A lot of us (myself included) thought it might be best to trade Muncy this past winter because his value would never be any higher. Well, we're halfway through the 2019 season & if anything, Mad Max has gotten better. He's even improved his fielding. Perhaps it's time to put Muncy alongside Justin Turner as among the best reclamation projects of the 2000's for the Dodgers. Where would the Dodgers be without Muncy to protect Bellinger? Seager is down yet again.
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Homers twice in win
Rotowire 6H ago
Muncy went 3-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI, three runs scored, and a walk during Thursday's 12-8 win over the Rockies.
Muncy got on the board with a solo home run in the second inning and added a two-run shot in the seventh to complete his big game. He came in with just one hit in his last 12 at-bats, so perhaps a four-game set at Coors Field came at just the right time for the slugger. Muncy's OPS now sits at an impressive .932 for the season.

Have to admit that I was surprised at his defense and sneaky speed on base paths and didn't think he would be as good this year with the bat. He has seemed to have gotten better at just about everything. Glad he's on the team.

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Plates five in loss
Rotowire 7H ago
Muncy went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, five RBI, a run scored and a walk in Friday's 13-9 loss to the Rockies.
Muncy's blast came in the sixth inning to cut the score to 10-8, and he added an RBI single in the eighth inning to bring the Dodgers within one, but they were unable to tie the game. The infielder is up to 20 homers, 57 RBI and 52 runs scored in 81 games this season. He now has three homers in his last two games.

This is the thing of what I spoke about him in the off- season. His productivity outweighs anything that the team would have gotten back in a deal. He is very valuable to the team. Much more respect to him because he is now hitting in the meat of the order and is producing and is protecting hitters instead of needing protection.

Mad Max committed his 13th error today. Well, his hitting is for real. Moving around so much on defense must be dizzying.

Mad Max comes in to save Jansen’s ass again.
Suffice to say, and as much as I hate thinking and saying, perhaps it’s time for Kelly and Baez to get their shot(s) at closing a few games to see if they have the testicular fortitude (thanks, Koreman!) to shut the door in the ninth.
Move Kenley to the seventh or eighth or mop up. He was booed off the field and evidently let the fans know what he felt about them by letting the bird fly.
GO DODGERS!!!

Max Muncy, last 365 days: 40 HR, 110 RBI, 107 R, 96 BB, .267/.388/.554.
Muncy was a minor league free agent in the winter of 2017-18, so any team could have signed him. Here is his entry in last year’s #Dodgers media guide:

This is a sad day when a Dodger mainstay like Kenley Jansen is booed. Does he let it affect him in that he opts out at the end of the year? Because no one else is going to give him that kind of money.

It was reported on Twitter by several posters, but despite requests, no video(s) were produced or posted to confirm. Seems pretty unlikely, considering Kenley’s normal demeanor but you never know - getting booed like that can really get to some players and in the heat of the moment, obscene finger gestures are their answer. GO DODGERS!!!

Because no one else is going to give him that kind of money. I don’t see any chance in the world he opts out and if he continues down this ugly road he’s been on for the better part of two seasons, LA’s only hope is going to be to try to dump him on some REALLY desperate team while eating a good deal of his 2020 (and ‘21?) salaries - but what else is new? I can’t really complain about this current ownership and management because we have been contenders each and every year since their takeover from McDoufus. But DAMN - they certainly have wasted a TON of money. Just glad it wasn’t some of mine, other than the $10 Dodger dogs, $15 beers, $35 hat & $100 + warm up jersey I dropped at last year’s WS. I guess maybe it WAS some of mine, now that I think about it! 😝😝😝 GO DODGERS!!!
