Man, Puig was/is so immature and selfish. After being saved from the cartel you'd think he would have tried to be the best he could be at everything. This is the problem with pampering in this life. And how much money did we throw at those guys? Puig got over 40 million. Then there was the guy we unloaded on the Braves. Hector Olivera? Oliveras? He got over 60 million. I remember he bought this really rare car with it. Like only a dozen in the world. Something like that. Guerrero looked like he might be a keeper for a hot second. He got close to 30 million. That pitcher Sierra. Where is he now? There were at least a couple others. When I first saw Puig he looked like a linebacker. With his combination of power & speed, the sky is the limit. Then I watched him play. Even in his first two, really promising seasons, he looked like a bonehead. Pujols picking him off was both embarrassing & hilarious. I didn't like the Cardinals, of all people, calling us "Mickey Mouse." Remember Adrian Gonzalez flapping his make believe ears? But Yasiel inspired that kind of hatred in other teams. He was a hot dog. He never hit the cut off man. He ran through stop signs like a kid in a little league game. Obviously the Dodgers felt they could educate him. Obviously they were wrong. Now we find out for sure it has nothing to do with the "little boy" in Puig & the big asshole in him. All he could think about was himself. If that point escaped me before, him being sent back down to the minors sure checked that box. He tried to encourage his new teammates to rebel.

He was actually not as good as people say he was, oh yeah, he had a strong arm but dumb as a sack of rocks, and didn't know how to use that arm like hitting the cut off man. The guy was great when he first came up but after time was a total loser, the Dodgers knew he was a time bomb and they did the right thing, unload him and rightfully so, he's a idiot and no team in Major League Baseball will touch him, he's a problem and always will be, that's why he plays in some foreign country for peanuts, what a waste! Puig is why Major league teams do their homework now, here's the latest on the hero and why he'll never play in the Major League again, he's a dirt bag 🧐 www.google.com/amp/s/sports.yahoo.com/amphtml/yasiel-puig-settles-sexual-assault-lawsuit-wants-to-return-to-mlb-in-2022-140438426.htmlHe's always in trouble some where or how, dirt always follows him, total loser, I'm glad the dirt bag is long gone and so are the Dodgers 👍 www.google.com/amp/s/www.espn.co.uk/mlb/story/_/id/31257025/yasiel-puig-denies-accusations-sexual-assault-lawsuit%3fplatform=amp

I don’t disagree that Roberts is a poor manager who makes / made highly questionable decisions, especially when it involved pitching. Allowing Kershaw to pitch another inning against the Astros who were hitting him like batting practice in the 2017 WS. Pulling Hill in Game 4 against the Red Sox at just over 70 pitches cost us not only that game, but possibly also the title. Using Kershaw in relief against the Nats in 2019. Using Urias in relief against the Braves in 2020. But I don’t think Scherzer throwing shade for the way Roberts used him is anything more than a piss poor excuse for his piss poor performances at the end of the year and the postseason. He was practically unhittable until his final two games and then he became perfectly normal. How he thinks that he would have been better off throwing 110 - 120 pitches in every start before those final two would have made him better and stronger is beyond me. His “dead arm” issues would have seemed more likely and plausible had he been “overused”, rather than “underused”. I don’t think Scherzer particularly liked pitching for or under Roberts and I can’t say that I blame him. But to blame Roberts for his own failures & shortcomings is a cop out. And he went to New York for the money grab, just like Greinke did to Arizona. Nothing more, nothing less. His “desire” to play for a competitive, postseason team went straight out the window the minute he saw all those zeroes on that offer sheet. I don’t wish him luck with the Mutts - we all know they suck and will continue to do so, even with him and deGrom as their one - two punch. Jacob has problems staying off the IL as well as run support when he is able to make starts. Max will very likely suffer the same. But at least he’ll have a couple of new Ferraris to tool around Long Island in. GO DODGERS!!!

Max said he sucked and was disappointed on how he performed, he just didn't like his routine being messed with like coming out've the bullpen, extra time off in between starts and innings limited per start like the Dodgers used him, he made no excuses.
The article clearly says, let this be a lesson to teams that are so concerned about preserving players, keeping them in bubble wrap, and avoiding harm, that sometimes it’s best to just let the athletes do their thing and not overmanage or place too many limitations. This is yet another example of how “load management” can have negative effects.
And if I'm Max or Greinke, hell yea, follow the money, this is what you worked for your whole life and guess what, with the moves the Mutts have made and the lack of what the Dodgers have plus losing a few players, I'm not so sure the Dodgers are in a better spot than the Mutts in 2022 😉

I wondered how he felt about that. It's actually admirable he kept quiet at the time.

