May not be able to get full information of the specs of the deal because of the All-Star break but once again can confirm, #Dodgers and #Orioles have tentative deal in place for Machado

Manny Machado trade nears finish line with Dodgers in lead By Ethan Sears July 17, 2018 | 1:18pm The Dodgers appear to have won the Manny Machado sweepstakes. Though exactly how iron-clad their victory is seems unclear. If nothing else, it seems to be at the finish line. ESPN reports the Orioles have a deal is in place, though specific aspects are still being worked on, while USA Today says a deal with Los Angeles is essentially done. MLB Network reported the Dodgers’ fourth-best prospect, outfielder Yusniel Diaz, is in the Dodgers’ offer. Tuesday’s All-Star Game is likely Machado’s last appearance in a Baltimore uniform. The holdup for a deal may be that MLB prefers the attention focused on the All-Star Game. The Brewers and Phillies both seemed to be in the running this morning, but evidently didn’t offer as much as the Dodgers. The Yankees were also suitors at one point, but The Post’s Joel Sherman reported they weren’t willing to include high-end prospects such as Clint Frazier or Justus Sheffield in a deal, essentially removing them from the bidding. A friend just called me & said he heard a radio report that it's a done deal. Diaz is projected as a DH, no?

The Dodgers don't need Manny, what are they gonna do re-sign him & play Seager or Turner elsewhere?
And if Britton is not part of the deal to strengthen a poor bullpen, it makes no sense!

Let's enjoy this. The Dodgers might acquire an All- Star and top 5 player in the majors. Next year if they should resign him then put Seager at 2nd or move Turner. The O's want to get two separate deals for Machado and Britton to maximize the return. With two weeks left until the deadline expect the team to acquire an arm.

We need to unload a little salary this year and then take some back next year. Hope they can make that happen.
Pocket protectors can be creative sometimes.

"Michael Duarte of NBC Sports L.A. tweets that right-handed pitching prospect Dustin May, long reported to be a target of the O’s, is expected to change hands in the deal. Double-A infielder/outfielder Errol Robinson is also believed to be included, per Duarte." but Heyman is saying May was rejected by the Dodgers.
I'm guessing that Keibert Ruiz is included in the trade because he was put on the inactive list the same day that Diaz was put on the list.

11:22pm: Heyman tweets that the players in the deal are agreed upon, though there could yet be some medical reviews to be finalized. Notably, he suggests that there are “believed to be” five minor leaguers going to the Orioles, though obviously the quality of those five will vary. It’s still unclear who, outside of Diaz, is going to the Orioles in the deal, but Heyman adds that there’s no cash changing hands in the trade. That won’t yet put Los Angeles over the luxury tax line, however. Machado is owed about $6.45MM through season’s end, and the Dodgers were about $15MM south of the luxury tax line prior to this agreement.

That would leave plenty of cash to add bullpen help.

Getting pretty excited. I mean you plug that guy into the lineup and you have a terrific bat that would be pretty much leading all NL categories. Now about that reliever and starter....

I think Ruiz was injured in the all star game, so it may be unrelated. Ruiz was placed on the inactive list a day before the foul tip injury at the Futures Game, which was the same day that Diaz was placed on the list. Even so, I don't think players are typically placed on the inactive list for an injury. I saw an earlier report by Morosi that Orioles asked for May and Ruiz but the Dodgers declined to include either players. I wonder if the Dodgers are in line to acquire Machado now because they've decided to include one of those players sought after by the Orioles, in addition to Diaz. It could very well be coincidence that Ruiz and Diaz were placed on the inactive list on the same day but I just wouldn't be surprised if he was included in the deal with Will Smith emerging at Double-A.
