At my age, I do know something about aging. In Kershaw's case, I don't attribute his current problems with aging. Something more serious than incremental aging is going on, and I hope Honeycutt can fix it, SOON! A very “un-Kersh” like start, to say the least. But he has pitched very well thus far (although his record shows otherwise). EVERY pitcher has a “stinker” or two or three throughout his 30 + starts every season. This was Kersh’s first in 2018, but I guarantee it won’t be his last this season or in his career. He is clearly one of the best in our lifetime, but he is not a machine who can go out there and be close to perfect every time he takes the mound. Kersh & the Dodgers will be just fine. GO DODGERS!!! I was disappointed by Kersh's previous outing against the Nats; but they are a very good team. Against the Fish, he looked really bad. 6 walks & 5 hits in 5 innings... the walks being most worrisome number, and tied for his career worst (in only 5 innings). None of the walks were intentional. That's a 2.20 WHIP for those five innings. After the loss to Washington, followed by the terrible game against the Fish... I am worried about Clayton's health.

Hmm...I just hope Clayton isn't in any pain and, he is compensating in some, even in a tiny way, that could be effecting his mechanics! As far as aging is concerned, I think the Rolling Stones summed it up quite nicely when they said: "What drag.. it is, getting old" Indo, is that Hop-a-long Cassidy? One of them is! If anyone could identify William Boyd, I figured you could. Hoppy was my radio hero years before I ever saw him on TV. I was happy to learn, many years later, that William was a smart business man, and retired very comfortably. Not like Gene Autry comfortable, but still, Boyd had parlayed his entertainment money into a very comfortable lifestyle. Frankly, I had forgotten the horse's name, and had to look it up. "Topper". A pair of Hopalong cap pistols, Hoppy holsters, & a Hoppy hat are the first Christmas present I can remember getting... probably in 1950. I had two early radio heroes, Hoppy & then Duke. The next one was named Clayton. Clayton Moore... AKA The Lone Ranger!

Looking at those pitch charts, I see what the problem was. He had his eyes closed.

It has been soooo long since I've heard and seen that show, I use to listen to it on the radio, along with "Sky King" and most important the "Adventures of Superman" my favorite, Dimension x Science Fiction and The Lone Ranger Hiho Silver...away..in cloud of dust. I had that gun set as I always like the two gun approach, ah yes...Clayton Moore, and John Hart for a brief while Jay Silverheels. There is a lot of those days I miss and I was big into westerns; the Duke, Audie Murphy, Randolf Scott, Jimmy Stewart...

Looking at those pitch charts, I see what the problem was. He had his eyes closed. According to the velocity meter, his fastball is 2 miles fast than his slider.

Amazon Prime has some of the Hopalong Cassidy stuff in pretty good shape, and a lot of other historical stuff re-mastered. I couldn't believe how good of a job they did with Andy Griffith. That re-mastered black & white looked great. As for the old radio shows, I have downloaded a bunch, and also purchased CD sets (which I compile onto DVDs). I put them on the car's DVD player to play on road trips. Fibber McGee & Molly are among my favorites, and even my progeny can still enjoy the comedy while we're out in the car. I haven't gotten Alexa to play that OTR (Old Time Radio) stuff yet, but I'm hoping. I always thought that radio theater was better than TV or movies. It's much more engrossing, like a book, where you employ your mind to visualize the action & scenery.

Far more than speculation, Speed. Experience, which some call "wisdom", which is one of the side effects of decades of being right & wrong; a lot! On the other hand, isn't "speculation" what these boards are all about?

Whatever the reason ageing or injury Kershaw's performance is concerning as I said earlier this season. So far he doesn't look like the best regular season pitcher in the game with the reduced velocity. Without the velocity he needs even better control and not less control as he had against the fish. The front office brought in a couple good under the radar bullpen pieces as they are very good at doing. Think they may want to consider going after an ace prior to the trade deadline if the goal is truly to end the drought this season.

I’m just pointing out that you aren’t basing this on any actual evidence, it’s just a hunch. You just saw Kershaw (a guy that is aging and has started slow multiple times before) have a bad start and are assuming, for whatever reason, there is something wrong with him.

What a surprise.

Speed; I don't know who Jeremy is, or you, or 88 is; but what I have seen here, just as it was on the "official" board, there is an embedded clique of very pugnacious posters attacking/bullying posters whose opinions don't align exactly with the majority view. Actual discussion is not allowed? That's not a healthy arena for realistic and honest discussion. A Palestinian opinion in Israel - NOT ALLOWED. Same thing in reverse - NOT ALLOWED. A conservative (or Christian) opinion in Berkeley - NOT ALLOWED! In this case, the opposite is allowed. Is this board becoming the Palestinian version of a Dodger board, where opinions differing from the dogma are not allowed?

And disagreeing with Indo about Kershaw is NOT ALLOWED apparently; if you do, you’re a bully.
