That was what the box score looked like. Urias has me worried. I kinda feel bad for the kid. First of all, with that domestic violence jack job that he went through. Was he responsible? Sure he was. But pushing someone resulting in zero injury and zero charges by the LAPD is a bit different from hitting, slapping, knocking down, etc. and his suspension was excessive IMHO. But let’s look at how the Dodgers have used him. First, he’s a starter, then he’s a reliever, then back to starter, and so on, and so on. I don’t think he or LA know what his role is or is going to be. There are different mindsets and routines between the two, with starters getting plenty of pregame warmups as well as pen sessions on days off. A pen guy has to be ready, sometimes in minutes after the call is made. Perhaps Julio isn’t getting enough time or simply isn’t suited for the pen. LA better find out soon and quick before they use a roster spot for him as a reliever. And if that is the case, they’d best make sure that he’s fully warmed and ready before bringing him into ANY postseason game. GO DODGERS!!!

Sometimes relievers give up runs, guys. Fact is that the bullpen is pretty good even though Jansen has not been all that reliable.
5th in MLB in bullpen ERA. 2nd in MLB in BAA. 2nd in MLB in OPS. 1st in MLB in WHIP.
Numbers don't lie.

I don’t doubt the numbers. And I’d guess this year is just an anomaly from what we’ve had and come to expect. After all, we had the Gagne years, followed by the Ox / Saito combo and then several lights out years from Jansen. And yes - all of the above teams had games that the pen gave up runs and blew saves on before (or if) these guys were brought in. But this year - they have just been SO inconsistent that it’s taken a front seat over how well the rest of the team is doing. In my nearly 50 years of fandom, I honestly cannot remember a year when there were this many games lost by the pen. I’m SURE there were others and I’m not going to look up the stats. But I guess we just don’t expect to lose games that we’re winning late like we have this year because we never seemed to before. Let’s just hope those numbers don’t lie come October because one or two bad outings in the same series could and likely will result in another “wait ‘til next year”. GO DODGERS!!!

GO DODGERS!!! Agreed. Same holds true for all 10 playoff teams. 👍

Liked Maeda closing it out last night CBS Sportsline reporter says Kenta probably won't get too many more opportunities to close. I think he should.

Kenta not looking so good tonight. Thank goodness the O decided to show up after being no hit for the first four.
Looks like Doc is going to try Kenley for the four out save. Dude has enough problems just getting three this year.
Hold onto your asses, boys . . .

THAT’S the Jansen we want to see. If he can put together a few games like this in a row, it would sure go a long way in building both his as well as the fans confidence (this fan included!) that he’s going to be “the man” in the ninth.
We will see . . .

It might have been that, with a 5 run lead, Kenta didn't give his all, or he did some experimenting. In a closer situation, he would've beared down harder.

He didn’t do a lot of his “nibbling” around the plate and I don’t believe he went full on any count, getting all four batters on five or fewer pitches. Started all four he faced with a wicked K, although the one to his final batter was questionable and looked both high and outside. If he’s back, I’ll give the guy all the credit he deserves. But it seems every time he throws like last night this year, his next appearance or the one after it takes a dump. Only time and his next couple of shots will tell . . . GO DODGERS!!!

Dodgers' Ross Stripling: Performs well in relief
Rotowire Sep 18, 2019
Stripling blanked the Rays over two innings in relief Tuesday in the Dodgers' 7-5 victory. He worked around a pair of base hits and struck out three in the 38-pitch appearance.
Stripling had been deployed as a starter in his previous outing Sept. 11 in Baltimore, but he shifted to relief this week in preparation for the role he'll fill for the Dodgers in the postseason. Clayton Kershaw, Walker Buehler and Hyun-Jin Ryu look set to serve as the Dodgers' three primary starters heading into the playoffs, while the fourth and final rotation could essentially be filled by a committee of multi-inning options that may include Stripling.

Dodgers' Kenley Jansen: Earns sixth-straight 30-save season
Rotowire 1H ago
Jansen picked up the save against Tampa Bay on Tuesday, pitching 1.1 scoreless innings and striking out two.
Jansen was called upon to get the final four outs and delivered with little resistance, tossing 14 of 19 pitches for strikes and whiffing two of the four hitters he faced. The 31-year-old seems to have found his groove in September, allowing only one run while picking up three saves and posting a 7:2 K:BB over 6.1 innings. Despite some indications of reduced effectiveness this season, Jansen remains one of the most feared closers in baseball, racking up 30 saves in 37 chances while posting a 3.57 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 75:14 K:BB over 58 innings.

It comes as no surprise, at least to this fan and poster that the Vulture has struck again. Did he get hosed on the third strike to Choi? Absolutely.
But get the eff over it and don’t serve up a floating meatball with a 1 - 2 count after already allowing a single, a stolen base and a walk in the inning.
I’ve been saying it all year - the dude is done and should be removed from the closer role before he costs us another title this year.
We all know Doc has an affinity for flirting with insanity. Will he be able to overcome that in October? Hope springs eternal . . .
GO DODGERS!!!