His first seven starts for LA were brilliant, all resulting in W’s and an ERA a little over 1.5. He threw close to 100 pitches in all of them, if I remember correctly and even over 100 in a couple. His last two regular season games against SD & CO? Not so much. He suffered from control issues, walking four or five each game and K’ing only two or three. He also was charged with five and six runs in these two and his pitch count was still in the 90’s. Are we to believe that had he gotten another inning and 15 - 20 additional pitches in his first seven starts that he would have been better in the final two? That’s a bit of a stretch, if you ask me. And ALL of these starts were on regular four days of rest in between. As far as his pitching out of the pen - he practically BEGGED Roberts for the ball in the SF game and it took him 30 or so pitches just to get through that final inning. That game, in turn did mess up the entire rotation for the next two series, but his start against St. Louis came after four days of rest. His next and only game against the Braves was the only one he pitched after less than four days off and his “dead arm” kept him out of Game 6 which would have also been on four days rest. Out of the hundreds of thousands of pitchers that have toed the rubber, I have yet to hear a single one, other than Max complain about not getting enough innings and pitches in games affecting his later appearances. It’s simply ridiculous to even think that this is a factor. In 2018, our starters and pen pretty much sucked the entire WS against the Red Sox and the biggest reason was they were cooked from excessive innings pitched in the regular season. Do I blame Max for chasing the money? Of course not. But don’t blow smoke up our ass and state you want to stay on the west coast and play for a perennial postseason team and then bail for another few mil. At least Greinke was up front and flat out stated he was going to the highest bidder. And did I miss something that suddenly made the Mutts contenders and in the same boat as LA? They lost Syndergaard and replaced him with an upgrade in Max. So, they have a decent one - two rotation. But who else do they have or have they picked up that makes them better than the last few years? And I can almost guarantee one or both of those guys end up on the IL before the year is out. We lost Max, Knebel and an all star shortstop. Fortunately, we have ANOTHER better defensive all star shortstop in Turner who will likely equal or exceed Seager’s output. I put our one - two of Buehler and Urias, the only 20 game winner in the league last year up against any of the other AL or NL teams. May appears to be progressing ahead of schedule and we could see him back on the mound sooner than expected. If LA can lock up Freeman, I don’t think this team misses a beat and will very likely be once again favoured to win it all. Sorry - but I don’t see that happening for the Mutts. Of course - this is all just my opinion. I could be wrong. GO DODGERS!!!

No you make very good points, no doubt and I concur 👍
They are saying May should be back by mid season, I surely hope so because that could be huge for the Dodgers, guys young and strong, there's a lot of talent there and who knows, we should have Caleb Ferguson back also and who knows what he will bring to the table, might surprise everybody!

I thought Hill made excuses that one time. He told Roberts to watch him. That's pretty much saying you don't feel right. Then, after pitching a masterpiece for 7.0 innings, Rich said he shouldn't have been taken out. Scherzer is a sure first ballot Hall of Famer. If a lesser pitcher like Hill can be guilty of protecting his ego, so can an all time great. I just wondered how Max viewed the practices of our manager when we've all expressed similar bewilderment. Did Max ultimately chase the money? They all do. I really like the city & schools. This organization is steeped in tradition. That's why I'm signing with the Rockies.

Hahaha, good post and I'm gonna say and not looking for a fight but I think players who come and go look at the Dodgers and most importantly their field leader and his failure with this team for many years!
And his button that the front office pushes, I feel and many Dodger fans think Roberts and about time to mention Andrew is a idiot, but here again, my hope is I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure I'm not, only Guggenheim Baseball Management knows, my god, build on this great team and do what we all see that needs to be done, get a leader and cut off the front office and their computers 👨💻
Get a baseball guy with baseball instincts and let him run the Machine, just saying, does anybody else see this or am I just blowing smoke 🙆♂️

His reliance on analytics and the string pulling of Friedman are more than obvious and I truly don’t see these guys winning another title with these two at the helm. The sad thing is - Guggenheim and company seem to be happy with them and coming in second or third every year. And unless they decide to sell, we may be stuck with both of them for awhile. It’s more than apparent to me that when you don’t even open talks of interviewing not one, but TWO fairly relevant and successful managers in Girardi and Madden that ownership is willing to “stay the course; a thousand points of life” (sorry - just had to throw that W reference in!). And as long as they keep putting 50 large in the seats every game, which they have done despite their postseason woes, LA will remain “close, but no cigar”. GO DODGERS!!!

When I look at a team that was pretty much put back together after the break on bandaids and bandages because of injuries and winning it all without one if not the best player in baseball ( Ronald Acuña Jr. ) it's hard for me not to look at the leadership in LA, I only hope somebody else is also 👍

I always like hearing Doug McKain's comments. This time, it's about Jansen. He might be a fish next year with Mattingly coaxing him, but will he want to play for one of the worst teams in the bigs? Alas, it's always about the money. I think we should put a great effort into locking him up for a couple seasons anyway.

AS it stands now, our rotation is a royal mess. Scherzer is gone, Kersh might be, May is injured, Bauer is suspended, Price is incompetent, Gonsolin is inconsistent and Pepiot and Miller aren't ready. A FA signing and/or trade for a starter is a MUST. What a switch from only a year ago. After watching this video, I think our rotation will be just fine. The '22 season might start like the '18 season, after that 104 win season did when our guys didn't get to .500 till June 5 and take 1st place till July 12 and were in a dogfight till the bitter end in September. You never know, with our team's history of turning around players taken from the scrap heap, Heany and Hudson just might do well. And May will be back after the ASB though Bauer's status is still up in the air. Regardless, let's keep an eagle eye on Jackson, Miller, Pepiot and Knack cos at least one of them just might be ready to join the rotation by mid-season. Kind of reminds me of the '78 Dodgers (who was that?) when Bob Welch was called up and did great. This video really goes into depth about all four of these guys and the others in the top 10:
