Wow - MAJOR issues with the site! Haven’t been able to access since my last post two hours ago and wasn’t even sure it had made it. Daisy once again pushed the right buttons. Four more W’s to another title and I don’t want to hear shit one from any other teams fans about Mickey Mouse. If LA pulls this off, they should and will be remembered as a billion dollar team with NO pitching that STILL found a way to win eleven games in October against the leagues best. But I still won’t ever be on the Daisy / Fraudy bandwagon. I don’t like those guys and their meddlesome managing based on daily reports spit out by programs that rely solely on numbers & stat tendencies. FIRE DAISY & FRAUDY!!!

A miracle has happened! I was at a family dinner so I didn't see the first 4 innings, but I did see the rest! This was one time a bullpen game worked. I saw that Sean Manaea was pitching and I groaned, remembering how he dominated Dodger bats back in game 2. I think much of the pennant was won from the neck up; Dodgers and we fans are sick and tired of the first round elimination, most notably in '22 with 111 wins. So far, they've overcome the thinned rotation.
But the Yanks will be a major challange. The Judge has been the Reggie Jackson for us in this generation, but he hasn't had a good post season, unlike Reggie. The world series could be a whole 'nother animal. Players either can play in it or they can't, and you just never know who. Kersh just hasn't been able to hack the post season, save for a few great moments, whereas Walkman and Mad Max have done pretty well. Jackson's regular season stats didn't jump off the page, but he was a very tough out in the WS.
The '74 Dodgers had a much better regular season record than the A's but lost in 5 games. And BTW, as a side note, I was playing a football game at the time and I could hear the PA announcer update us all on the game, for those who didn't bring transister radios. The latest I recall was the Dodgers tied the game 2-2 as we got into the defensive huddle. I didn't find out Dodgers lost till the next morning while Dad was reading the sports section. Memories!
Allright, JR and Blue, get the pizza, wings and dogs ready for Friday nite, and NO PASTRIES ALLOWED.

Here's a crazy thing I did but would never do again: Way back in July 19th 1996, a Friday, I got off work at 3PM, then headed northbound on I-5 for SF. I had the SUV all packed for a single game on Saturday at the 'stick. My journey was going great, and I heard the Dodgers lose to the Gnats 5-4 on the radio. I was about a half hour from Freemont, where my motel was, when I was smelling a strange odor. I pulled into a gas station and discovered a brake fluid leak. I got into my motel and wasted no time next morning getting my USED SUV to a garage, and they fixed it for me, after explaining my circumstances. After he finished the repair I headed to the 'stick in the top of the 3rd inning just in time to see Pizzaman hit a 2 run double. Pedro Astacio was the starting pitcher and he had a quality start, but the bullpen blew the game, namely Todd Worrell. Well, then it was back on the road south homeward bound. I think I got home around midnite and of course slept in the next day, but that was a real crazy thing to do! ONE day there after driving close to 500 miles, then back home and then back to work Monday, and a costly car repair!

