Another bullpen game tonight. Yumpin Yimini the only fly in the ointment. Then again, we still have an inning to go and Ima gonna go out on a limb and guess Doc gives the ninth to the Vulture.
Hoping for a couple insurance runs here in the top of the ninth.

Insurance run (thanks to Joc) and vintage KJ to close it out. 102 wins ties us with Yanks; still two behind Houston.
Nationals feeling pretty confident, but they’ll have to face either the Cards or Brew Crew in that Wild Card game.
Washington has the worst pen of any of the contenders with an ERA well north of 5 and a half.
October can’t come soon enough!

Jansen through a scoreless and hitless inning to record his 32nd save in a 6-4 win over the Padres on Wednesday.
Jansen made quick work of the Padres, facing the minimum on 11 pitches to nail down his 32nd save. With this save, Jansen became the 30th player in MLB history with 300 saves. The 31-year-old has a 5-3 record with a 3.77 ERA and 77 strikeouts through 62 innings.

Dodgers' Joe Kelly: Unlikely to pitch until Sunday

Kelly (lower body) is not expected to pitch again until Sunday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Manager Dave Roberts previously suggested that Kelly would return to the mound Thursday, but plans appear to have changed and Kelly will now have only one outing -- the season finale against the Giants -- to gear up for the postseason. He'll need to make it through a bullpen session first, currently scheduled for Friday. Although Roberts has insisted that Kelly would be pitching if the playoffs were underway, Kelly's lack of playing time down the stretch -- he has appeared in only one game since Sept. 14 -- and the vague details about his condition are becoming increasingly concerning.

And, Sadler has looked good and Ferguson is hot.

Oh looky here DDF II, Maeda goes for the save in the 9th and gets all 3 outs and looks good at it. Been saying Maeda can get all 3 outs for a while now.

Kenta now has 3 saves. “DDF II” has had him do this before.

Kenta saves it, nice job. Kersh finishes 16-5 After an initial adjustment period, May & Maeda seem to be doing quite well in the pen. Now if we can only feed poor Kenta. |
