Bachelor Party was on again this morning. I love that movie. What was the one guy's name? The one always cursing out his wife? He tried slashing his wrists with an electric razor. I think he was watching a Shirley Temple movie & said it reminded him of his wife. He punctuated that with - "BITCH!!" The mule scene is always classic. An all around classic. My friends used to give me shit about the tranny that “also works on BMW’s”. I had a BMW Model 2002 at the time. Great little car with a manual crank sunroof and KILLER Blaupunct stereo! Suicide dudes name was Brad. GO DODGERS!!! I was still with my wife in 1988 when I took my 318i into a BMW shop on La Brea in Inglewood. The shop owner was German. He had the scariest looking tranny ever as a girlfriend. I hated that car. It was like The Money Pit.

Now I know why John Malkovich never uses an accent. Even in movies like The Three Musketeers, when every other Frenchman had a British accent. Rounders just went off. Malkovich's Russian accent was pitiful.
Excellent movie though.

Will I need a converter or adapter to stream on my mother's very old Toshiba big tube TV? Good question; I’m not sure, but I think streaming requires a smart TV so that apps for the streaming services can be downloaded onto the TV for access. I could be wrong . . . GO DODGERS!!!

A sales rep at Target is under the impression an adapter wouldn't work. He said rabbit ears would though. I'll get both. JFK just came on. I watched this years ago with a very nice (& extremely hot) Puerto Rican cocktail waitress & my daughter. I forget which conspiracy theory this one adheres to.

Dr. Zhivago went off a little while ago. Now Anna Karenina is on. Everyone has British accents. I won't even bother to see if these are British productions, because British is the default accent anyway. Imagine a western about Billy the Kid.
'I say there, old boy. I seem to have the drop on you.'
'So you do. Jolly fine job, my good chap. Shall we shoot it out?'
'Rather.'
'Indeed.'

Caught a couple of older flicks last night.
The Monuments Men with George Clooney, Bill Murray, Matt Damon, John Goodman, Kate Blanchett and several others tells the tale of seven older “recruits” who are hired by the US government to retrieve and recover all of the works of art stolen by Hitler and the Germans at the end of WWII.
Hitler had a plan to use them within his own Führer Museum and they included thousands of paintings, busts and statues from all of the greats that were hidden throughout bunkers, mines and even castles in Europe.
Pretty good flick with humorous touches throughout and a brief cameo by George’s dad Nick (who for years was a nightly news personality here in Cin City) at the end.
⚾️⚾️⚾️
Old, by M. Night Shyamalan followed and while still pretty creepy, did not quite make it to the level of some of his previous works.
I didn’t know a single actor in the film other than Francesca Eastwood (Clint’s daughter), who’s part is very brief.
It tells the story of a vacationing couple and their two children along with several other couples who are on holiday at a posh resort.
They are enticed by the manager to visit a private beach which they are all delivered to via resort van their second day.
A rapper, known as Mid-Sized Sedan, with a constantly bleeding nose, is found there upon their arrival and soon thereafter, his dead girlfriend washes up in the surf. She is previously seen the night before getting naked and headed into the water for a late night swim.
Things go sour very quickly with the typical racist accusations of the rapper killing her and special paranoia by a cardiac physician and chief of medicine, who we later find out is a raging mental schizophrenic.
The two children of the original couple immediately begin to age and go from 6 and 11 to teenagers within a few hours of their arrival.
The aging then begins to affect everyone there and once they all figure it out, several unsuccessful attempts to leave the beach and go back to the resort occur, resulting in deaths.
It all comes down to the two kids being the only ones left the following morning. As always, I won’t spoil the ending or what the beach was really being used for.
But M. Night does a good job of wrapping the story up with the only questions being what made this beach so lethal and how did the resort owners know and discover its powers?

Just saw the video for the remake of Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out for a Hero” by Adam Lambert who continues to tour with Queen.
Quite talented with a fantastic voice (not Freddy, but certainly in the ballpark).
But honestly, I don’t think I’ve EVER seen a gayer video. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. 😄😄😄

Sat thru nearly three hours of The Thin Red Line last night.
As a supposed “masterpiece” by Terrence Malick and named the “best” war movie ever produced by Scorcese (who knows a bit about making movies), I was certainly curious.
The acting was good as expected by Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, John Cusack and a host of other big Hollywood names, but the film itself I found to be very “meh”.
It tells the tale of the taking of Guadalcanal toward the end of WWII. The fighting and action scenes were fairly intense, but nowhere near those of “Saving Private Ryan” or even the sappy “Pearl Harbor”.
There was a lot of philosophical inner narration by each of the main characters, a good deal of which I didn’t really understand, to tell you the truth.
I was kinda in and out throughout the lengthy viewing, which didn’t start until around one a.m., but if a movie is good and keeps my attention and interest, I usually have no problem staying up and seeing every frame.
This one just didn’t do it for me.

He was willing to sacrifice anyone & anything to get to where he thought he deserved to be. Bite the Bullet was on again the other day. I really like that flick. It's a man & his horse. How much is he willing to put his friend, the horse, through to get what he wanted. Excellent performances by Gene Hackman & James Coburn.

Atlantic City is on. This is an older flick about an aging mobster / bodyguard (Burt Lancaster) & how he relives part of his past by stumbling on a stash of coke & selling it bit by bit to gamblers. Also stars Susan Sarandon.

Also stars Susan Sarandon. Remember seeing this one when I was younger and we first got cable with HBO & Cinemax; I think they only broadcast @ six hours daily. Sarandon was pretty hot back then and I don’t recall any “full” nudity, but the scene with her in that white slip was enough to illicit MULTIPLE viewings by this 15 - 16 year old pubescent. Movie was pretty good, too! GO DODGERS!!!

The Hunt for Red October just went off. I read at least one critic lambast the choice of Sean Connery as the submarine commander. Maybe because he had a Scottish accent. Not British.
