That’s quite a list and I see you have quite a few that would be on mine as well (probably in excess of half) I’d have to include these gems: Monty Python & The Holy Grail Monty Python’s Life of Brian Empire Records The Commitments Used Cars GO DODGERS!!! I wonder if I can make a thread that is editable by all - like a Community thread? I’d like to see a feature that would allow us to just copy / quote the LAST entry in a post, rather than the ENTIRE post. Not sure what happened with those made by indo in this thread, but it takes a dozen or so swipes just to get by them and to the bottom of the page where the latest posts are. Maybe the “techies” can look into this? GO DODGERS!!!

Been watching Battle for the Planet of the Apes & Blade Runner: 2049. I didn't like the originals in either. Usually remakes are just dumbed down action packed special effects extravaganzas. I have to admit though that both of these movies improved on their predecessors.
The original Planet of the Apes franchise was filmed during the Cold War. The threat of a nuclear attack was real & so fit in more with the times. With the rise of terrorism, a biochemical holocaust has become a greater threat. It would also explain the survival of the apes. Caesar's character is more complex than any of the original's. The scene where he was being crucified was an obvious allusion to Jesus dying for our sins. Woody Harrelson was ruthless but fighting for the survival of his species. At the end, when Ceasar confronted a drunken Harrelson, & Woody no longer possessed the power of speech, was tragic. Caesar left the gun with Woody. He knew he was that committed to his cause. Sure enough, Harrelson shot himself rather than regress to a more primitive state.
The original Blade Runner (that has such a cult following) seemed disjointed to me. Harrison Ford using a pay phone was very antiquated. The homicidal cyborg that looked like a poor man's Billy Idol, out of place.
These movies stand up to the very few sequels or remakes that actually outdid their inspirations. I would include in that limited category The Godfather II, 2010 A Space Odyssey, & both Aliens & Prometheus. The latest in the latter was very disappointing. Why keep manufacturing these androids when they're so inherently evil?

Saw the Mark Wahlburg remake of Planet of the Apes but haven’t seen any of the newer ones since. Always liked Woody - he’s actually from a town a little north of Cincy (Lebanon) and dated a girl I knew “back in the day” before Hollywood came calling. She thought he was a jerk, but I found him to be a typical “dude”. Loved his ganj even back then! GO DODGERS!!!

Kinda like the Westworld series on HBO. I have NO idea where they’re going with that one, but I still watch and love every episode. GO DODGERS!!!

I'm going to have to watch it a couple more time to catch all the nuances.

Edge of Darkness is on. GREAT movie. I was going to watch Battle of the Planet of the Apes the other night but was wondering if I needed to see the other two Apes movies between it and the Wahlburg one. Wasn’t sure if I’d know what was going on to get to this point or if it stands alone without having seen them. Thoughts? GO DODGERS!!!

Its been QUITE awhile since those originals, so I’ll probably check out the newer Dawn of and Rise of before viewing the latest one with the Woodman. GO DODGERS!!!

Battle for is an excellent movie. Woody Harrelson's character is masterful.
Blow is on right now. Was that on my original list?

VERY creepy and if clowns freak you out, this version of Pennywise will give you nightmares. Pure and sheer evil. GO DODGERS!!!