I think I got home around midnite and of course slept in the next day, but that was a real crazy thing to do! ONE day there after driving close to 500 miles, then back home and then back to work Monday, and a costly car repair! My crazy Dodger moment came back in 2018 for the NL Division playoffs. The day started out as a HUGE fiasco as I first had to go down to my moms house that morning and meet with a contractor who was bidding on waterproofing her basement. I had been having billing issues with Sprint for MONTHS and had decided to move our phones to T-Mobile. They offered a 55 and older plan for $30 / line which I had gone to one of their stores and signed up for the previous month. At the time, I was 55 & my wife was 51, but as the primary on the account, I was permitted up to four separate lines at this rate. So, when I opened my bill that morning before heading to moms, I was furious to see that it was nearly double the $60 for two lines. Turns out T-Mobile, in all their wisdom had put my WIFES phone & number in the plan, but had mine in their highest charged plan for a single line. So I’m immediately on the phone with them driving down to moms and got SO into with their rep that they actually turned both of our lines OFF. Neither of us could make or receive calls - it was a mess. I drove straight to that same store after leaving moms and demanded they restore our service, which after around an hour they finally did. It took me close to another two months to FINALLY get that straightened out. On top of that, Sprint was trying to bill me for an ENTIRE month even though I cancelled their service just a SINGLE day into the next billing period. That also took a dozen plus phone calls with them trying to “negotiate” me into paying HALF the bill - nope. Pro-rate it to the SINGLE day or we go to war. I eventually ended up going to one of their stores as they were threatening collections agencies and damage to my credit rating. After trying to override their system for well over an hour to get my final bill to “zero”, one of the techs there gave me the phone number & email address for their regional VP & manager in my area, advising “you didn’t get this from me”. A couple of calls and emails later, my bill was finally zeroed out. We had planned on leaving for Milwaukee by noonish, but with all of the garbage that morning didn’t hit the road until an hour or so later. To top the day off, there was a big construction project on I-74 towards Indianapolis which cost us another hour plus and we hit Chicago at rush hour on a Friday. My GPS kept giving me bad advise and we literally sat in traffic not moving an inch for around two hours. Then, we spent ANOTHER HOUR trying to get off an exit because some retard either didn’t have any money to pay the exit toll or didn’t know HOW to pay it. He / she must’ve held up @ 20 - 25 cars behind, including us! My gas was getting so low that we sputtered into a station on the north side suburbs. By that time, the game was in the third inning & Kersh had already given up a bunch of runs (4 - 5?). We checked into our hotel and went straight to the bar which was naturally filled with Brewer fans. We watched and cheered under our breaths as LA nearly came all the way back to win the game. After getting to our room, I sent the wife for some ice and who’s in the elevator with her? Mary Hart! The one and ONLY time she didn’t have her cell phone with her for a selfie. Said she was really sweet. So, the hotel has a shuttle to Miller Park for $20 and we get the last two seats on it. And I’m asking people on it about where the scalpers are for tix. Turns out, it’s illegal to resell tix anywhere in or around the stadium so I’m thinking we’re completely screwed. Someone suggested just going to the box office or picking up a pair via Stub Hub. So, we hit the box office and I ask for the best seats they have available. First row, between first base & right field and before the retarded baseline nets. $200 each. Yes, please!!! Great seats and a very cool stadium. Foul bar girl was right in front of us and promised me a playoff ball if a few came her way (had to take care of the kiddies first - cool!). Unfortunately, there was only one hit that way all night! LA won the game and we celebrated with a bunch of Spanish speaking folks that were seated near us. We didn’t understand them nor they us - but we all had our blue colours on and those are universal. Went to the local casino that night still wearing blue and got a lot of good natured boos and hisses. Think we might have even won a few bucks. Hit the Harley Davidson museum the next day for several hours before heading back to Cin City.

After LA wrapped the playoffs at home, I said what the hell - let’s fly out for the World Series. We had a bunch of Delta Skymiles, so two First Class (the ONLY way to fly) only ended up costing us @ $500.
Downtown hotels were selling out fast. The Westin was completely full as was the Marriott, both of which we had stayed at before.
We finally found one of the last rooms left in town at the Omni and made our reservations there.
That Friday, we had tickets to a Great White concert at a small venue up near UC.
I had paid a little extra so my wife could go on stage and play tambourine with the band.
The lead singer, Jack Russell was mysteriously missing from the Meet & Greet before they took the stage, but we did get photos & time with the rest of the band & they all signed her tambourine.
We were advised Jack would come out and meet us after the show was over.
So, after a LOT of beers, it’s Di’s turn to join the band on stage for “Once Bitten, Twice Shy”. I was allowed to stand off stage left and filmed the whole thing.
She was a bit nervous at first but ended up having a blast and doing a pretty good job with the tambourine.
So, about an hour later, Jack finally comes out and hangs with us and a couple of others for around a half hour, signs her tambourine & takes a bunch of pictures and selfies with us.
I think we rolled out of there around two a.m. and had to leave for the airport by five.
LA was still playing that marathon Game Three, so we got home & watched it until they finally won! YAY!!!
We got our pre-packed bags together, said goodbye to the kitties & headed for northern Kentucky. Yes - Greater Cincinnati International Airport is actually in Kentucky.
We stopped & had a McMuffin for breakfast before getting on the plane and drinking non-stop all the way to LA. Whiskey sours for me; Cape Cods for Di.
We were pretty pumped & totally baked by the time we hit LAX & got a town car to take us to the hotel.
We checked with the consierge about tix for the game (I had already been screwed by a dickhead on Craigslist who nailed me for nearly a grand).
Best he could do was upper deck at around $1,300 each! I went to the hotel computer and got a field level pair maybe 20 rows behind the LA dugout for @ $2,400. via StubHub.
Walked around a little, went to our room & crashed for several hours.
Hotel town car took us down to Union Station to catch the bus shuttle to the stadium.
Down 2 - 1 in the series, I’ve never heard the stadium as loud as it got when Puig hit the HR in the bottom of the sixth or seventh to break the tie and make it 3 - 1 LA.
I was in the LF pavilion getting a couple of Dodger dogs when the ball was hit that way.
But, alas - Daisy pulled Rich Hill with only 70 pitches for a completely spent bullpen and we all know how that turned out.
Game Five was inevitable to be a letdown with Kershaw pitching and he gave up four early before being pulled.
I got even better seats for @ $2,000 for this one. I guess sellers kinda figured they’d better get what they could for what was likely the final game of the series. We sat right behind Urkel who actually caught a foul ball on the bounce & gave it to a little kid next to us. Cool move.
Other than one other game several years earlier, these were the ONLY two games out of 35 - 40 I had been to at Dodger Stadium that resulted in L’s.
We watched the cheater Red Sox celebrate their series win on LA turf. Total BUMMER!
Went back to Union Station and took the subway up to Hollywood for dinner and drinks to drown our sorrows.
Still glad we did it and can say that I got to see my team play in the World Series in person.
Saw tix this year in both venues were already in the thousands for cheap seats.
Was REALLY hoping the Injuns (refuse to call them Guardians) would get in so we could make the drive up I-71 for the three games next week and possibly see LA clinch another title.
Maybe next year they or the Tigers will get past the Spanks. We can only hope . . .
FIRE DAISY & FRAUDY!!!

