Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Another rehab start on tap
Rotowire Apr 6, 2019
Manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Kershaw (shoulder) will make another minor-league rehab start, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Kershaw had a successful bullpen session Saturday to set the table for his second rehab start next week, though it has not been determined if he will head to Double-A Tulsa or Triple-A Oklahoma City. The veteran left-hander threw 61 pitches over 4.1 innings during his first rehab start Thursday, so he should continue ramping up his workload from there. If all goes well, Kershaw could seemingly return to the majors for his 2019 debut shortly thereafter.
Dodgers' Rich Hill: Completes bullpen session Rotowire Apr 6, 2019
Hill (knee) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Saturday, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Hill appeared to throw with normal effort on his sprained left knee. The Dodgers have yet to announce the next step in his rehab.

Another nice win. Now 7-2. If not for the inconsistent bullpen we would be 9-0.
Just wait until they fix that.
Like tonight, we are up 5-1, guy on first. Caleb comes in the game and walks the guy on 4 pitches. WTF!!!!

Yeah, the Reds are a mess right now.
Puig is hitting .125 so far, glad he’s happy...
Oh, his OPS is .359. Outstanding!

Yeah, the Reds are a mess right now. Puig is hitting .125 so far, glad he’s happy... Oh, his OPS is .359. Outstanding! And Kemp is hitting .050 with 10 Ks in 20 ABS! I was a huge Kemp fan back in his heyday before the injury bug started to bite him. But what of it? "What have you done for me lately?" is the question that even Col Rupert asked the Babe in '35. Kemp and Puig have both proven to be dead weight and the Reds will be lucky to finish in 4th place, which MLB.com have predicted. So we got three minor leaguers who may never see a single game in the bigs, plus Homer Baily. I still don't understand why he was included in the package, especially since he was DFA'd the next day?

Homer was “dead weight” for the Reds and was owed $30 million over this and next year. NO WAY the Reds do this deal without us taking him. It was basically our dead weight for theirs with us ending up saving around six or seven mil based on what was owed to Kemp, Puig and Wood. I really thought Puig would rake in the sandbox here in Cincy, but I guess his prediction of having the best year of his career thus far has turned out to be more baseless (pun intended) boasting by a dude I once really liked and supported. Kemp - you could see him start to decline after the All Star break last year and I was never a huge fan of Wood. His consistency was all over the map. He’d look great for a game or three and then get rocked the same way. People here in Cincy were TOTALLY gaga over this trade and felt it (along with the two other starters they picked up) made the Reds instant contenders for the division. Again, it’s still very early, but there’s no way in hell they even sniff a wild card. Cubs, Cards, Brewers and very likely Pirates all finish ahead of the perennial cellar dweller Redlegs. GO DODGERS!!!

GO DODGERS!!! I think the true keys to the trade on our end were Puig & Wood. Yasiel was disruptive. His comments about not really trying after the deal was done were indicative of the influence he had in the Dodger clubhouse. How well would that have gone over with guys like Turner & Kershaw? Remember that Clayton had made a concerted effort to bond with Puig at one time. Dave Roberts must have been in a quandary as to what to do with his mercurial outfielder. Friedman, we already know how Andrew felt. He was the one who rubber stamped Puig getting sent back down to the minors. Then he shopped Yasiel & found no takers. From a performance standpoint, Puig slashed .297 / .357 / .564 vs. righties in 2018. .209 / .268 / .360 against lefties. The year before he posted .183 / . 317 / .275 vs. southpaws. It was no fluke. The new & improved Yasiel Puig that Turner Ward churned out was feeble against lefthanders. Since we seem to be getting away from the strict platooning of earlier years, perhaps that was more Farhan Zaidi's strategy than Andrew Friedman's. But look at the production we got out of guys like Joc Pederson last year, & again so far this year. How can you possibly platoon when the righthanded side of the platoon swings like a little girl? Wood wanted to start. He didn't like a bullpen role. He was going to arbitration again. He got close to ten million dollars. Put that in the kitty. The Dodgers had Walker Buehler & Julio Urias, among others who could MORE than fill Wood's role, & at a fraction of the cost. So far this year Julio has pitched both as a starter & out of the bullpen (spring training). Of course he would rather be a starter. He's a total stud (despite Sue not liking him because he's cockeyed). Wood is on the DL. Again. Kemp, I believe the Dodgers were just glad to get rid of him after a renaissance season. He's horrible defensively & they obviously didn't think it was likely he'd have a repeat performance. Farmer was a throw-in. The Reds have gotten more out of Kyle than Matt & Yasiel put together. So in Dodgerville, we're stuck watching bomb after bomb fly over the fence. If it wasn't for that dad blasted bullpen we would be undefeated.

Dodgers' Alex Verdugo: Launches second homer
Rotowire 2H ago
Verdugo went 2-for-4 with a triple, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Rockies.
Making only his second start of the season, Verdugo popped his second homer in the seventh inning off a fading Jon Gray. The 22-year-old is pushing hard for more playing time with a .438/.438/1.063 slash line so far, but it would likely take an injury to one of the Dodgers' starting outfielders for Verdugo to see significant action.
Dodgers' Kenley Jansen: Notches fourth save
Rotowire 12H ago
Jansen gave up a hit and struck out two over 1.1 scoreless innings to record his fourth save of the season in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Rockies.
The Dodgers added two insurance runs in the top of the ninth, giving Jansen plenty of cushion even for an appearance in Coors Field. The 31-year-old has yet to allow a run in 5.1 innings with a 6:1 K:BB, and as long as he can avoid the health issues that have affected him in the past, Jansen should remain one of baseball's elite closers.

Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Grabs win in Rotowire 12H ago
Buehler (1-0) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks over five innings while striking out four in a 7-2 victory over the Rockies.
The right-hander got a fairly early hook despite his effectiveness, throwing 50 of 79 pitches for strikes, but it's understandable the Dodgers wouldn't want to press Buehler's luck at Coors Field. He'll look to keep building momentum in his next outing Thursday in St. Louis.

Farmer was a throw-in. Agree. For some reason team looks more like a team now that Puig is out of here. Wood in spite of what lucipher claimed will never be an ace. Too inconsistent. Matty well he is on his last leg so to speak. Farmer no one will notice. Urias is turning into a total stud. I am rooting for him and Buehler to be the next episode and get us that ring. I told the penguin and others that Bellinger would supplant Puig adequately in RF. Of course the penguin knows nothing and disagreed lol.
