Of course it's very early. He's only pitched two games so far. I'm not rooting against the guy. I always liked him. Just thought he was overpaid. Could we have afforded Mookie Betts if we overpaid Ryu? www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=ryuhy01&t=p&year=2020Remember his pinpoint control last year? 4 walks & a hit batsman in just 9.0 innings in 2020. $80,000,000 over four years.

I watched a couple innings yesterday and he was wild high, within the strike zone. I thought he was missing his spots and the hitters took advantage.

I liked him as well and you can’t blame the guy for taking full advantage of what is likely to be his “career” year. But $80 mil over four seems like a huge overpay for a guy who’s on the downside of a number three (on our and a good deal of other clubs) starter. And does anybody really know how old the dude actually is? He’s also had a number of injury issues that have put him on the IL for extended periods of time. I wish him well, but I think the Jays might be eating a little crow and some of that contract in years three and four. GO DODGERS!!!

Ryu def deserved 20 mill a year... he wasn’t getting it from the Dodgers though... too many other people to pay

Maeda is doing great. 2-0 w/ a 1.64 ERA, 0.64 WHIP, 12 K's & just 2 walks in 11.0 innings. Glad for him. He sacrificed a lot of money for the team before his unhappiness became public knowledge.
Ryu goes against the Braves tomorrow.

Ryu pitched 5.0 innings of one-hit shutout ball against the Braves. 8 strikeouts. He needed that. His ERA is now 5.14.

Maeda toes the rubber tomorrow versus the Pirates.

Kenta had a quality start against the Pirates. 6.0 innoings & three runs allowed. He allowed just three hits (one a homer) & 1 walk, while striking out four. He didn't figure in the decision. A 6-5 loss. The Twins have been keeping him around the 80 pitch mark. Unlike with the Dodgers, that's been good enough to average about 6.0 innings per.
He's now 2-0 w/ a 2.65 ERA & 0.65 WHIP. 16 K's & 3 walks in 17.0 innings. 4.2 hits per 9 innings.

Ryu allowed 2 hits over 6.0 innings versus Miami in his last outing. One run off a homer. 7 strikeouts & 2 walks. That's 3 hits allowed, 1 run, 15 K's & 5 walks in his last 11.0 innings. His ERA is now 4.05. His WHIP is 1.25 over 20.0 total innings.
Maeda allowed 5 hits, 1 walk & 2 earned runs against the Brewers in his last start. 5 K's in 6.2 innings. His ERA is now 2.66 with a 0.72 WHIP. 21 strikeouts in 23.2 innings. They have been very strict with his pitch count. He's thrown 84, 83, 80 & 85 pitches. He's 3-0.

Alex Verdugo is batting .273-5-8 for the Red Sox. Yes, 5 homers. He hit 3 of those in two games August 5th-7th. He's hit 2 more in his last 2 games. The latter two were against the Yankees, so Alex is endearing himself to Sox fans in a big way.

I was really worried about his back problem, and glad he appears to be healthy now.

Ryu pitched another gem in his last outing, on the 17th against Baltimore. 6.0 innings, 4 hits allowed, one run, earned, 3 strikeouts, no walks. He picked up the win. Now 2-1 w/ a 3.46 ERA & 1.12 WHIP. 27 K's in 26.0 innings. I've loved that chubby guy from the time he had to be helped over the pool fence in Arizona.
Maeda did better. 8.0 innings, 1 hit, 1 run, earned, 12 K's & 2 walks, on the 18th versus Milwaukee. He didn't figure in the decision, an eventual 4-3 win. 115 pitches this time. He's now 3-0 w/ a 2.27 ERA & 0.63 WHIP. 33 K's in 31.2 innings. Just 6 walks. Kenta leads the league with an average of 4.0 hits allowed per 9 innings.

Got pulled after giving up a lead off hit that inning. Pen allowed the brew crew to tie it up. GO DODGERS!!!

Verdugo is batting .311-5-13 / .367 / .519 in 147 PA's. 13 doubles. I see he already has 7 assists. If you don't know you better ax somebody! Don't run on Alex.
Since the last update Ryu has pitched twice. A total of 12.0 innings, 12 hits allowed, 3 runs, 1 earned, 15 strikeouts & 3 walks. He's picked up a win. He's now 3-1 / 2.51 ERA & 1.09 WHIP. 48 K's in 43.0 innings.
Maeda has thrown 11.0 innings, 11 hits allowed, 3 homers, 4 runs, all earned, 15 strikeouts & 3 walks. He's picked up a win & a loss. Now 4-1 w/ a 2.53 ERA & league leading 0.75 WHIP. 48 K's in 42.2 innings.
