Leadside could run, but not walk! And there was DR. YES, Pfister (the P is silent) who invented nitro whisperine! And Russell Bettyoyskin, who threatened to contaminate all the water in the USA. Mexico offered us all the water we needed. Max said, "tell them thanks anyway"! Mary Jack Armstrong was the strongest female counter spy in the world, and was the Cheif's old flame. We could go on for days remembering key moments!

Just watched “A Dog’s Purpose” tonight. Teared up four times in just over 90 minutes. Have a major soft spot for movies involving animals.

Yes sir, that is the one. Here locally in LA, Channel 5 would show those movies on weekends. As a kid, I grew up on movies like the Dirty Dozen, Midway, the Devils Brigade and a few others. did you see PT-109? The movie was good but of course, inaccurate. Kennedy was going to be brought up on charges but Daddy stepped in. PT-109 Jack Kennedy's old Boat - with Cliff Robertson as JFK in WWII -- Wow, I have seen that movie since I saw it at the old Bay movie Theater, here in the Pacific Palisades You know main thing about that movie was like a mini-auto bio war-pic, of our President at that time JFK which, If I remember correctly, he - Joe Kennedy use to work in movies, he also ran Moonshine in the good ole' "speak easy" days a real renaissance guy! Yep: DD, Midway, Devils Brigade all good movies - you may want to check out the are; "Longest Day" with the Duke John Wayne, and Sean Connery and Tora, Tora, Tora...and "They Were Expendable" World War II in the Pacific. Skipper John Brickley (Robert Montgomery) and Rusty Ryan (John Wayne), try to convince the Fleet Command the value of PT Boats and how they should be used in WW2.

After Prohibition he may have wound up the number one distributer of Dewars scotch & Gordon's gin in America. When Frank Costello got shot in New York, the police found numbers for the 'skim' at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Supposedly Joe was a secret part owner. He had an affair with Gloria Swanson & ripped her off. That part I actually kinda admire. An average looking guy porking one of Hollywood's biggest sex symbols & he stole from her too. Back then the real money for studios was in owning the theaters their movies played in. After Joe purchased RKO he made an offer to Alexander Pantages for his theater chain. Pantages turned him down. By all accounts Pantages was then framed on a statutory rape charge. Joe came back & offered half the amount for his theaters. The girl he used was later poisoned. He wanted to wrest control of Cuba away from Meyer Lansky. What else? Oh! He & Charles Stoneham (the guy who won the New York Giants in a card game) ran boilershops during the roaring twenties, ripping old & poor people off out of their life savings. FDR later made Kennedy first head of the SEC. When asked why he would do that, Roosevelt replied - "set a thief to catch a thief. " I've often wondered if Bobby Kennedy's obvious bias against the Italian Mafia was borne out of conversations around the dinner table in old Joe Kennedy's household. "F'n WOPS hijacked another load. DAMM them!" The Jewish & Italians mobs had decided to do away with their Irish competition because the Irish were already running politics & most police departments. Down goes Dean O'Banion, Vannie Higgins, Danny Walsh, Big Bill Dwyer got sent to prison, & I THINK Frank Costello may have worked out a deal with New York politicians to exile Owney Madden to Hot Springs, Arkansas. If he did, he probably saved his buddy's life. But Bobby's crusade went on. The McClellan Committee (where both Bobby & Jack made their names) was because Big Jim Elkins of Portland felt he was being squeezed out. Elkins stayed at Bobby Kennedy's house. Elkins was a bookie, loanshark, drug dealer, extortionist, & pimp. He got to eat at Bobby Kennedy's table. Bobby later formed the "Get Hoffa Squad." This after Joe had the audacity to approach the Chicago Outfit to help get his son elected. People talk about the tragedy of the Kennedy's. What tragedy? Joe (for the most part) outsmarted all his rivals & became untouchable. John jumped everything that moved, was wholly unqualified to be president, & got his head blown off in a blinding second. Bobby was a prick. He too got his head blown off, after doing Marilyn Monroe.

Very informative write up, blunashun History is funny, a lot has been revised, but it nothing like setting the record straight. I vaguely remember some of this but - Frank Nitti - who was looking to expand out of Chicago and who was Al Capone's right hand man, now successor - caught wind of Nick Circella, Willie "The Pimp" Bioff and George Browne who were working the movie theater district and local neighborhood in the "Windy City", to put it mildly. Nitti, thought he could clean up on Hollywood, an industry coming into it's own that was making a lot of money! So, Nitti armed with this new knowledge, of man powered "MASSIVE STRIKES" (walk outs), was ready to make deals on Hollywood with their studio heads from Dore Schary to Jack Warner and his first movie house was; RKO Studios's chief Leslie Thomson that owned Movie theaters, then Nicholas Schenck of Loew's Corp. eventually running the gambit up to Warner Brothers and Columbia capturing all eight studios. "That Toddlin Town" Chicago The record industry as well, in the 40's, 50's and 60's had similar set of circumstances from people like; Morris Levy, “Stan the Man” Watson, Angelo "The Chairman" Meli aka Poppa Mel etc... As you probably know Bobby Kennedy when he was starting out on the board of the "Labor Committee" dealing with "Mafia control" union's and before becoming Attorney General, RFK was more of like "J Edgar Hoover" - very hard boiled, ham and egger a real “political crime bare-knuckle tactician”, who always suspected that the mafia was behind his brother's shooting so, there was a lot of build up and possible resentment there, of not liking the Mafia on Bobby's part! Jack and Bobby also was not keen on civil rights and voted against President Ike's (Eisenhower) Civil Rights Bill of 1956-57. Meanwhile, Jack Kennedy need prodding from Jackie Robinson who, actually got into shouting match with Bobby Kennedy over the subject while campaigning, in order to get civil rights act "jump started" and to keep his campaign promise. However, after the shooting assassination of his brother JFK, Bobby went to Africa and saw oppression up close and personal, and after coming back home - he (Bobby) had become more of a humanist and much more empathetic a change person - and most likely, would have won the 1968 election had he not been for his assassination.

