I think Joc is a good to great left handed power hitter. I wouldn't call him elite. I think it's fair to say that he is a good to great left handed power hitter with a low batting average, low RBI totals, no speed, average arm, and the weakest of the team's outfield defenders.
I didn't say he was "elite". Elite players can play against both RHP and LHP. I did say he was an "elite platoon player". And he is.
Great power and high OPS. Team him up with a right handed bat like AJ and you could get 40-50 HRs from the starting left fielder.
And btw - he had 74 RBIs from mostly the leadoff spot last year and in only 450 total at bats. That's not a low amount. That's a lot of production.
I know you said elite platoon player. While I will agree that 74 RBIs is actually pretty good I still disagree that he is an elite anything. Dude is Adam Dunn to me one that we all trashed years ago on the MLB site. Dunn's game wasn't accepted then might it might be that Joc's is accepted now because the game has changed a lot.

The word is that Joc's price tag of $7.75 mil is kind of an obstacle for some teams. Why not contact the Mets about Syndergaard and package them with other stuff. Probably Joc to the Mets wouldn't fly since they have the outfield covered and I think Cespedes returning but I'm sure they would want Strip. I don't think Noah is on the block. Would love him too but just do not see him being moved. There are no trade rumors at all about the guy here.
Yeah, it has not been reported that the Mets are shopping him. It's speculation on some media that if they fall out of contention and with one more year of arbitration left now would be the time to get the most for him.

No man, he is not Adam Dunn. Adam Dunn struck out 200 time per year. Joc really cut down on his strikeouts, down to 20% rate last year.
Dunn would hit .210 or less and strike out once every 3 times up.
Night and day.

Joc strikeouts last 3 seasons.
264 strikeouts in 1,280 plate appearances. That's 20.6%
Even Cody strikes out more than that.

It's simply amazing how bad Moreno's judgement is. Yeah, never got that albatross contract for Pujols when they needed more than just Albert to contend and didn't get trading for another big money guy like Justin Upton either. He's done good with Trout obviously, Ohtani, and Simmons and we'll see with Rendon.

I guess Adam Dunn is a little harsh since he walks way more. But, we'll disagree. He is not elite that's my opinion.

Yeah things could change this summer if they fall out of it quickly but that probably won't happen. They will be a decent team this year.
Brody said he's not being traded this offseason. Can't blame him.

Agree he's not an elite player.. He is an elite platoon player though. His production as a part timer is as good as any platoon player in the league. I really don't mind keeping him in that role. He makes the team better.

There’s too many guys on the 40 man roster now. Someone still has to go. 42 so 2 need to go. Would revisit the Indians but this time offer Joc and Strip for Brad Hand.

MLB Rumors: Red Sox Denied Dodgers Window To Negotiate Contract Extension Before Mookie Betts Trade
“The Red Sox would not grant the Dodgers a window to negotiate an extension with Betts, but he probably wouldn’t have engaged with them anyway because he wants to become a free agent after this season.”

Interesting that his last MLB game was against the Astros and he got shelled.
By BILL SHAIKINSTAFF WRITER FEB. 10, 2020 12:38 PM A former Dodgers pitcher sued the Houston Astros on Monday, alleging that the Astros’ sign-stealing scheme resulted in a pitching performance so poor that he has been unable to find a major league job since then.
In a suit filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Mike Bolsinger asked that the Astros be assessed $31 million in restitution — an amount believed to be equal to their postseason award bonuses in 2017 — and that the money be donated to charities.
The suit listed several reasons for filing in Los Angeles, including the claim that the city was “where the defendant Astros fraudulently won the 2017 World Series.”
Bolsinger, who pitched for the Dodgers in 2015-16 before joining the Toronto Blue Jays in 2017, made his last major league appearance in Houston on Aug. 4, 2017. He faced eight batters, seven of whom reached base. He also threw 29 pitches — with 12, according to the suit, preceded by the bangs on a trash can that have since been revealed to be the indicator sounds used to alert the Astros batters.

It would be a crime for him to be just a rental, our first true leadoff hitter since Steve Sax.

It would be a crime for him to be just a rental, our first true leadoff hitter since Steve Sax. I would be totally shocked if this happened and look for Betts to be the one year rental of the 2020 season. We’ve already seen Friedman and company balk at multi-year deals for three of the best in the game over the last two seasons. No reason in the world to believe that is going to change for Mookie, even if he singlehandedly transforms these guys into World Champs in 2020, which is also highly unlikely. He may or may not have any impact whatsoever. But he ain’t gettin’ no 10 - 12 year deal out of the Dodgers. Bank on that. GO DODGERS!!!
