played his first game at first base June 20th. He came in as a pinch hitter, moved over to first, & finally to left. He hit a two run homer. The Dodgers barely hung on to beat the Giants 9-8, as the bullpen imploded yet again. Chris Taylor was charged with an error at shortstop. Was that the game Chris made a perfect relay throw to first base & no one was covering? Anyway, big mistake hitting that homerun because it gave Doc & Friedman ideas. It was as a pinch hitter though.
The next game was the very next day. June 21st. Joc led off & played first. I see no errors for anyone. Of course that doesn't tell the whole story. Pederson went 4-0-0-0 w/ 1 strikeout, as Walker Buehler pitched a complete game gem versus the Rockies. Dodgers win 4-2.
They're now 2-0 with Joc at first.
June 22nd Pederson starts at first & leads off. 5-0-2-0 w/ a walk. Another error charged to Taylor at short. Maybe that was the game with no one covering. Dodgers beat the Rockies 5-4. They're now 3-0 & Pederson is batting 3-10 / .300-1-2.
June 23rd, Joc plays first & leads off. 3-0-0-0 w/ a strikeout. No errors charged. Dodgers beat Colorado 6-3. Now 4-0. Pederson batting 3-13 / .231-1-2.
June 24th, Pederson starts at first & leads off. 5-1-1-0. Still no errors charged. Dodgers fall to Arizona 8-5. The Dbacks scored 4 in the 8th inning. All charged to Dylan Floro. Dodgers now 4-1 with Pederson at first. Joc is 4-18 / .222-1-2 w/ 2 runs scored.
June 26th, Joc starts at first based & leads off. 4-0-1-0 with a K. Taylor is charged with an error & Joc picks up 2 of his own, in an 8-2 loss to Arizona. This was the game Gonsolin started. 3 of the 8 runs were unearned. Russell Martin pitched. Dodgers now 4-2 & Joc is 5-22 / .227-1-2. But he's really 4-21 / .190-0-0. The two run homer he hit was as a pinch hitter. The Dodgers are 4-2 & Pederson has 2 errors. I don't know about Taylor's error. Whether Joc had anything to do with it.
June 27th was in Colorado. Joc led off at first base & then moved to leftfield. 6-1-2-1. No homer. Muncy started at second & moved to first. He had his 7th error. In the 9th inning, & as a first baseman. Dodgers win 12-8. Now 5-2. Joc is 6-27 / .222-0-1 as a leadoff hitter at first base. All of his at bats in this game came at first base. Still just 2 errors. Pssshh! JUST.
June 28th. Joc is at first & leading off. 5-1-1-0. 2 errors by Taylor at short. This time I looked. 2 throwing errors in the fifth inning. Turner & Kelly had errors as well. Was that Kelly's infamous Charlie Brown play? Ball popped out of his glove? Dodgers lose 13-9. Now 5-3. Pederson is 7-32 / .219-0-1.
June 29th, Joc leads off at 1st. 3-0-1-0 w/ a walk. Muncy has his 8th error. It was at 2nd base. Dodgers lose 5-3 to Colorado. One unearned run. Now 5-4. Pederson is 8-35 / .229-0-1.
June 30th. Joc leads off & plays leftfield the entire game. 5-1-3-3 w/ a walk. Julio Urias commits the Dodgers' only error that day. Joc's & the Dodgers' statistics stay frozen because he played left. A .556 winning percentage for the team. An abysmal line for Joc.
That's more than enough for now.
