I think ESPN is pretty up to date. If so, right now the Dodger bullpen has a 4.61 ERA.

Hyun Jin needs to go eight tomorrow and hopefully Jansen can come in with a two or three run lead. Lots of runs tonight usually means they will be scarce the next. GO DODGERS!!!

💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩 Pretty much says it all. GO DODGERS!!! Pretty much, but you have to admire Urias. Sure, he served up homers to the first two hitters he faced, then a single and double. But then he had runners on 2nd and 3rd and no outs (worst spot for a pitcher to be in), then got out of the jam with no further damage. I was sure the Mets would blow the game wide open. He did a similiar feat about a month ago on a Sunday game at Dodger stadium. That's just plain great pitching. I can't for the life of me figure out what's happened to our bullpen. Kelly will have a good outing, then two bad ones, and that just won't do. Baez and Floro are reliable most of the time. With Alexandar, you never know. Garcia for the most part has stablized. And as I've said before, Roberts can share the blame the way he handles the bullpen. Back in the day, we had a super bullpen. Guillermo Mota was the setup man for Eric Gagne and that tandem came thru about 98% of the time. And since we have a surplus of lefty hitting, maybe we should consider trading Pederson for a good reliever or two.

And since we have a surplus of lefty hitting, maybe we should consider trading Pederson for a good reliever or two. I gotta think Urias was simply rusty after not pitching for so long (and who’s fault is that?), so he gets a pass. And in seeing Stripling coming out of the pen his last couple of outings, I really think he struggles to get warmed up when called on and I’m not sure he’s a guy we can count on to hold or keep a game close for just an inning. Both he and Urias were said to be slated for “long relief”, yet we’ve had three games in a row where the starters have only gone six and Roberts didn’t bring either one in until after the usual parade of clowns had either put the W in jeopardy or blown the lead completely. I don’t know about you, but I’d consider three innings “long relief” and we know both of these guys can throw that long. If Doc is simply saving them to come in during an early blow-out, just how many times are they going to get in? Sure - any one of our starting five could and likely will throw a “stinker” on any given outing. But with what we’ve seen thus far in 2019 is those games are going to be few and far between. So what does he expect from these two when they haven’t thrown for several days or a week plus in game situations? You get what we’ve seen this week - two bad games for Strip and another for Urias. At this point we have NO clear cut set-up man for the eighth and let’s face facts - Jansen isn’t the “game over” Jansen we once knew and trusted with a one run lead in the ninth. I still say damn the torpedoes and go after Kimbrel with a vengeance. I’d even consider doing it now because no matter what draft pick they lose, they’re getting a PROVEN commodity and not an unknown who may or may not ever make it to the big show. Our farm is one of the best in the league with a good number of prospects we are likely to see more of in the future. Is one single pick worth giving up for Kimbrel now? I think you know my feelings on that. With him and Jansen tandeming the eighth and ninth, I doubt we’d have to hope for comebacks like last night the rest of this season, albeit we’re still going to need a LOT more out of Floro, Garcia, Baez and company. I purposely didn’t include Kelly because I don’t think he’s EVER going to be more than what we’ve seen and he’s been. A four plus ERA hack making WAY too much money for his (lack of) performances. GO DODGERS!!!

Kimbrel would want to wait it out anyway to see what the bidding would look like.

Hyun Jin with another gem and seven shut out innings. He’s right 100 pitches, so he’s very likely done for the night. Why do I get the uneasy feeling one of Doc’s doofuses (doofi?) is going to come in and give this one away?
Certainly would be nice to see a few more runs on the board this bottom half.

So much for that - but looks like Ryu is coming back out at least to start the eighth. You can bet the house Jansen will be warming up and if someone reaches, Doc will push the usual panic button and ask Kenley for another multi-inning save.
It may have worked the other night, but the odds are certainly against it working again tonight, especially with Jansen’s almost Dr. Jeckell / Mr. Hyde appearances this season. I’m feeling queasy!

Kenley with the high cheese - luckily it was WAY out of the zone. 91 mph is going to get tagged more often than not. Perhaps LA can eke another run or so out and take a little pressure off Jansen’s ninth.

As much as I hate it when I’m right, I LOVE it when I’m wrong when it comes to these guys. They just keep finding ways to win and while Jansen still makes me nervous with a one or two run lead, I can appreciate him working in that nasty curve ball in his repertoire.
Like Kersh, he can’t throw mid to high 90’s anymore and is having to reinvent himself and his pitch selection. A curve like those he threw tonight make that cutter look a lot faster than the 90 - 91 mph crossing the plate.

GO DODGERS!!! I thought Ryu should have been left in to finish the 8th. As soon as Dave brought in Jansen the Mets brought in Dominic Smith who is a better hitter anyway. I don't like Jansen being used multiple innings in the regular season if it's not necessary.

Ryu like Bellinger is having a fantastic beginning to the season. Both who are Boras clients by the way. With Hill's contract coming to an end I would love for the team to extend Ryu until age 35. When healthy he has always pitched great.

I see Doc FINALLY brought Stripling into the game in the seventh last night after Kenta threw a serviceable six.
Some “long relief”! Yanks him for Joan in the eighth and then Floro (who naturally gives up a run) in the ninth, necessitating Jansen having to come in and close out the game.
Four pitchers for three innings that very likely could have been completed by one of our two “long relievers”
If this is the “new” plan, I can’t wait for October. Perhaps someone should remind Doc of last year when our MUCH better pen (IMHO) was “too pooped to pop” against the Sox.
As bad as this pen has been thus far, just imagine how much worse they’ll be after another four months of constant overuse by “Captain Strategy”. SMH!!!
