Really liking Betts at 2nd. Kind of envisioned it if Outman, Heyward, Thompson, Peralta played up to their potential. Now, get Miggy healthy and going at 3rd and Muncy traded and my season will have started rockin'. Who’s going to take a .150 hitting mediocre utility infielder? If LA pulls off a trade for Muncy, that truly would be Magic. GO DODGERS!!!

Why is Vespa still on this team? Dude cannot get ANYONE out, including the weak ass Snakes lineup.
Blew May’s game last week and is doing the same again tonight. Three runs (so far) given up in less than three innings. Pathetic.
GO DODGERS!!!

And now another one of the blowpen misfits, Mary. Opens the inning with a double and WP to go along with his double digit ERA.
Another head scratcher.
GO DODGERS!!!

Well what do you know - Mary bails himself out with two K’s and a pop up. Three more outs to go in the ninth. Who’s going to be the closer du jour?
GO DODGERS!!!

Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Slugs first homer of 2023 Rotowire 5 HRS AGO Freeman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run in Thursday's 5-2 victory versus Arizona.
Freeman has reached base in all but one of the Dodgers' seven games this season, but prior to Thursday he had notched just one extra-base hit. The star first baseman changed that trajectory against Arizona, hitting a double in the third inning and a solo homer in the seventh. Freeman surprisingly has just one RBI on the campaign despite a standout .385/.500/.577 slash line.
Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: Held out due to tight back Rotowire 5 HRS AGO Graterol wasn't available for Thursday's game against Arizona due to back tightness, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed after the team's 5-2 win that he didn't use Graterol in the contest because the reliever's back tightened up in the middle of the game. Evan Phillips ended up nabbing his second save of the campaign, and he may be emerging as the team's first choice in closing situations. It's unclear if Graterol's back issue will cause him to miss additional time.
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Picks up second save Rotowire 5 HRS AGO Phillips earned a save against the Diamondbacks on Thursday, striking out one batter in a perfect inning of work.
Phillips got the call with Los Angeles up by three runs heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, and the right-hander retired the side in order to notch his second save in three days. It's worth noting that Brusdar Graterol was unavailable due to a tight back, per Juan Toribio of MLB.com, but manager Dave Roberts implied that he would have used Graterol in the eighth frame. It would be premature to label Phillips as the Dodgers' full-time closer, but he's earned both of the team's single-inning saves thus far and has has yet to allow a run through three innings this season.
Dodgers' Dustin May: Notches second quality start Rotowire 5 HRS AGO May (1-0) earned the win over Arizona on Thursday, pitching six innings and allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out five batters.
May kept the Diamondbacks off the scoreboard for five frames before a walk and a double gave Arizona a run with no outs in the sixth. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts elected to stick with the right-handed hurler, who bounced back to retire the next three batters and preserve the quality start. May missed most of last season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, but he has pitched well and without limitations so far in 2023, allowing just one run while posting a 9:3 K:BB over 13 innings across his first two starts.
Stats 7 HRS AGO Dodgers' Tony Gonsolin: Several steps away from return Rotowire 12 HRS AGO Gonsolin (ankle) completed live batting practice Wednesday but will throw at least another bullpen session and live batting practice prior to beginning a rehab assignment, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Gonsolin is working out at the Dodgers' spring training facility in Arizona as he continues to recover from a sprained left ankle. Manager Dave Roberts said Gonsolin "got through" the bullpen session, so it's unclear just how far his recovery has progressed. Regardless, it appears that Gonsolin is still at least a few weeks away from taking a big-league mound for the first time in 2023.

I'm leaning towards Roberts seeing the same thing I did about Graterol. He's not ready for prime time.
One has to think May abandoned his curve for a reason. He was getting a lot of swinging strikes with it, before his injury. Obviously he still throws gas, but without that out pitch, he has to throw more pitches. There were a lot of balls being fouled off.
Muncy had another K. Now batting .130. 12 K's in 27 plate appearances. 44%.

