Please don't make me lock this up. You have my word that I won't let them bait me into a dumb debate. Kershaw is #3 on this team, period. I am done here. Thanks for the polite heads up.

What might have been . . . Cards already down two - zip losing both home games to the Nats with futile hitting against superior pitching.
Just imagine if it had been us playing at the Ravine. Ryu opens the series and gives the Cards more fits than Anabel Sanchez.
Then we go with either Kershaw (who maybe ends his postseason funk after getting that one important K against the Nats and then that game getting closed out by Maeda and Kelly, as it SHOULD have been).
Or we go the “combo” route with Hill, Urias, May - whoever. Win #2 at home against the free swinging Cards.
We go into St. Louis for Game 3 tomorrow with Ferris. Gotta like our chances to move on to the World Series at that point. No way we drop four in a row and a sweep is a distinct possibility.
We’re home early and well rested for our AL opponent - NY or Houston.
I just teared up a bit.
GO DODGERS!!!

I'm already looking forward to next year with our young players. Lux, Urias, May, Gonsolin, Verdugo, Smith, maybe Ruiz, Gray & Rios. We need some resolution with Jansen of course. Guys like Seager need to prove they can stay in one piece. Kershaw has to accept a lesser role without it destroying him.
I would like to see pitching decisions rest more with Honeycutt (he's coming back, right?) than Robert's & Friedman to accept his mistakes like Kelly. Kershaw or no Kershaw, Friedman doomed the Dodgers the moment he included Kelly & omitted Gonsolin from the postseason roster.
It was a bitter ending made all the more distasteful knowing it could have been prevented.

There is chatter of who has the most value and goes this off- season Seager or Joc? I really don't see them moving Seager just yet. The team has plenty of outfielders so Joc makes the most sense. They have to bring in contact hitters and move away from the low average homerun only guys. That's a big problem in post- season for this team. Honeycutt being given the keys to pitching changes will never happen. Not under this totally analytically driven front office and manager. Sucks though.

I commented on Twitter yesterday that I don’t see management doing a whole lot, if ANYTHING this offseason.
We’ll get the usual “we won more games than in the history of the team; seven straight division titles; stay the course; a thousand points of light; yada, yada, yada”.
Not to mention the “we’re happy and confident with what we have”, as stated when everyone on Earth and beyond knew our bullpen weakness and our inability to score runs without putting balls over the fences.
There’ll be chatter we’re in on a big name free agent or two. But we’ll end up with another Pollock or Kelly and guys like Cole and Rendon will either sign elsewhere or re-sign with their current teams.
Our pen will be another smattering of no-names and “who’s this guy?” much like this year. I’d never heard of Floro, Alexander, Ferguson or Kolarek before they donned Dodger blue.
Can Charlie Hough fix the Vulture? Will Baez and / or Yumpin Yimini EVER pitch to their potentials and will either / both be back in 2020?
Then there’s our starters. Ferris & Kersh are gimmes. But that’s it. Will they EVER decide if Urias is a starter or reliever? It’s been a few years now and we’re still waiting on that decision.
Does Kenta go back into the rotation? Are May & Goose ready for Prime Time? What about Stripling? Do we try to re-sign Ryu? A WHOLE lot of questions there to be answered.
Daisy will likely “guide” us to Number Eight, but will once again be our postseason crux; even after three straight appearances, he’ll find another way to screw up a game that will likely lead to elimination.
Spring Training pitchers and catchers reporting is only a little over four months away. Hope springs eternal . . .
GO DODGERS!!!

There's always chatter every off-season about who goes where, but Seagar is a keeper. Especially those jerks in the LA Times, notably Bill Plaschke. Pay them no mind. You might recall about 11 years ago, he suggested we trade Kershaw and Matt Kemp to the Twins for Johan Santana? Well what have the two teams done since then, with that stupid trade never done? Don't be surprised if your infield is Cody/Mad Max/Lucky Lux/Cory. There has been talk about moving Cory to 3B, so maybe this off-season he'll work on that. And who knows, maybe we'll lock up Gerritt Cole for the rotation. We have plenty of starters of course, but is it wise to have so many kids in the rotation? Ferris and Kershaw for sure, and maybe Ryu, Urias, Strip? This winter will more interesting than any in recent memory.

I'm gathering info off the web from Friedman's press conference and here are some points that reference your questions and points as well. He said: That Maeda will return to the rotation in 2020, that Hill and Martin will play but it could be elsewhere (I hope), Mark Prior will be the new pitching coach Honeycutt is retiring and getting a promotion within the organization, that Kenley is the team's closer but things can change (I'm getting that he's the closer if he doesn't opt out), that the team has financial flexibility in free agency but that they should temper it much like they did in 2019, and finally that the complexion of the roster changing is something that we should expect (I'm hoping for Gerrit Cole, Verdugo's return, and more contact hitters like Verdugo).

No reason to think they replace him with Muncy or Seager just yet. At least not this but when his contract is done after this year. I'd roll with an infield like this: SS Seager 2B Lux 3B Turner 1B Muncy Outfielders I'm sure we'll have Pollock, Bellinger, Verdugo, Beaty, and Taylor and Kike or either one. The rotation I would like to have: 1. Cole 2. Buehler 3. Gonsolin 4. Kershaw 5. Maeda But who knows because May, Urias, and even to an extent Stripling can push for a rotation spot.

Frigging Nats about to go 3-0 on the Cards. Hard to fathom we aren’t in this position. All because Roberts, who is returning again, decided Maeda didn’t need to pitch till Kershaw gave up 2 back to backs. Bullshit!

He should have gotten fired simply for losing revenue for the team for home games in the NLCS and World Series. But, yeah, this goes to show us that we also need starters that can pitch past the 5th inning. @ericstephen Starting pitchers have a 2.10 ERA in the LCS, through 5 games. They lasted 6+ innings 8 of 10 times.

Kershaw sucked. Even he pitched 6.0 in innings in his lone start though. He never should have been brought in in relief. Jelly or Kelly (whatever...) should have been watching from home, & the comfort of his 'sick bed.'

We need another horse to back up Buehler. Buehler: 6.0 & 6.2 IP/ 0.036 ERA Ryu: 5.0 IP/ 3.60 ERA Kershaw: 6.0 & 0.1 IP/ 5.81 ERA Scherzer: 5.0, 1.0, 7.0, 7.0 IP/ 3.62 ERA he had a bad Wild Card start for his standards but has been getting better as the playoffs get deeper. Strasburg: 3.0, 6.0, 6.0, 7.0 IP/ 1.26 ERA Sanchez: 5.0 & 7.2 IP/ 0.94 ERA *Cole: 7.2 & 8.0 IP/ 0.29 ERA (free agent to be)

And the sweep is complete. Coulda, shoulda, woulda - can anyone explain why Maeda wasn’t used in the eighth and how Daisy is still employed as a Dodger?
