Dodgers' Miguel Vargas: Set to return to minors Rotowire 1 HR AGO The Dodgers are expected to option Vargas to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
He'll be giving up his spot on the active roster to Cavan Biggio, who was acquired via trade with the Blue Jays earlier Wednesday. Vargas had been up with the big club for nearly a month but didn't play much, starting just six of 22 games. He'll receive regular reps at Oklahoma City.
Dodgers' Teoscar Hernandez: Goes deep again Tuesday Rotowire 2 HRS AGO Hernandez went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in Tuesday's 15-2 win over the Rangers.
Hernandez's lone hit of the night was a big blast in the sixth, an inning during which the Dodgers scored seven runs on four homers. He now has five long balls and 12 RBI over his last five games and has totaled 10 hits over that span, raising his slash line to .266/336/.525 with 17 homers, 50 RBI, 40 runs scored and a 24:81 BB:K in 286 plate appearances.
Dodgers' Jason Heyward: Goes deep in blowout win Rotowire 2 HRS AGO Heyward went 1-fo-r3 with a two-run homer, a walk and two runs scored in Tuesday's 15-2 win over the Rangers. He also reached via a hit by pitch.
Heyward capped off a four-homer sixth inning by the Dodgers with a two-run blast off Grant Anderson. It was his third homer of the year and his second game with multiple RBI. The 34-year-old remains in a platoon against right-handed pitching, and is now slashing .234/.315/.469 with eight extra-base hits, eight RBI, 12 runs and a 6:11 BB:K in 73 plate appearances.
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Homers as part of three hit night Rotowire 2 HRS AGO Freeman went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and three runs scored in Tuesday's 15-2 win over the Rangers.
Freeman's big hit of the night came in the sixth when he went back-to-back with Shohei Ohtani as part of a four-homer inning for the Dodgers. Freeman now has multiple hits in four of nine games this month to go along with three home runs after he totaled just six homers through the end of May. His .401 on-base percentage currently ranks fifth in all of baseball, as he's slashing .297/.401/.498 with 30 extra-base hits, 41 RBI, 43 runs and a 39:49 BB:K in 299 plate appearances.
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Homers and steals bag in win Rotowire 2 HRS AGO Ohtani went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer, two walks, a steal and three runs scored in Tuesday's 15-2 win over the Rangers. He was also reached via a hit by pitch.
Ohtani kickstarted a four-homer sixth inning by the Dodgers with a two-run blast off Grant Anderson. He also tallied his 15th steal of the year, becoming the first player in baseball this season to tally 15 home runs and 15 steals. Ohtani continues to be one of the most dangerous hitters in baseball and is now slashing .312/.384/.581 with 16 homers, 43 RBI, 50 runs and a 30:62 BB:K in 294 plate appearances.
Dodgers' Will Smith: Homers in blowout win Rotowire 2 HRS AGO Smith went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer, a walk and two runs scored in Tuesday's 15-2 win over the Rangers.
Smith got off to a quick start by taking Dane Dunning deep in the first inning to put the Dodgers up 3-0. He'd wind up reaching base three more times before all was said and done and racked up his seventh game of at least three hits this year. Smith has eight hits and six RBI in seven games so far this month. He's now slashing .296/.364/.509 with 10 homers, 42 RBI, 35 runs and a 23:38 BB:K in 247 plate appearances and is trending towards a second-career All-Star appearance this summer.
Dodgers' James Paxton: Cruises to win over Rangers Rotowire 2 HRS AGO Paxton (6-1) got the win over the Rangers on Tuesday, allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out two over six innings.
Paxton's lone run against him came in the second inning on a sacrifice fly. He cruised the rest of the way from there, allowing just two more baserunners and did not allow another runner to get into scoring position. Tuesday was Paxton's first quality start since May 17 and his first win since May 11. His two hits allowed also tied his season low. The strikeout numbers have not been there for Paxton this season. He's topped four strikeouts just once this year and that came all the way back in his first start of the year. Still, he's been able to limit significant damage against him for the majority of the year and owns a 3.92 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 35:32 K:BB in 59.2 innings. The 35-year-old southpaw lines up to complete a two-start week against the Royals on Sunday.
Dodgers' Cavan Biggio: Traded to Dodgers Rotowire 4 HRS AGO The Dodgers acquired Biggio from the Blue Jays on Wednesday in exchange for right-hander Braydon Fisher, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Biggio had been designated for assignment after slashing just .200/.323/.291 through 130 plate appearances this season. The 29-year-old will provide defensive versatility for the Dodgers, having played every position in the pro ranks other than pitcher and catcher. Biggio is making $4.21 million this season and has one year of arbitration eligibility remaining.

