This is the freaking postseason - put your BEST defense in their best positions. We have a plethora of excellent outfielders but only one EXCELLENT first baseman. Pure and simple, Bellinger should be on first for EVERY game of EVERY series. GO DODGERS!!! FUCK THAT, defense doesn't win championships, fucking hitting the ball and scoring runs wins championships. David freese needs to play everygame. Thats why he's on the team, for this very time. last years playoffs 364/.423 /773 /1.196 plus he has a world series mvp to his resume. this years splits vs right handers (which houston has a lot of) 361 /435 /738 /1.173 vs lefthanders .287 .385 .515 .900 he also hit more homers against right handers
Put down that crack pipe! In the first place, scoring runs is great, but you seem to think that preventing the other team from scoring doesn't matter. With your "logic", you'd probably prefer Bill Russell at SS over Seagar. Russell was good in the clutch, but made many dumb, often untimely errors at SS. The AL reminds me of the NFC in football back in the 90's when whomever came out of the NFC would clobber it's AFC opponent in the Super Bowl. At least it feels like the AL has dominated the NL in recent years. Maybe it's because the Dodgers have lost two in a row, IDK.

I'll stick with what I said, scoring more runs than the other team is what counts, you can't score runs on defense. freese at first base is not going to hurt us. now if it were Joc, different story. Freese hits in the playoffs, it's a sure thing. just as sure as bellinger sucking in the playoffs is. |

Have to make stops on defense and have to score run(s) in order to win a game. I also think Freese is a good choice at 1B it's really not like he is Joc there LOL. |

That’s exactly what Freese did in Game 1 against the Sox and it put us in a hole that we never recovered from and set the tone for the entire series. Defense may not WIN us a lot of games, but it certainly can LOSE them. I hope I’m wrong as I am much of the time. But when JT or Seager short hop a throw or two over to Freese, which I think we all know will happen, I’d have a helluva lot more confidence in Bells digging those throws out than I will in a guy that’s been on and off the IL most of the year and played in less than half the games. While his offensive stats are impressive, there’s certainly no guarantee he continues to rake like that in the postseason. Pitching and defense might just be the two things that win the series this year. We’ll obviously need to do better at the plate than we saw against Boston. But if our starters and pen of late pitch to their capabilities, perhaps we won’t need to score six or seven every night to put us in the W column. Eleven more wins to go and it all starts tonight. Ferris needs to set the tone early, stay out of high pitch counts to each batter and have another one of those 15 K outings. That would be sweet! GO DODGERS!!! |

I'd still rather have Gonsolin over a guy with a vague injury or illness. If Kelly wasn't making $25,000,000 there's no doubt Tony gets the nod over Joe. It better work out or Friedman will look like he was trying to justify that expenditure at the cost of the team's chances. |

Gonsolin is not on the roster for the National League Division Series against the Nationals.
After posting a 2.93 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP over 11 appearances (six starts), the 25-year-old will not be available out of the bullpen for the first series of the postseason. Dustin May will fill Gonsolin's bullpen spot for the NLDS.

You know, maybe Kelly's mystery illness is a failsafe. There might be a method to this madness. Say Kelly makes his first appearance in a postseason for us & continues sucking. Friedman would have given him his chance. On to the IL.
Enter Tony Gonsolin to save the day. Unfortunately that one sucking appearance by Joe might put the Dodgers in a hole.
I would only use him in garbage time. If there is some garbage time.