Dave said his grandson was injured too. What are you doing here with us then? Go be with your grandson. Why are you guilt tripping Dodger fans? Be with your grandson. Sociopath. NineBuck had no depths to his depravity. But they all did that shtick of "WE" won three championships in five years. We? You must have come disguised as swirling hot dog wrappers in the days of Candlestick. Why are you here with us right now? Go celebrate. No. They couldn't truly enjoy it without thinking they rubbed our noses in something. Freaks. Their obsession could be amusing.

He was the supposed admin of the Gnats forum, yet he allowed unlimited rudeness and profanity. If you got into an argument with a Gnat fan, some of them would make XXX rated remarks about your mother. I didn't suffer that fate, but I spoke up on behalf of others who did and the response was pretty lame: "well then then need to shut up". It was just good natured smack talk, not threats of murder. What irony that SF loves to boast how loving and accepting they are huh? And they were very rude to us Dodger fans after the Bryan Stow incident, as if we were involved. That's eerily like political mud slinging, and oppurtunism at its worst. It was as if they were happy about the beating, and some of them no doubt were, the mentally ill ones. I looked and they have a forum on freeforums, but they don't have much to discuss and why should they, their team being not much better than the WHite Sox? I wish we could go to any other team's forum and post, like the MLB days. I remember posting about Milton Bradley on the Indians' forum, asking if they'd like him back. They took it as I intended them to: tongue in cheek and it got a lot of laffs. And I also thanked them for letting us have Casey Blake. He was a pretty good 2Bman. The Yanks' and Red Sox forums were just like Dodger and Gnat: rude fans on both sides and they both had their own versions of Nine Buck. I can't figure out why hardly any people on the mlb Dodger forum post here. You, me and JR are regulars, with 2 others who post occaionally. I miss DodgerNicole and IowaDodger and some others.

I suggested him for a moderator position. Some of the people he recruited were cause for concern. But you have to reward people for a job well done. My voice can't be the only one. He used that to start a competing forum, with a couple of guys I, quite honestly, wondered about their sanity. It's my fault. Are they still around?

Chuck dissapeared long before DW did. And what about 88Bulldog?Dan might have just burned out on it. One thing was those two nuts recruited by the other guy. One had a tremendous boner for Dan. He would go out of his way to piss on anything Dan said. The other moderator thought that was okay. So I tried talking to Dan. Don't let them bother you. I've talked to him a few times. Not in a while. One guy stayed behind & kept insisting Dan was a Yankees fan. Notice that guy is gone now? No one left to argue with. He tried baiting me. Our politics are NOT the same. We would argue, he would recruit others to his side, & I was left explaining myself to EVERYONE. Something personal about me: I don't cut anyone slack on racial issues. Should I? Why? My BEST FRIEND was supposed to be best man at my wedding. A Latin guy. Half my friends were Latin. HE DIDN'T SHOW UP! My "best friend" didn't show up at my wedding because I was marrying a black woman. Motherfucker. You know he asked me to be best man at HIS wedding, about ten years later? Yes. The thought crossed my mind. But he knew me & that I wouldn't do that to him. I might sound like a bleeding heart liberal to many, because this is just who I am. This other poster would fall back on the poor brown me spiel. Then he would post anti-black bullshit. BUT, once again, my voice can't be the only one. You've seen me banter. I'll do that. I won't suppress opinions. That guy played a hand in Dan leaving too. He wouldn't leave Dan alone.

The MLB board certainly had its moments and characters. And it’s a damn shame that a few bad apples had to drive them into shutting it down.
I think that it was one of the first places that “trolling” started showing up. There was no Twitter / X and facebook may have been in its “infant” stages.
From panic to Lee, Dwoo to Coach and all the other crazies in between, there were a lot of laughs, quite a few good discussions about sports, religion, politics and I really hate I missed the meet-up out there.
I imagine it was a pretty good time and I would met some of the faces that up until then were simply words on a page.
Knowing the penchant of imbibing in adult beverages by most, if not all that attended, I have a feeling I would have fit right in and bought a few rounds for the crew and myself.
Hard to believe it’s been close to a couple decades since we all gathered on that site and regularly participated in game day threads that would sometimes go three or four hundred posts each game.
Ah, memories . . .