I confess I havent' kept tabs on him, but that his father was a great player, but a .614 OPS? And, as much as we worried about Teoscar's Ks, Biggio's are even worse: 42 Ks in 110 ABs and only 14 BBs. And Miguel Vargas was sent back down! And what's his OPS? .854, with a .550 SA, though I admit, it's a small sample size, but damn it, he's paid his dues! Biggio better start paying dividends and pretty quick!

It WOULD be Corey Seager. He comes off IL just in time to torment the Dodgers.

Ferris was rolling along. Gave up a base hit with one out in the fifth. New acquisition Biggio muffs a fairly routine grounder to third.
Seager goes to a full count before launching one into the CF bleachers.
Rangers up 3 - 1; Teoscar returning to earth leaving runners on second and third twice with bad swinging K’s.
GO DODGERS!!!

Home plate was blocked. They don't seem to be enforcing that rule since Buster Posey retired.
Pahes runs the Dodgers out of the game.
Rangers win.

Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Belts another long ball Rotowire 1 HR AGO Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to Texas.
Ohtani gave the Dodgers an early lead with a 424-foot solo shot in the first inning, but Los Angeles managed only one run the rest of the game. The homer was the second in as many days for the slugger, and he's up to 17 on the campaign, tied for sixth-most in the majors. Ohtani has added 44 RBI, 51 runs, 15 stolen bases and a .311/.383/.587 slash line through 298 plate appearances.
Dodgers' Michael Grove: Opening Thursday's contest Rotowire 6 HRS AGO Manager Dave Roberts said Grove will serve as the Dodgers' opening pitcher for Thursday's game against the Rangers, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Grove made 18 starts with the Dodgers between the 2022 and 2023 seasons, but he's worked almost exclusively as a reliever in 2024. During his lone other start this season back on April 28 against the Blue Jays, Grove covered just two innings and gave up three earned runs before turning the game over to the bullpen. He'll be working Thursday on just one day of rest and is unlikely to cover more than 1-to-3 innings before he exits the contest.

Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Out of lineup versus righty Rotowire 13 MINS AGO Hernandez isn't in the Dodgers' lineup versus the Rangers on Thursday.
Hernandez is on the bench again with righty Michael Lorenzen on the mound for the Rangers. Recently acquired Cavan Biggio has the start at third and is batting eighth Thursday. Hernandez, who was serving as the primary third baseman in Max Muncy's absence will now seem to just fill that role against lefties while Biggio will start against righties. For the season, Hernandez has a .724 OPS against lefties, but a .493 OPS against righties.
Dodgers' Will Smith: Idle Thursday Rotowire 24 MINS AGO Smith isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Thursday versus the Rangers.
Smith will get some scheduled rest after starting in five consecutive games. In that span, the catcher went 5-for-19 with a homer in series versus the Yankees and Rangers. With the 29-year-old on the bench Thursday, Austin Barnes will start behind the dish and bat ninth.
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Pitching final sim game Rotowire 33 MINS AGO Kershaw (shoulder) will throw a three-inning simulated game Thursday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Kershaw most recently tossed a two-inning simulated game with the Dodgers' Single-A affiliate in Rancho Cucamonga on June 7, with reports suggesting that his fastball touched 90 miles per hour in the outing. He'll increase his workload in Thursday's simulated game, which will be his last before he begins what will likely be a multi-start minor-league rehab assignment, according to Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register.

Wow Page Boy has been a hot hitter and has earned the #5 spot in the lineup. Why does Barnes have to catch tonite? Because he pairs so well with Biggio? I stopped trying to understand Dave & his puppeteer. Biggio is supposed to be a defensive whiz at EVERY position. His error last night on an easy grounder that took a lazy hop right over his glove cost LA an out (possibly two if he fields & throws quickly) brought up Seager and his three run blast. Great pickup there. And Barnes has to play twice a week now. Must have been that fearsome .100 BA last year that propelled him into one game per series backstop. GO DODGERS!!!

I watched 5 innings of the OKC game tonite. It looks like it won't be Miller time for a little while longer. He looked great for the first 3 innings, but then, he seems to uravel. He was missing the zone, often by a lot, and was wild within the zone. Location problems, I guess. Anyhow, he was pulled after 4.2 innings, and allowed 5 ER.
The Out Man, on the other hand, could've gone 3 for 3, but he settled for a 2 run homer and lost singles on great defensive plays. I think he wants back on the varsity. It cant be too much longer, but after the all star break seems most likely.

How bad is Teos arm that Smith can go from first to third right in front of a single to him in left? Scarborough Fair now in for four or five innings. I really LOATHE these “starter / bullpen” games. Milller time cannot come soon enough. GO DODGERS!!!
