Dodgers' Tony Gonsolin: Picks up win in relief
Rotowire 2H ago
Gonsolin (3-2) was credited with the win against Baltimore on Thursday, tossing three innings and allowing one run on two hits while striking out four.
Gonsolin was expected to follow Rich Hill after two innings, but the Dodgers were forced to bridge the gap with two additional relievers after Hill left with a knee injury after retiring only two batters. The change in plans did little to phase Gonsolin, who allowed a solo home run to Pedro Severino but otherwise limited the Orioles to a harmless single while whiffing four in his three innings. The 25-year-old has been impressive thus far in eight appearances for the big club, posting a 2.83 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 31:10 K:BB across 35 innings. Although six of his outings have come as a starter, Gonsolin's role moving forward is unclear, particularly with Hill's status hanging in the air and numerous other pitchers dividing time between starting and long relief this season.

Yeah, pretty sad to end a career this way, but hey, he's just about 40 isn't he? He's been great for us when he's been healthy. And next year's rotation could be Keshaw, Buehler, Ryu, Gonsolin, and Stripling. But who knows, maybe we'll import a starter I don't know about Ryu. It might be May & or Urias. Agree, Gonsolin, May, Urias, Stripling, and even Ferguson can start. Hill would be a health risk and Ryu might finally want to cash in.

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Sitting Friday as expected
Rotowire Sep 13, 2019
Turner (ankle) is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Mets, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Manager Dave Roberts said Thursday he didn't believe Turner would start Friday's series opener, so it's no surprise to see him out of the lineup. The veteran third baseman was confirmed to be dealing with a mild left ankle sprain after undergoing an MRI and X-rays this week, and he could return to action later during this weekend's series against the Mets. Matt Beaty receives another start at the hot corner in his absence.
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Officially return from injured list
Rotowire Sep 13, 2019
Muncy (wrist) was activated off the 10-day injured list Friday.
Muncy sustained the small right wrist fracture Aug. 28 but is ready to rejoin the Dodgers after a couple weeks on the shelf. The 29-year-old has a .253/.375/.525 slash line with 33 home runs and 87 RBI and will immediately slot back into his starting role at first base, batting second.

Gee. Think the opposing pitcher is a righty? Here we go again with another jackass Torre inspired lineup. We’ll be lucky to score more than a run or two. GO DODGERS!!!

LOVE it when I’m wrong! Kersh keeps plodding along putting up quality start after quality start. Probably took him out one batter too late, allowing that walk to load the bases.
Kelly with a decent job getting out of the inning allowing only one run and a great play on the ball back to him.
Lux heating up again and Rios with a bomb from the bench.
GO DODGERS!!!

Dodgers' Rich Hill: Plays catch Saturday
Rotowire Sep 14, 2019
Hill (knee) played catch on the field prior to Saturday's game, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
This is an encouraging sign after Hill left Thursday's game -- his first game back from a forearm injury -- with left knee discomfort. His preliminary diagnosis was a left MCL strain. The Dodgers will have Hill undergo an MRI on Monday to get a better read on the issue.
Dodgers' Will Smith: Back on bench
Rotowire Sep 14, 2019
Smith is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.
Smith has been getting every other day off and that trend will continue; he gives way to Russell Martin behind the plate after going 0-for-4 in Friday's series opener. He was off to a blistering start in the majors, but Smith is just 3-for-27 to begin September. Ideally, he'll be able to make some adjustments before the end of the regular season.

Dodgers say it’s ‘very unlikely’ rookie Alex Verdugo will be ready for the NLDS

NEW YORK — Alex Verdugo will rejoin the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Tuesday, but not to play baseball. The rookie outfielder hasn’t resumed baseball activities since he injured his back in a game on a rehabilitation assignment Sept. 2 and won’t when he returns to California from Arizona, where he has been stationed.
With 20 days remaining until Game 1 of the National League Division Series, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts acknowledged it’s “very unlikely” Verdugo will be on the roster for the first round. His regular season is almost certainly over.
“But we expect to play through October, so there’s no hard deadline anyway,” Roberts said. “The key is to do whatever it takes to get him healthy. And then where that leads us, we’ll know more.”
Verdugo, 23, was placed on the injured list Aug. 6 with a strained oblique. That injury healed by the end of August, so he was sent on a minor league rehab assignment with short-season Ogden. He was slated to spend a week playing in games for the affiliate. He played in one and aggravated a back problem that began nagging him in May.
Verdugo’s absence is a blow for the Dodgers. He batted .294 with 12 home runs and an .817 on-base-plus-slugging percentage. He’s a high-contact-rate hitter who doesn’t strike out often. His 13 percent strikeout rate is the second lowest on the team behind Matt Beaty. Defensively, Verdugo is a plus outfielder and possesses perhaps the outfield group’s best arm.

Nice to knock the Mets down a couple notches this weekend. Just need them to go away already. I went Friday night, 1st time I ever saw Kershaw pitch in person

We've not been scoring many runs. We better get out of that rut or we won't be long the playoffs. I wonder what's wrong with Cody's bat, he's just been hitting singles. Getting Verdugo back would be great, even if he's not eligible for the playoffs.
