USS Indianapolis - Men of Courage was on Starz last night. Made in 2016, but I honestly don’t ever remember seeing ads for its theatrical release back then. It tells the story of the Navy warship that was sent under top secret cover to deliver the two atom bombs that were dropped on Japan to end the war. And while it’s unescorted trip to to the drop point was flawless, the return trip - not so much. It was hit by multiple Japanese sub torpedos and sank into the Pacific with over 1,300 crewmen. And while a good deal of them survived the sinking, in the next four days of being stranded at sea with minimal supplies, close to half died either from injuries sustained as the ship went down or were eaten alive by sharks. What a COMPLETELY DREADFUL way to go! The survivors were eventually rescued by a bomber pilot who landed his plane in the ocean, allowing them to climb on its wings and in its hull until boats could arrive. The commander of the ship (played by Nicholas Cage) was made the scapegoat for the Navy and was eventually court martialed for his “failure to use zig zagging” maneuvers to evade the torpedoes. Even after testimony by the Japanese sub commander who confirmed that those maneuvers would not have made any difference as their sub was too close to the Indy, a guilty verdict was still awarded. The commander shortly thereafter took his own life. After years and years of appeals, the court martial was eventually rescinded and signed off on by Bill Clinton. I never knew of this event from WWII until seeing this movie. I also learned that the Japanese had developed torpedoes that would include a suicide kamakazi “pilot” that could and would get inside the torpedo and “steer” it to its target. Crafty little bastards! By the way - this story is told in great detail by Robert Shaw in the classic “Jaws”. Guess I just realized that! Pretty decent flick directed by Mario Van Peebles. ⚾️⚾️⚾️ 1/2 GO DODGERS!!! We were both watching it. I knew the story & passed out though. I had never heard of the movie either. Fucked up. The man was cleared 50 years later.

Shine a Light is on. The Stones still rock. Only got to see them live once - at Churchill Downs in Louisville. Our seats were actually ON the racetrack. Miserable night - high 40’s, drizzling from Alice Cooper’s (opener) first note until the Stones last. Still one of the coolest and best shows I’ve ever been to. Three plus hours out of a bunch of dudes that were almost as old as my grandfather was when he passed. Played EVERY song I wanted to hear and quite a few more. Didn’t have a beer all night - strictly stayed with Maker’s and when I ran my flask dry moved to Woodford Reserve. GO DODGERS!!!

Been watching the History Channel. It's fascinating the lengths both sides went to in WWII to drug their troops into being 'super soldiers.'
Also what death traps those troop landing crafts were.

Why is the default accent for any foreigner in movies, British? Seriously. You ever notice that?

Don’t know much about “streaming” or those sticks, but I have a bud that has been using one for years and he LOVES it! Gets first run movies while they are still on theater screens as well as ALL sports, movie channels, pay-per-view, etc. The only issue I have heard is you need a REALLY good & fast internet service and even with that, there are occasional screen “freezes” where you will get the “rotating” circle in the middle of your screen while the system “catches up” or “resets”. We have “altafiber” here in Cincy which RARELY goes out or down and it runs us @ $200 a month but includes EVERY movie channel available, pay-per-view (including “adult” features) as well as both our high speed internet and home phone line which I still need for my job. GO DODGERS!!!

Caught both Jack Reacher movies back to back on A & E over the weekend. Both VERY entertaining and who knew Tom Cruise could be such a bad ass?
The sequel included Cobie Smolders, one of my fav hotties from the “How I Met Your Mother” series.
No nudity and they kinda “butched” her up as an MP Major, but she still looked hot to me.
Real good plots, story lines and twists in both; lots of action, car chases, guns and fights.
⚾️⚾️⚾️ 1/2 to both
GO DODGERS!!!

GO DODGERS!!! Thanks. That's pretty much what Armando says. Spectrum internet & phone service hasn't been working for me here. Maybe they would get more on the ball if I cut down on services. Another guy told me you can get introductory rates by just canceling & getting one of their reps to re-up you. Sounds like a can't lose ploy. I just wanted to know if I would have to settle for less for a while. Thanks again.

I just wanted to know if I would have to settle for less for a while. Thanks again. I use that “I’ll take my entire package elsewhere” every year when I re-up. I’m not opposed to a minimal four or five bucks a month increase from year to year, but if you don’t call and renegotiate, they will jack it anywhere from $75 - $100 per month, which is ridiculous. What annoys me to NO end is they’ll lock you in at a set rate from month to month for a year or two, and within three or four months, it starts to creep up - a buck here, another buck there. I locked into a two year set rate last February. I had to pay a couple of bucks extra per month to get that second year, but figured it would be worth it not to have to make that call again in a few months for 2023 rates. Sure enough - around six months in it started creeping up. When it got close to $5 more, I called and LIT their asses up. I got their usual bullshit about “royalty fees” and taxing / service charge increases. BUZZZ - wrong answer, chief. I AGREED to THIS SET AMOUNT and any fees or charges that are increased by YOUR suppliers YOU eat, not pass off on me. I’ve been with T-Mobile for over four years now. We got a $35 / line unlimited everything plan when we signed up and I get charged exactly $70 a month, EVERY month. Dude at Altafiber caved, agreed to lower and set my rate as originally negotiated until February, 2024 and refunded ALL of the additional charges that had been added above that set rate. I can almost guarantee I’ll be calling them again before that contract renewal date. T-Mobile is offering high speed Internet and home phone service for @ $50 / month. My current price with my Altafiber package is around double that. I will not hesitate for a second to bail on Altafiber if they continue to eff with me. GO DODGERS!!!

Bachelor Party was on again this morning. I love that movie. What was the one guy's name? The one always cursing out his wife? He tried slashing his wrists with an electric razor. I think he was watching a Shirley Temple movie & said it reminded him of his wife. He punctuated that with - "BITCH!!"
The mule scene is always classic.

My friends used to give me shit about the tranny that “also works on BMW’s”. I had a BMW Model 2002 at the time. Great little car with a manual crank sunroof and KILLER Blaupunct stereo! Suicide dudes name was Brad. GO DODGERS!!!
