Dodgers' Max Muncy: Smashes another homer Rotowire 1 HR AGO Muncy went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Cubs.
Muncy continued his recent power surge Friday, slamming a solo shot to right field in the seventh inning. The powerful third baseman has gone deep five times in his past four games, racking up 12 RBI and slashing .538/.571/1.692 over that span. Muncy's offensive resurgence corresponds with his recent decision to return to the "back step" move in his hitting motion that he added late last season, per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times. The move helped Muncy finish 2022 on a high note offensively, and it's already paying dividends for him this season.
Dodgers' Chris Taylor: Goes deep Friday Rotowire 1 HR AGO Taylor went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in a loss to the Cubs on Friday.
Taylor got the start in place of James Outman in left field with the Dodgers facing lefty Justin Steele. The versatile Taylor produced the first run of the game for Los Angeles with a 412-foot solo shot in the third inning. However, the utility man fanned in his second at-bat, giving him 16 strikeouts through 39 plate appearances on the season. Taylor's 41.0 percent strikeout rate is third-worst in the majors among players with at least 30 plate appearances.
Dodgers' Noah Syndergaard: Turns in solid outing in loss Rotowire 7 HRS AGO Syndergaard (0-2) took the loss Friday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks over six innings against the Cubs. He struck out nine.
Syndergaard pitched well but did not have enough run support in this contest. This start was a nice rebound for the right-hander after he gave up six runs in four innings against the Diamondbacks last week. The veteran will now look to shut down his former team next week, as the Dodgers will host the Mets.
Dodgers' Jason Heyward: Taking grounders at first base Rotowire 15 HRS AGO Heyward has spent some time recently fielding grounders at first base in case he is needed there in an emergency or blowout situation, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Heyward has never played any infield position during a regular-season game in the majors, but the veteran could pick up a few extra at-bats somewhere down the line if he's able to add first base to his repertoire. The Dodgers have Freddie Freeman to play the position on an everyday basis, so there's no thought at all of Heyward suddenly becoming a regular contributor there. Heyward has logged only 21 plate appearances on the campaign, though he's been relatively productive with three homers and five RBI.

at the start of the season I predicted this team would win 90 games. Looks like I was a bit optimistic. I had hoped for 90 wins and a very hot october. but this is no playoff team, wait til next year I guess. Yes I have written them off on april 15th. Take heart! In 2018, the year after the Trashtros cheated us out of a ring, on this date, the team was 5-9 and in the cellar. The team won 92 games and was again in the WS. It's very early and many teams that have gone to the WS had bad Aprils. That 2018 team was 12-16 at the end of April. The Monks might be a tougher team than they were last year and we're weaker, but we're still the team to beat with superior pitching, despite Jackon's batting practice pitching last nite. Every team goes thru streaks like this every year and it can be discouraging but it's a long season. The Turner brothers' new teams are both under .500 so maybe it was a good idea to let them both walk. Trea is doing well and Justin is doing OK as of today.

Another stellar performance by the blowpen. Five runs on six hits over two innings by Jackson. To the baby bears. At home. Superb. GO DODGERS!!! You can blame Jackson's batting practice pitching, but our hitters didn't do so well either.

That 2018 team was stacked and despite their slow start, had the players that could and did come around to perform up to their potentials. I don’t see that in this team. We’ve got three legitimate stars in the lineup - four if Max continues his tear. That leaves five very suspect and meh hitters against teams that know how to get outs. Outman has been outstanding (pun intended), but can he sustain that throughout an entire season in the big show? Only time will tell. We’ve got Peralta, Taylor (who is working toward striking out every other at bat), Heyward, the Miguels - none of these guys actually strike fear in opposing pitchers. And while our starters have been solid for the most part, the pen has been atrocious and seeing three or four innings out of these guys every night is a recipe for disaster. I’d be more than surprised to see these guys win 80, which would put them right around .500 for the year and get Daisy another two or three year extension. GO DODGERS!!!

Dodgers' David Peralta: Not in lineup Saturday Rotowire 1 HR AGO Peralta is not in the lineup Saturday versus the Cubs.
James Outman, Jason Heyward and Mookie Betts will start across the outfield against the visiting Cubs and right-hander Jameson Taillon. Peralta has slashed just .179/.207/.214 through 29 plate appearances this season.
Dodgers' Will Smith: Remains sidelined Saturday Rotowire 1 HR AGO Smith (illness) remains out of the lineup Saturday against the Cubs.
Smith was absent from Friday's series opener because of an illness and will take at least one more day of rest. Austin Barnes is starting at catcher and batting ninth on Jackie Robinson Day at Dodger Stadium.

One thing I'll say there is I don't care what Bellinger does in Chicago this year. Outman couldn't possibly be worse than Cody was here the last several seasons.

Dodger bullpen imploding again? Actually untouched tonight. Unfortunately, Daisy has the B lineup going. Barnes is useless. JD & Mookie swinging at everything. Heyward and Vargas? No comment. Outman finally breaks through. Now can someone drive him in? GO DODGERS!!!

Mike Grove, very pleaasant surprise huh? When I saw he was pitching, I groaned, and thought he'd be a repeat of Jackson last nite, especially considering his last start. Now to get Mookie off the snide and hit like a leadoff hitter is supposed to.
