Brandon Morrow has found his way to the DL. Injured his back while taking off his pants. Now that’s a new one!

Pitcher Edwin Jackson has joined the A’s. He’s nearly halfway through MLB as this will now be his 13th different team. I think I remember some scuttlebut from the other board about him being “one of the future elites”. Funny!

The Dodgers and Andre Ethier make it official on August 3rd with a pregame retirement ceremony in his honour. AE played his entire 12 year career as a Dodger, although the better part of his last several years were as a spectator via IR.
Somewhere on Long Island, a geeky, big eared, pear shaped manchild weeps into his pillow. “If ONLY they could have done it on August 1st, $1 Dodger Dog night, I’d have MADE mom and pops fly me out to LA”, he silently muses.

Who's actually having a decent season is Frankie Montas. Can't think of anyone I would drop from the Dodgers' current rotation to make room for him though.

Dee Gordon is down to a .278 batting average & .300 OB%. The Mariners have him batting eighth now.

Yu Darvish threw all of one inning today in his first rehab assignment. Doubt the dude pitches in the majors again this year. How much did the Cubs drop on this guy? And how many former posters here were begging LA to resign him? Baby bears would have been much better off re-signing Arietta.

We should have blown apart our total team payroll because we're Los Angeles, dammit. Are we supposed to be the Yankees? Scrimping & saving? These guys disgust me.

Bud Norris, who looked like Mariano Rivera against us a week or so back just got lit up by the lowly Redlegs in the top of the tenth in St. Louis. Back to back HR’s by Suarez (with a man on) and Dixon.
Gotta feel for Suarez - true MVP candidate if he’s on just about any other team besides Cincy.

Dee Gordon's batting average has fallen a few more points to .270. Because his OB% is directly the result of his batting average (two walks in his last 57 games), it too has fallen to .290. He's batting 9th & Dee is playing all over the field as a super utilityman while Robinson Cano reclaims second base. They're even platooning him.
September 12, 2018 2:42 pm Mariners' Dee Gordon: Out of lineup Wednesday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Gordon is not in the starting lineup versus San Diego on Wednesday, TJ Cotterill of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Gordon will head to the bench with left-hander Joey Lucchesi on the hill for the Padres. Robinson Cano will man second base while Guillermo Heredia draws a nod in the outfield.

September 9, 2018 1:48 pm Mariners' Dee Gordon: Sits versus lefty Sunday by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Gordon is not in the lineup Sunday against the Yankees, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Gordon will retreat to the bench to avoid a lefty-on-lefty matchup with New York starter CC Sabathia. Robinson Cano will slide over to second base to replace him, allowing Ryon Healy to make a start at first base.

September 6, 2018 6:05 pm Mariners' Dee Gordon: Pair of hits out of bottom of order by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Gordon went 2-for-4 with a double in a win over the Orioles in Wednesday.
Gordon had opened September with an 0-for-10 tally over his first three games, a modest slump he snapped out of Wednesday with his third multi-hit effort over the last six contests. The veteran's on-base percentage (.293) leaves plenty to be desired and is largely responsible for his banishment to the bottom of the order, but his 24 extra-base hits (17 doubles, five triples, two home runs) and 30 stolen bases certainly afford him a degree of fantasy utility.

September 1, 2018 5:47 pm Mariners' Dee Gordon: Not in Saturday's lineup by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Gordon is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Athletics.
Gordon heads to the bench for the second time in the last four games despite having a modest seven-game hit streak, in which he is 9-for-27. Robinson Cano grabs the start at second base with Ryon Healy at first base Saturday.

August 31, 2018 2:35 pm Mariners' Dee Gordon: Productive from bottom of order by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Gordon went 2-for-4 with an RBI infield single in a win over the Athletics on Thursday.
The veteran drew the start at shortstop with Jean Segura (shin) a late scratch. Gordon manged to hit safely for the seventh time in the last eight games, but he still sports just a .205 average (17-for-83) in August largely due to a 3-for-31 tally over his first eight games of the month.

Dee wound up batting .268 with a .288 OB%. 30 steals & a league leading 12 times caught stealing. An astounding 9 walks in 588 plate appearances. A 79 OPS+.
A.J. Ellis posted a very respectable .272-1-15 / .378 / .344 line with an OPS+ of 103. In a part-time role, of course.
Adrian Gonzalez hit .237-6-26 / .299 / .373 with an OPS+ of 89 before getting released by the Mets.
Hanley Ramirez was batting .254-6-29 / .313 / .395 with an OPS+ of 90 before getting released by the Red Sox.
Howie Kendrick hit .303-4-12 / .331 / .474 with an OPS+ of 110 in 160 plate appearances, mostly as a second baseman. He must have gotten hurt because his last game was in May. Yeah. The Nationals put him on the 60 day DL.
Trayce Thompson hit .116-3-9 / .163 / .215 / .378 with an OPS+ of 4. FOUR! Then he hit .213-4-15 / .278 / .363 in the minors.
Charlie Culberson hit .270-12-45 / .326 / .466 with an OPS+ of 112 in 113 games. Way to go Charlie.
Brandon McCarthy was 6-3 w/ a 4.92 ERA & a 1.46 WHIP in 15 starts for the Braves. Right knee tendinitis landed him on the 60 day DL & he didn't pitch for the Braves again after June 24th.

Looks like Matt Kemp has surfaced in Milwaukee as Chacin K’s Story with two on in the top of the first on a pitch so low and outside he couldn’t have hit it with a rowboat oar.

Rangers sign Forsythe to minor-league deal
It was in October of 2017 that Logan Forsythe was a starter on a World Series team. Roughly a year and a half later, he's signed a minor-league deal with the Rangers. Forsythe was terrible for the Dodgers last season and they shipped him to Minnesota in the Brian Dozier trade.
With the Twins, Forsythe hit .258/.356/.292 (80 OPS+). He's just completely lost his power. He hit 20 homers with a .444 slugging in Tampa Bay in 2016 but managed two homers and a pitiful .291 slugging last season. He's 31 years old, so a bounce back is possible.
The Rangers are set with starters at second (Rougned Odor) and third base (Asdrubal Cabrera). It's possible that Forsythe ends up as a backup infielder with a good spring, though.