Starker said "I know Siegfried, we don't (does clapping motion), and Siegfreid replied, "well once in a while it doesn't hurt", and gestured for Starker and the other two KAOS agents there to clap.

I remember asking my dad what he thought of Kennedy. "He wasn't anything but a handsome man with a beautiful wife". Maybe so, he was before my time. The clips I've seen of him, he presents himself as a very likable man, but for those who didn't live in those days, we'll never know the feel of the times. It seems much of Kennedy's appeal was on a personal level, which is probably why so many young folks like him today, not knowing what all was really going on in those days..

We are all two sides of the same coin, but often we only hear one-side and that is with good reason however....Your Dad would be correct - JFK the first Catholic President was handsome, a great orator inspirational speeches, his reign although short lived, was like Camelot of King Arthur fame and wining the 1960 election was a miracle, a miracle that was greatly helped out when he debated Richard Nixon on TV as Kennedy came off better the Nixon who looked like he hadn't shaved in a few days and was going on the lamb. Kennedy , no matter what, was a great president, charming and will always be associated with ushering in a new era including; civil rights, averting a major crisis and putting man on the moon.

I think John Kennedys politics of the 60's are admired more today from Republicans than they are from the Democrats. You just opened the floodgates! JFK never blamed guns for murder and there was so much less gun control then than there is now, for starters. He didn't blame the GOP for crime, he blamed the criminals! Gee, imagine that! He wanted the nation to return to the gold standard, and some speculate that's why he was murdered, by the Federal Reserve, the greatest criminal organization in world history. So much more I could say!

So much more I could say! Nah. That was a professional job. Anyone can kill a president. It's getting away with it that proves it was a professional job. What was Allen Dulles doing on the Warren Commission? Hadn't JFK fired him over the Bay of Pigs fiasco? Then Jack threatened to break the CIA up into a thousand tiny pieces. You don't threaten guys like that & not follow through. Diem was assassinated about three weeks prior to JFK getting his head blown off. When informed, Kennedy supposedly turned white as a sheet. So they did this without his okay? He must have known then he wasn't in control. At first the Dallas PD said the gun used by Oswald was a Mauser. Good sniping rifle. Then the FBI tracked where Oswald had ordered (by mail, mind you) a crappy WWII circa Italian rifle. We never heard about the Mauser again. Jack sandbagged Nixon in the 1960 presidential election. Dulles was obligated to tell Kennedy about their plans in Cuba, just in case he won. Nixon was probably the most active vice president in our history. He was the CIA's liaison to the White House. He was hip deep in their plans. Once Kennedy found out what was happening, he used the strong anti-communist / anti-fascist card to his advantage, knowing Nixon couldn't reveal his hand. Nixon came off as soft on communism. Kennedy later brought us to the brink of a nuclear holocaust because he got cold feet in Cuba. Lucky for us Nikita Khrushchev was a blustery windbag.

"The record industry as well, in the 40's, 50's and 60's had similar set of circumstances from people like; Morris Levy, “Stan the Man” Watson, Angelo "The Chairman" Meli aka Poppa Mel etc..."
Didn't Jules Stein have a big hand in the music industry? People remember him for his eye institute. He was mobbed up too though. The Chicago Outfit.
Johnny Roselli was point man for Nitti in Hollywood. Bioff could never get 'made' because of his ethnicity. Not sure he would have anyway. He turned rat.
I grew up on Dragnet & actually bought that Los Angeles was relatively clean as opposed to big eastern cities. Not even close. In the early days, crime was run out of City Hall, with the police acting as bag men. Then there was some guy named Crawford during the 20's. City Hall might have used him as a front. The Chicago boys came in after that. Lucky Luciano realized he was too slow to realize the potential. So he sent Bugsy Siegel out here to grab part of LA before it was too late. Siegel opened up Vegas & gave Jack Dragna orders. Course he got shot for stealing. Mickey Cohen inherited his rackets. The Dragna's tried real hard to kill Mickey. So obviously Mickey didn't have the same sway with New York that Siegel had.
It's fascinating reading about the goings on & how most people didn't have a clue. The Chicago Outfit was always much more open to working with other ethnicities. Al Capone himself wasn't a Sicilian. Luciano was a visionary who would have worked more closely with other people, but Tom Dewey put him away & then he was later deported. He had already worked with Lansky, Siegel & Buchalter. They had Dutch Schultz killed because he was a madman.
