So, four guys (with several more chomping at the bit) competing for two spots in the rotation. Must suck to be a starter on this team.
Bauer, Buehler and Kershaw are locks - we all know that. But Eewrias, Goose, May and Price could easily be top of the rotation guys on more than a few MLB rosters.
I still get the feeling Eew will end up getting screwed again if he does start the season in the rotation. They’ve pulled this shit on the kid every year since bringing him up.
He gets three or four starts, does well and gets booted to the pen. I’m hoping that maybe once the Vulture shows his true colours they’ll take one of these four and convert them to a closer.
It worked for steroid boy Gangé - they sure shouldn’t have any issues converting any of those four, either. Eew already proved he had the cajonés and mentality to handle the job last October.
May, with that crazy red mop of his and 100 mph plus fastball could be our “Wild Thing” in the ninth.
Price and Goose might be the two “questionables” as closers, but there’s still Bruster Graterol that I think could fill the role as well.
Should be interesting to see just how Daisy uses the wealth of arms bestowed upon him.
GO DODGERS!!!

We still have Josiah Gray too. If he gets called up, they can go with May/Urias in the 8th & 9th, or flip them & go Urias/May if there are good matchups for Julio in the 8th.
Treinen, Morrow, Knebel, Graterol. Hopefully the Dodgers never need much from Jansen & Kelly. A friend of mine said Kenley looks like he's in shape though. Then he shook his head & noted it was a contract year. I would really hate to think that's been the problem.

I was impressed with Ryan Pepiot, who pitched the 7th inning. Though he was charged with two runs, he made great pitches to get his K. He serves up lots of walks despite his great ERA and he seems to have trouble getting the ball down. He gives me the impression that he could be a starter in the bigs if he learns control. THat has to be the reason he's only ranked 25th.

Dodgers' Jimmy Nelson: Looks good again Tuesday Rotowire 11 HRS AGO Nelson completed two perfect innings in Tuesday's Cactus League contest against the Reds, striking out three batters.
Nelson needed a mere 20 pitches to retire all six batters he faced, racking up three strikeouts in the process. The veteran has impressed in his two spring starts, allowing only an unearned run and one hit while striking out four over three frames. He appears healthy and could be making a push for a roster spot, though he could start in a relief role if he makes the team. Per Eric Stephen of SBNation.com, Nelson would be open to such a scenario.
Dodgers' Cody Bellinger: Live at-bats coming Wednesday Rotowire 18 HRS AGO Bellinger (shoulder) will take live at-bats Wednesday and remains on track to make his Cactus League debut around March 15, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
The 25-year-old played center field but didn't bat during a B game Sunday, so progressing to facing live pitching is a significant step toward his return. Manager Dave Roberts has consistently tabbed mid-March as the expected timeframe for Bellinger's spring debut, and that outlook has yet to change as he ramps up his conditioning.

David Price open to pitching out of the bullpen: 'Whatever makes the 2021 Dodgers better, I'm all for it'
Price was on the mound in a game on Monday for the first time since last March By Mike Axisa
Mar 9, 2021 at 11:06 am ET
2 min read
For the first time in one year and one day, Los Angeles Dodgers lefty David Price took the mound in a major-league game Monday. Price was among the 22 players who opted out of the 2020 season, but he is rejoining the team this year, and Monday afternoon he made his 2021 spring training debut.
Price's return was brief and efficient. He needed 11 pitches to strike out one in the 1-2-3 inning, and his fastball sat 91-93 mph and hit 94 mph twice according to the television broadcast. In 2019, his last MLB season, Price's fastball averaged 91.9 mph.
Price pitched out of the bullpen Monday -- Julio Urias started the game and threw three spotless innings -- and while it's not uncommon for starters to come out of the bullpen to get work in spring training, the role change could be permanent. He has communicated to the club he is willing to pitch in any role.
"If it happens, I'm willing to do whatever you guys need me to do," Price told reporters, including Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register, on Monday. "But I told them, whatever they need me to do, whatever makes the 2021 Dodgers better, I'm all for it."
Not many teams could afford to put a starter of Price's caliber in the bullpen, but the Dodgers are not most teams. Their rotation will include Urias, Trevor Bauer, Walker Buehler, and Clayton Kershaw in whatever order. Tony Gonsolin and Dustin May represent viable No. 5 starter options should Price pitch in relief.
"It's just being able to identify how much talent we have on this team from our starters. Young guys, especially Gonzo, D-May, and Julio, those guys are next level," Price said, according to True Blue LA's Eric Stephen. "Right before we signed Trevor, I reached out to [president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman] and said, 'Whatever happens, I'm willing to do whatever you guys need me to do. That's not a problem for me, so just keep me in the loop and let me know.'"
Price, now 35, has some big-league bullpen experience. He broke in as a reliever with the 2008 Rays and he pitched in relief late in 2017 with the Red Sox after suffering an injury. Price also has nine postseason relief appearances to his credit. Los Angeles is currently slated to lean on Victor Gonzalez, Brusdar Graterol, Kenley Jansen, and Blake Treinen in the late innings.
For now, Price will continue to stretch out his arm and build up his workload in spring training. It's much easier to go from starter to reliever than vice versa, and the Dodgers will want him available to start come Opening Day just in case.
The Dodgers acquired Price in the Mookie Betts trade last year and he's let to pitch in a non-spring training game with them.