When all you have is gas, it’s going to get tagged like he has shown thus far. May at least has some movement on his heater, unlike Gaterade, who seems to find the middle of the plate more often than not. I think both of them need a secondary pitch if they are going to be successful, but if it bothers or causes another injury to May, he might be better off just throwing the heat and getting by with it for five or six innings. GO DODGERS!!!

AS for why he doesn't throw curves anymore, it seems he doesn't need to. He knows where he wants his pitches to go and how they get there and he's off to a great start.

Dodgers' Tony Gonsolin: Throws in Arizona Rotowire 26 MINS AGO Gonsolin (ankle) threw in the bullpen at Chase Field before Friday's game against the Diamondbacks, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Gonsolin is continuing to make practice from his sprained left ankle, but Harris notes that the manager didn't make it sound like he had a great live bullpen at Camelback Rach earlier in the week. Gonsolin will likely have more bullpen sessions ahead before a rehab assignment and he doesn't project to rejoin the rotation for the Dodgers until the end of April at the earliest.
Dodgers' David Peralta: Sitting versus lefty Rotowire 1 HR AGO Peralta is out of the lineup Friday versus the Diamondbacks.
James Outman, Trayce Thompson and Mookie Betts will start across the outfield for Los Angeles with left-hander Madison Bumgarner on the mound for Arizona. Peralta probably won't start against many southpaws this year.
Dodgers' Austin Barnes: Catching for Kershaw again Rotowire 1 HR AGO Barnes is catching and hitting ninth for Friday's game against the Diamondbacks, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.
Barnes will serve as the backstop as Clayton Kershaw's personal backstop again. The veteran backstop is hitless in his five at-bats to begin the 2023 campaign.
Dodgers' Will Smith: Sitting out Friday Rotowire 1 HR AGO Smith isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Friday's contest with the Diamondbacks, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Smith is off to a scorching-hot start to the season, slashing .391/.464/.913 through his first six games with at least one hit in each of them. He'll get a day off Friday, allowing Austin Barnes to start behind the dish and bat ninth.
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Remains out of lineup Rotowire 1 HR AGO Rojas (groin) remains absent from the lineup Friday against the Diamondbacks.
Rojas has been sidelined all week after tweaking his left groin on a play in the field Sunday, though he did participate in a pregame workout Thursday and figures to do the same Friday. Chris Taylor will draw another start at shortstop and hit eighth versus Arizona.
Dodgers' Miguel Vargas: Returns to lineup Friday Rotowire 1 HR AGO Vargas (thumb) is back in the Dodgers' lineup Friday against the Diamondbacks.
Vargas will start at second base and bat fifth after missing a couple of games due to a sore right thumb, the result of being hit by a pitch Monday. Mookie Betts is out in right field Friday and hitting leadoff.

We all know the big three pitching prospects, but right behind them is another big three, all at AA Tulsa: Nick Nastrini #9, Nick Frasso #10, and Emmit Sheehan #14. Nastrini is on extended spring right now, but Frasso pitched 4 innings tonite, 4 hits, 0 BB and 6 Ks, and Sheehan got 8 Ks in 5 perfect innings last nite. None of them will be MLB ready till next year, but I know all the other teams would love to have them on their farms. Our rotation has no holes in it.

Gatorade with a good clean inning tonight. No so much for Delmonte.
As young as the season is, I see LOT of holes in this pen and they haven’t had a single game where one of them didn’t give up runs.
Aren’t pitchers supposed to be ahead of hitters this time of the year?
If these guys can’t get outs in April, imagine what they’re going to be like come August / September with 30 - 40 innings on those arms.
That didn’t work out too well for us last year nor any other year that we had a bunch of five / six inning starters.
Unfortunately, that seems to be the Fraudman / Daisy roster makeup and game plan.
After all - they DID get us that title three years ago. But - oh yeah - we only played around a half season and the pen had half as many innings and appearances.
And we had Eew to come in and close out two games. Don’t see that happening again anytime soon with him being out #1 starter.
GO DODGERS!!!
