I KINDA think Willie Mays, Hank Aaron & Mickey Mantle could have adjusted to 100 mph fastballs. We saw that tonight. One guy was pitching a masterpiece by throwing junk. Another guy comes in throwing smoke. He promptly gives up a homer & the shutout. I don't THINK that was Willie Mays.

Our old buddy Matt Kemp was on the MLB channel yesterday and today. He sounded off against the pitch clock as we all have, and so many players today. But Manjerk wants to "speed up the game", so he imposes that rule and also instant replay which really delays the game. Kemp also doesn't approve of closers trying to K every batter. In his day, pitchers just tried to make batters hit grounders. IT was great hearing his commentary. If the injury bug hadn't bitten him after his career '11 season when he very nearly won the triple crown, he'd be one of the greatest Dodgers ever. I still have his jersey, which I bought at the stadium for about $24 I think. No doubt GM's & players think today's game is harder because of the pitches thrown. It probably is, looking from that very narrow standpoint. But then hitting philosophy has changed. When they were playing shifts, you had guys like Max Muncy flat out refusing to take what the defense gave him. That would get you benched in the old days. You're not Ted Williams. Two strikes & you choked up a little. You didn't swing the same 0-2 that you might 2-0. That's a major reason there were fewer strikeouts. No. For every reason they may cite as to why the game is tougher now, two can be cited as reasons why it isn't. The game is more scientific for sure. Just a decade ago, who heard of spin rate? And hard hit %, launch angle? Those and more add intrigue to the game, but just like that stupid pitch clock, it seems to be adding to the injuries.

"Launch angle" is just a pretty way of saying 'uppercut.' Which also leads to more strikeouts. There's a reason guys like Gerrit Cole get 300 strikeouts in 200 innings. It isn't all spin rate & velocity. It's a screwed-up philosophy.

The game was WAY more interesting before the advent of analytics and 10,000 new and different stats that really don’t mean jack shit when it comes down to it. Speeding up games doesn’t make them better. If people / fans can sit for a three plus hour NFL game, why can’t they do the same for a MLB game? And if they can’t, then maybe they need to find another sport. There’s simply no strategy anymore. Hit it as far as you can every time you step into the box. Throw it as hard as you can until your arm falls off. That’s pretty much baseball in a nutshell. It’s a shame that the game we grew up playing and loving has been mutilated into something only the short attention span crowd can enjoy. FIRE DAVE ROBERTS!!!

Manfred had to turn bases into something Mike Lindell would be proud of, & allow oven mitts & only a couple throws over to a base, to bring SB's back. But at least we get to see running again. Then he had to disallow shifts so the Max Muncys of the world could stay true to their game. Pigheadedness.

Ryan Pepiot makes his comeback today. I never expect much from pitchers in their first start back. Take it easy. Watch their pitch count. I dropped JD Martinez in one league to free up space though. Not that JD has been tearing up. Watch him hit a couple homers today though.

Pepiot has made it through 5.0. Trailing 2-0. Both runs were unearned. 5 strikeouts. No walks. 6 hits allowed. 72 pitches. That's probably it for him today.

He got the first out & then walked Jacques Pederson. I bet that's it.

Saw a post on Twitter / X about wife / girlfriend beater Julio Urias stating there was video of him throwing her up against a fence and then punching her.
Don’t know if it’s factual, but damn - what a POS if true.
And even worse, what a TITANIC waste of talent and an eight figure annual salary he was going to get over multiple years.
Maybe Bauer can get him a job with one of his Mexican league teams.
FIRE DAISY ROBERTS!!!

He's still only 28 I think and he led the bigs in both ERA and wins different years and though he wasn't having a great year last year when this shit all started, he could bounce back, but he let the team and fans down with this. He had plenty of productive years left in that left arm
