Ken Gurnick Verified account @kengurnick 13h Matt Kemp, who nobody wanted, is hitting .357. Like said before, MK has found the "Fountain of Youth" and with a re-adjusted attitude and nearly 50 lbs meaner and leaner. On track for the comeback!

I don't think anyone expects him to hit .300 this year but he has certainly been the one bright spot in an injury filled dismal start. glad we held onto him. I agree. Worst case scenario is the team trades him and is able to remove his money and obtain something of value. Best case scenario the team starts to play well and he is a productive contributor in helping us win. Do you see anything else I might have missed?

Towards the end of his career he will not get a better opportunity than to play for a contender like the Dodgers. He, so far, has taken advantage of the opportunity.

Maybe his around the league trip in eighty days has given him a new perspective. First he was part of a salary dump. Then he was part of another salary dump. He comes back to LA as part of a salary dump. That has to be humbling.

Worst case scenario is that he gets hurt. Haha, yeah, that would be the worst case.

Like said before, MK has found the "Fountain of Youth" and with a re-adjusted attitude and nearly 50 lbs meaner and leaner. On track for the comeback! There is only one person who saw this coming, and that's Matt Kemp. None of us; not the team; not the analysts. No one outside of Kemp himself knew this would happen. We could have hoped, but based on past performance and history there was no way to objectively see this kind of resurgence. It is Kemp who has to keep himself in playing shape. It is Kemp who has to keep his head in the right frame. It is Kemp who has to keep his focus. Hopefully he keeps it going. I will caution though that he is riding a current .425 BABIP. That's a number that is absolutely unsustainable. There are only four single season BABIP averages over .400 in the history of the game. Also, through May of last season Kemp hit .345 with a .381/.608/.989 slash line, 15 doubles and 10 home runs. Then he crashed to earth over the last four months. Let's see a sustained run through the majority of the season. Then I'll be really impressed.

Worst case scenario is that he gets hurt. Matty Kemp(s)initial fall from grace was when ran into that wall in Colorado he just wasn't the same after that and might have been hurt more than he let on or maybe even realized at the time. Not to mention he was having a pretty good season. Cross fingers: that MK stays healthy, Dodgers most certainly can use him or anyone hitting .300 plus for that matter.

Wouldn't worst case be that he either goes imto a massive slump and becomes unproductive like the 2nd half last year? Or that he suffers an injury? "worst case" cannot be a positive. I can think of a lot of things worse than him being traded and bringing back value...Smh....

Yes it's not sustainable. And with Matt it's not if he gets hurt, it's when.
I like the guy, but, trade him asap while his value is high.

Not only is he the NL's top hitter, he's #2 overall... And looks who's #3! It's our old friend, Dee Gordon!

I did Me, too. Although most, if not all of my arguments for Kemp came on the former MLB board. I remember multiple convos with Francis about Kemp. As usual, he was advocating the return of Ethier and even when Kemp had a bit of a slump in S.T. (which Francis gloated endlessly about), I had Matty’s back and advised that he “wasn’t going anywhere”. It’s still VERY early, but if he can stay healthy and continue to be productive, he’ll likely be a top candidate for Comeback Player of the Year. GO DODGERS!!!