Dodgers' Keibert Ruiz: Set for spring debut Rotowire 1 HR AGO Ruiz will work as the Dodgers' reserve catcher Friday and Sunday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
Ruiz was forced to arrive late to camp due to visa issues, but is now prepared to appear in his first games this spring. He managed to make eight plate appearances with the big-league club in 2020, but is likely to begin the season at the alternate site with Will Smith and Austin Barnes ahead of him on the depth chart.

Dodgers' Dennis Santana: In mix for roster spot Rotowire 5 HRS AGO Santana could make the Opening Day roster in a bullpen role, Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com reports.
Santana has looked good so far this spring, hurling four scoreless innings and giving up only one hit while striking out five. The right-hander was primarily a starter in the minors, so he could function as a multi-inning reliever if he breaks camp with the Dodgers. That possibility may depend on the status of Joe Kelly (shoulder), who is currently a question mark to be ready by Opening Day.
Dodgers' Trevor Bauer: Struggles with delivery Rotowire 9 HRS AGO Bauer noted that he struggled with his delivery during his spring training appearance Thursday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Bauer struggled with his control in the first inning, as he issued three walks and hit an additional batter with a pitch. After the game, he noted issues with his delivery in the early portion of the outing and also said he was struggling to focus with his right eye. There shouldn't be much reason for concern however, as he settled in to throw 65 pitches and completed 2.2 innings while striking out four.

Kody Hoese, our #4 prospect is allright! Rick Monday and Orel Hershiser see great potential in him, from his hitting stance to his working the count. Granted, he's had six PAs but he shows great plate discipline and they said he has a pretty low chase rate. He looks like he'll take over 3B in '23 or even '22, if the DH is forced on the NL and Justin takes over in that position.
Andy Pages, our #8, could take over in LF in '22 depending on what we do with Pollack. '
Mike Busch, #3, has had a good deal of playing time, but he has Gavin Lux ahead of him, so it looks like he's being shopped along with Jimmy Nelson for perhaps a righty power hitting OF.
I confess I can get carried away raving about our kids, but I love seeing them develop from draft day.

Dodgers' David Price: Strong in second spring outing Rotowire 19 HRS AGO Price tossed three scoreless innings against Cleveland in a Cactus League game Friday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out two.
Price followed Walker Buehler on the mound Friday and looked sharp, limiting Cleveland to a single and a walk. He was pitching on just three days' rest following his spring debut Monday, and there has been some discussion about the left-hander pitching out of the bullpen to begin the campaign. Price hasn't shown much rust despite opting out last season; he has yet to allow a run in four spring innings.
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Whiffs four Friday Rotowire 19 HRS AGO Buehler hurled three innings in Friday's Cactus League win over Cleveland, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks while striking out four.
Buehler gave up a pair of third-inning runs, but the outing was an improvement over his previous start, when he gave up four runs across three frames against Texas. The right-hander has struggled overall this spring, posting a 6.75 ERA and .314 BAA across three starts. Nonetheless, Buehler remains one of the game's top starters and should slot in near the top of the Dodgers' rotation again this season.

Dodgers' Andrew Toles: Contract renewed Rotowire 21 HRS AGO Toles' contract was renewed by the Dodgers on Thursday, the Associated Press reports.
Toles has been on the restricted list since March 2019 and hasn't worked out with the Dodgers since leaving extended spring training in May of the same year. He was arrested in Florida last June on a misdemeanor trespassing charge and is reportedly getting help for the mental health issues that led to the arrest. There's little chance that Toles will play at all in 2021, and his overall baseball future is unquestionably murky, so the Dodgers' decision to renew his contract is likely a move to support the outfielder and ensure that he continues to receive health insurance to cover the help he needs.

Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Named Opening Day starter Rotowire 1 HR AGO Kershaw has been named the Opening Day starter for the Dodgers, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Kershaw led the Dodgers to a World Series title in 2020, and it's only fitting that the southpaw will take the mound against the Rockies to begin the regular season in 2021. Kershaw was electric during the abbreviated season last year and posted a 2.16 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 62:8 K:BB over 58.1 innings across 10 regular-season starts.

Dodgers' Julio Urias: Whiffs five in spring outing Sunday Rotowire 3 HRS AGO Urias pitched 2.1 innings against Kansas City in Sunday's Cactus League contest, allowing five runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks while striking out five.
The Dodgers' defense did little to help Urias get off to a smooth start Sunday, committing a pair of errors and a passed ball in the first inning. Though the southpaw was charged with five runs, only one was earned, and that came on a solo home run in the second frame. Urias is attempting to secure the fifth spot in the starting rotation heading into the campaign, and he has held his own so far, giving up two earned runs and striking out six over 6.1 spring innings.
Dodgers' Dustin May: Slated for three innings Monday Rotowire 3 HRS AGO May will start for the Dodgers in Monday's Cactus League contest versus Colorado and is scheduled to pitch three innings, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
May has pitched in only one game so far this spring, tossing two scoreless innings versus San Francisco on March. 2. The right-hander is a candidate for a spot in the Dodgers' rotation heading into the campaign, though the team's pitching depth makes it more likely that May instead begins in a bullpen role.

Dodgers' Keibert Ruiz: Gets demoted Rotowire 2 HRS AGO The Dodgers optioned Ruiz to their minor-league camp Monday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
As expected, Ruiz's demotion likely locks Will Smith and Austin Barnes in as the Dodgers' catchers on the Opening Day roster. Ruiz -- who received a brief cup of coffee with Los Angeles in 2020 -- will presumably serve as the everyday catcher at Triple-A Oklahoma City this season.
