Little play on words. Should be state of the pen. So far this year our bullpen has been the main concern. I saw it posted that they had a 6 something ERA just a few days ago. The batting average against was close to .300.
This morning the ERA is 5.55 & the BAA is .280. Their won / loss record is 7-2. This is a combination of the Dodgers' late innings offensive fireworks & the pen simply vulturing wins that rightfully belonged to the starters. They have 2 blown saves among their 6 opportunities (thank you Joe Kelly). A .331 OB% & .531 SLG%. They've allowed 8 homeruns in 35.2 innings.
Chief culprits...
(These numbers might be slightly off because the information was obtained from Baseball Reference before 6:00 AM)
Brock Stewart - 18.00 ERA & 27.50 WHIP in 4.0 innings. Joe Kelly - 16.20 ERA & 2.400 WHIP in 3.1 innings. Yimi Garcia - 14.73 ERA & 2.73 WHIP in 3.2 innings (3 homers allowed)
Inherited runners scoring...
Dylan Floro - 2 Kenley Jansen - 2 Pedro Baez - 1 Caleb Ferguson - 1 Brock Stewart - 1
Bullpen hero so far...
Russell Martin
We'll follow the progress of our heroes in this thread.

Welll Brock is gone, that can’t hurt.
Once they fix this bullpen we are set.

Welll Brock is gone, that can’t hurt. Once they fix this bullpen we are set. Dodgers' Brock Stewart: Heading to Triple-A Rotowire Apr 7, 2019 Stewart was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday. Stewart allowed eight runs on nine hits over four innings, and gave up multiple runs in each of his three appearances. Dennis Santana was called up from Triple-A to fill out the Dodgers' bullpen. Dodgers' Dennis Santana: Heading to majors Rotowire 1H ago Santana will be called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports. Santana will join the team for the series finale in Denver with the bullpen in need of a fresh arm. The 22-year-old made his lone major-league appearance last season and allowed five runs on six hits over 3.2 innings.

Good catch. Hopefully Santana is okay. I was never comfortable with Stewart breaking camp with the big club.

Only problem is Santana sucked in Spring Training too. ERA over 8.00.
We gotta fix the pen and we will be champs.

Dylan Floro - 2 Kenley Jansen - 2 Pedro Baez - 1 Caleb Ferguson - 1 Brock Stewart - 1 I was in Stewart's corner a couple of seasons ago. But he just hasn't been productive when given the opportunity. He has options remaining so the team might not give up on him yet but he can't keep getting chances and not producing for the team. IDK what Kelly's issue is. Good thing it's early and he might take flight. Yimi is out of options and dude can't throw strikes. Just like Stewart he has some velocity but that's not enough. The positive is that the team is off to a good start in spite of those dudes blowing up. Hopefully Santana takes advantage of his opportunity.

Doesn't Kelly look scared? Hopefully I'm misreading that.

Dodgers' JT Chargois: Called up by Dodgers Rotowire Apr 9, 2019
Chargois was recalled by the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Chargois is up to replace Hyun-Jin Ryu, who was placed on the injured list with a groin strain in a corresponding move. The 28-year-old pitched 32.1 innings of relief for the Dodgers last season, recording a 3.34 ERA while striking out 29.6 percent of opposing batters.

As of 4/19/19
Bullpen Stats ERA 4.60 (18th in MLB) BAA .250 (21st) OBP .308 (13th) OPS .725 (15th) SV% .667 (17th) WHIP 1.24 (11th) K/BB 3.36 (5th) K/9 8.50 (26th)
Very mediocre, we'll see how they improve.
BTW, another stat that jumps out, opponents are 9 for 9 in SBs against the BP. 1 for 2 against starters.

BTW, another stat that jumps out, opponents are 9 for 9 in SBs against the BP. 1 for 2 against starters. YIKES!!! Once again, it’s more than apparent to some of us that they signed the WRONG Red Sock. I wasn’t a fan of his or this signing to begin with and he has done nothing thus far to dissuade that opinion. Jansen cannot continue to give up a run or two every other time he’s called on either. We’re not always going to have that “cushion” for his mistake pitches. I’ve been pushing for Kimbrel (or Keuchel) for awhile now - it’s time to shore up this pen before someone else grabs either of these guys. Cuz I can pretty much guarantee that’s gonna happen sooner than later. GO DODGERS!!!

Yeah, draft picks may be an issue. The already lost the 2nd rounder for Pollock so they would lose another. They did gain one pick back for Yas though.

Another stellar performance by the pen. April will soon be May and over half of our losses (pending tonight) are the direct result of a poorly assembled relief corps.
I don’t expect them to be perfect and us to win every game. But they have allowed two or three run leads late to disappear far too often this year wrestling defeat from the hands of victory.
Two “special K’s” still waiting on calls. Time to get one of them.
GO DODGERS!!!

Seems like a shame to put together such a talented group only to muck it up with the most limited part of the team. These guys may pitch (each) 3 or 4 innings a week. Those are proving to be very costly innings though.

This time it was Urias with the gas & Baez with the match. Another loss.
Starters have a 3.41 ERA & .228 BAA. Those are 5th & 7th respectively.
Bullpen is 4.62 & .241. Those are 20th & 19th. 5 blown saves in 15 opportunities. Only Kansas City, Pittsburgh & Seattle are worse.
