Seems like DDF II comments a month or so back regarding the return of Hill this season (he was not expected) were a bit premature. Anyone here shocked by this development? Seventh title in a row - ho hum! How about we put it ALL together in October and win eleven before our opponents do? GO DODGERS!!! My first concern is Kenta getting all his bonus money. Then we can worry about the team's welfare.

Oh yeah. And the city of Los Angeles & Dodger fans everywhere. They come right after Maeda's bonus money. I don't mind another year of watching grainy footage of Kirk Gibson fist pumping.

I'm totally so annoyed about that rerun...Enough already. I wonder if Walter or Peter O'Malley would have bored us to death with reruns of 1965 until 1981 if the means had been available. Buehler now owns a 3.14 ERA. Free Kenta Maeda!!

Maeda allows a 1.11 WHIP as a starter. Not bad at all. But it's 0.56 as a reliever. NO walks in 9 innings. 9.7 SO/9 as opposed to 13.0 SO/9.

If he leads us to our first title in three plus decades via the pen, I’ll start a GoFundMe account for his bonus! Los Angeleans are known for their generosity, right? Hell - Bud & Mary could probably write him a cheque on their own without it even making a dent in their income. GO DODGERS!!!

The way I figure it, Kenta has already made $8,150,000. He has a shot at another $250,000 for 150 innings pitched. Very reachable goal if he's used in long relief for guys like Gonsolin & Rich Hill. He might even make another $500,000. The latter would bring his total to $8,650,000. He also has this...
'Four round-trip business-class airline tickets between Japan and LA annually. Interpreter. Travel expenses, accommodations, visa costs for a player support staff member.'
Then there's postseason money.
No. The Dodgers must be doing this just to cheat Maeda. We have SUCH a strong pen that his inclusion therein is totally superfluous.

At the most, another $1.5 mil had he gotten another four starts to reach 30. Doubt very seriously he would have gotten to 32 starts for another $1.5. FAR too many others we can and have used throughout the year that have out performed Kenta to keep him as a permanent fixture in the starting five. Does he get 32 starts with another club? Probably. But while he’s a decent number three on most of the other 29 teams (perhaps even a two on more than a few), he simply doesn’t fill that role or position in LA. At this point, I’d consider him no more than a five or six, with Ryu, Kersh, Ferris, Goose and probably Hill all being in front of him. Strip and May, in limited use would probably be the only two I’d put behind Kenta. I’d sure like to see a NEW highlight clip of our MVP Bellinger rounding the bases (fist pump optional) in mid-October. Much as I love Gibby, a “replacement” is LONG overdue! GO DODGERS!!!

Even on another club, 32 starts would be a stretch in a five man rotation. There’s only 162 games and each of the five would literally have to make EVERY start to get to 32.
I doubt that’s ever been done in the history of the game. Somebody’s going to get hurt (Kenta included); guys will get skipped and / or extra starts due to off days (possible, but not likely for Kenta), etc.
I’m not sure how many total innings he has averaged in LA, but I’m gonna guess it’s more than what he was used to in Japan. He looked totally gassed in that WS game 4 and the bases clearing triple was a sure sign of that.
Dude was pretty much stellar thru the playoffs, pitching multiple innings on multiple days with little to no rest. But by the time he got back to the Ravine, he was pretty much cooked.
Here’s hoping we get him a ring this year - he could probably get $1.5 mil from the Pawn Stars for it.
GO DODGERS!!!

Hopefully shit-stirring sportswriters saw why the Dodgers might shift Maeda to the bullpen this afternoon. Doubtful though. They have their own worthless jobs to worry about. Sell those papers. Some people still use them to line litter boxes.

Some people still use them to line litter boxes. Six runs in four innings by the Cirque d’ LA against one of the worst teams in the league. Kelly keeping his ERA in the mid-fours at $7 mil a year. Ferguson donating three to the cause. Yeah - no help needed there. GO DODGERS!!!

Maeda now has a 2.70 ERA out of the pen.
