Dodgers' Victor Gonzalez: Added to 40-man roster
Rotowire 2D ago
Gonzalez was added to the Dodgers' 40-man roster Thursday.
The southpaw recorded a 2.31 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP in 38 appearances (13 starts) in the minors last season. The 23-year-old has yet to appear in the majors, but his addition to the 40-man roster bodes well for his chances of debuting in 2020.

Dodgers' Victor Gonzalez: Added to 40-man roster I have no problem with Friedman trying to develop or finding gems because he has been good at it. But, stop screwing around and go get Will Smith who is a great lefty that can close games just in case Jansen keeps struggling.

There are a few problems with that: first, making a trade with a division rival, especially our bitter one since the early 1900s is pretty sketchy. Second, What makes you think the Gnats will deal him away when they're trying to rebuild? Third, we already have a Will Smith, so how do we differenciate between the catcher and pitcher?

No need to do anything with SF. He is a free agent. Which is totally dumb on their part since they didn't move him at the deadline, as well as with Bumgarner, especially since there is no more waiver deadline.

And speaking of the Giants. It is almost 100% guaranteed that they will buy out the Panda. He can be a pick-up as a bat off the bench. He hits from both sides and hit .313 with an on base off .353 as a right handed batter last year and he was equivalent to JT playing 3rd with a .962 fielding %.

Now, if they can just lock up that tub Tyler White. Team him up with the Panda and Golden Corral franchise owners in and around Orange County all get early retirement. Might be a good time to look into their franchise fees. I’m sure there’s going to be a need for additional units if those two are on the roster. Might even consider Glendale, AZ. Those two alone could do enough damage in the few spring months that owners might be able to take the rest of the year off. GO DODGERS!!!

When does free agency officially start? Hey there snoop! Nov. 4: Free agency begins. The five-day exclusive negotiating period will end next Monday and free agents will be truly free to negotiate and sign with any team. That said, much like the regular season, MLB free agency is a marathon, not a sprint. We (probably) won't see a rash of signings on Day 1 of free agency because MLB is not a salary-capped league (though the luxury tax has acted like a cap the last few years), and players aren't as worried about getting left out in the cold when cap space runs out. Nov. 4: Deadline for teams to tender their eligible free agents the qualifying offer. The qualifying offer is a one-year contract worth the average of the top 125 salaries, or $17.8 million this offseason. To be eligible for the qualifying offer, a player must have spent the entire 2019 season with his team and have never received the qualifying offer previously. The Cubs can make Cole Hamels the qualifying offer but not Nicholas Castellanos because he came over in a midseason trade.
