Carrottop with a strong first outing for the year only to have Vespa come in and cough up the lead. Dude can’t get anyone out.
Of course, LA already tonight 0 - 5 with RISP and nine LOB thru seven.
Hmm - where / when have we seen this before? AS usual, zero creativity by “the puppet twins” to move runners and still playing the “swing for the fences” game.
GO DODGERS!!!

And to end this pathetic display against the lowly Snakes, 0 - 7 w/ RISP and 12 LOB.
At least Maxine made contact with a few pitches tonight and nearly jacked one over the RFers head.
Hope Kersh gets the same support as Eew got opening day.
GO DODGERS!!!

A brilliant effort by Dustin May is wasted when Vesia gives up a two-run homer. Dodgers lose 2-1.

Max might wind up with 30 homers this year. I'll take that. But he would hit maybe .250. He learned NOTHING.

Max COULD have hit .400 last year if shortened up his swing or half-swung to get balls to the ALWAYS open left side. But his inability to listen to and learn from hitting coaches (if he even accepted any instruction) left him the below .200 pull hitter we had last year and have seen in Glendale and last night. He should be a bit better this year without the shift, but the positioning of the opposing 2B isn’t going to be too tough to figure out if he continues to hit balls to the same general area. And teams will continue to take advantage of the shift rule by moving an outfielder in and leaving LF deserted on strict pull hitters like Maxine. GO DODGERS!!!

Dodgers' Miguel Vargas: Reaches base four times Friday Rotowire 6 HRS AGO Vargas went 1-for-1 with a double and three walks in a loss to Arizona on Friday.
Vargas nearly hit his first home run of the season in the second inning, but the ball bounced off the wall, and he ended up with a double. The rookie set the table by walking in each of his three subsequent plate appearances, but the batters below him in the order couldn't cash him in. Vargas has displayed an astute eye at the plate through two games, walking five times over eight plate appearances.

If the pitch recognition regimen the Dodgers put Vargas on works, put Muncy on it too. He insists on pitches he can drive. Let him see how manty pitches he CAN'T drive wind up being called strikes. Now what?

Dodgers' James Outman: Gets night off against lefty Rotowire 26 MINS AGO Outman is not in the lineup for Saturday's showdown against the Diamondbacks, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Outman has started the first two games in center field for the Dodgers, but with a left-hander on the mound in the form of Madison Bumgarner, Trayce Thompson will patrol center and hit seventh. Outman will likely not see much playing time against southpaws, at least to open the 2023 season.
Dodgers' Austin Barnes: Gets start with Kershaw on mound Rotowire 29 MINS AGO Barnes is catching and hitting ninth for Saturday's contest against the Diamondbacks, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
As expected, Barnes is hitting ninth and behind the plate with Clayton Kershaw on the mound, so Will Smith will get the night off. Barnes provides plenty of value for the Dodgers with his defense, but not much fantasy value due to his lack of offensive upside.

I had already taken Outman out of my lineups because the Dodgers were facing a southpaw.

Did anyone notice Gavin STone's performance last nite at the OKC opener? He really got shelled! That's so ironic, how MLB hitters could hardly touch him this spring. Oh well, he'll bounce back. Tonite, Bobby Miller isn't pitching and he didn't pitch the entire spring and I see he's not even on the roster right now. I know they sent him to minor league camp, but I wonder what's going on?

Cubs new cleanup hitter, cody bellinger is 0-7 3 K's I saw one of Cody's at bats w/RISP. He chased that slider on the outside corner as is his custom, and was called out on strikes on an inside corner pitch. Letting him walk is proving to be a very wise move.

Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Dealing with shoulder soreness Rotowire MAR 31, 2023 Miller will be sidelined to start the minor-league season due to mild shoulder soreness, MLB.com reports. Miller is in line to make his MLB debut this season if he can pitch well at Triple-A and stay healthy, but he's already dealing with a shoulder issue to start the season. After a dominant spring training on the heels of a spectacular 2022 season, Gavin Stone is the more likely premium Dodgers pitching prospect to join the big-league rotation this summer.
