What do you want Kimbrel for? Jansen is a great closer. True, he had an off-year, but he had heart trouble and this year he'll bounce back. I don't know why Kimbrel is still unsigned. After seeing Joe Kelly blow three leads in two games, why WOULDN’T we want Kimbrel? I’d have given him the $25 mil over two they gave to Kelly for three. Jansen is a free agent after this year and even if he re-signs, we still end up with two of the premier late innings pitchers in the league for two FULL years. I haven’t been impressed by Kelly and doubt that I will be. His lifetime ERA is nearly four and that doesn’t exactly scream “ace”, especially when it comes to holding leads, which he’s yet to do thus far in blue. Dude has one decent postseason against us and all of a sudden he’s the second coming of Nolan Ryan. MLB batters can hit 100+ mph fastballs when they know that’s all a pitcher has. Just ask Joe Kelly. GO DODGERS!!! We're five games into the season and you've already given up on Kelly? Take a chill pill will you?

MLB rumors: Free agent Craig Kimbrel still drawing interest from these teams

MLB rumors: Free agent Craig Kimbrel still drawing interest from these teams originally appeared on nbcsportsboston.com
It's hard to believe, but free-agent closer Craig Kimbrel still is unsigned with the MLB regular season underway.
The 30-year-old reliever helped the Boston Red Sox win a World Series in 2018, and statistically he's one of the best closers of this era.
Teams are still checking in on him, though. Here's the latest on Kimbrel's situation, per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
The Mets and Brewers are among the other clubs that have checked in on Keuchel, though the Brewers remain more interested in the other top remaining free agent, reliever Craig Kimbrel, sources say. The Mets continue to call on both Keuchel and Kimbrel as a matter of due diligence, and other contenders are taking the same approach, not wanting to be caught unaware if an opportunity arises; the Rays have stayed in touch on Kimbrel as well, sources say.
The Brewers would be a good fit for Kimbrel. They are a legitimate National League pennant and World Series contender, and his addition would make an already strong bullpen even more formidable. Playing for a contender also could improve his value and allow him to showcase his talents with the hopes of landing a better contract in the winter.
Kimbrel posted a 2.74 ERA with a 0.99 WHIP, 96 strikeouts and 31 walks over 62 1/3 innings for the Red Sox last year. He didn't pitch particularly well in the playoffs with a 5.91 ERA, but he did tally six saves in Boston's championship run.
It's hard to imagine Kimbrel being unsigned for much longer given the fact that most teams, particularly contenders, are always looking for bullpen help.

If he was a proven commodity, I’d be more than happy to chill. But he’s not. A lifetime ERA just south of four is not someone I’m comfortable with coming into a game with a one or two run lead.
Two losses out of five lay directly on his shoulders. I know we’re not going to go 162 - 0, but we could very easily be 5 - 0 to start the season without Mr. Kelly’s “contributions” - or should I say lack thereof?
I know a gascan when I see one and this dude has all of the components of Hatchet job from a few years ago. He has basically one pitch that he can throw consistently for a strike and that’s his fastball.
If batters know that, and believe me they do or will, they can sit there every AB waiting on it. And more times than not, they will tee it up. As we’ve already witnessed in his two appearances.
GO DODGERS!!!

Dodgers' Julio Urias: Will go back to bullpen
Rotowire Apr 2, 2019
Urias will go back to the bullpen when either Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) or Rich Hill (knee) return to the rotation, Alanna Rizzo of SportsNetLA reports.
Urias was excellent in his first start of the season, holding the Giants to no runs and striking out seven over five innings, but manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday the 22-year-old will be headed to a relief role when either of the club's injured veterans return to action. This would put a significant damper on his value whenever it takes place, although Urias can continue to make a case as a first-choice option to get back in the rotation in the event of another injury should he continue to pitch well in the absence of Kershaw and Hill.
Dodgers' Rich Hill: Slated for bullpen session
Rotowire Apr 2, 2019
Hill (knee) will throw a bullpen session Saturday in Denver, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
It's an expected development for the veteran left-hander, who told reporters Monday that he was feeling better after throwing off flat ground. With Saturday's bullpen session now officially on the docket, it will be the next step in determining a timeline for a return for Hill as he continues to work his way back from his strained left knee.

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Platoon continues
Rotowire Apr 2, 2019
Pederson remains on the bench Tuesday against the Giants, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Pederson has taken a seat in three of the Dodgers' first six games as the Dodgers have faced three lefties. Chris Taylor starts in left field with southpaw Madison Bumgarner on the mound.
Dodgers' Austin Barnes: Back on bench
Rotowire Apr 2, 2019
Barnes will head to the bench Tuesday against the Giants, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
The Dodgers have alternated games between Austin Barnes and Russell Martin behind the plate so far this season. Martin takes his turn Tuesday, but expect Barnes back in the lineup Wednesday if the pattern continues.

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Back in lineup Tuesday Rotowire Apr 2, 2019
Muncy is starting at first base and hitting seventh against the Giants on Tuesday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Muncy sat out Monday, but he's back in action for this tilt against the Giants and Madison Bumgarner. He had an .890 OPS over 102 at-bats against left-handed pitching in his breakout season last year, and he'll look to get his bat rolling in this contest as he's just 2-for-16 to start 2019.
Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Raking to start season
Rotowire Apr 2, 2019
Hernandez went 2-for-4 out of the leadoff spot in a 4-2 loss to the Giants on Tuesday and is now hitting .375 with two home runs over his first 16 at-bats.
It marked the second time in five games that Hernandez has led off, with Joc Pederson handling the role in the other three. Regardless of where he's hit in the lineup, the 27-year-old has been raking thus far in 2019, and Pederson's poor numbers against left-handed pitching seem to be giving Hernandez a path to the top of the order in matchups against southpaws.

Dodgers' Zach McAllister: Catches on with Dodgers Rotowire 7H ago
McAllister agreed to a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Monday, the Peoria Journal Star reports.
McAllister was released by the Rangers prior to Opening Day after the team informed him he wouldn't break camp with the big club. After three stellar years in relief for the Indians from 2015 through 2017, McAllister fell on hard times last season, posting a 6.20 ERA and 1.49 WHIP over 44 appearances between Cleveland and Detroit. The Dodgers don't have an immediate opening in their bullpen, so he'll likely have to prove himself at Triple-A Oklahoma City before receiving a look with the big club.

Kimbrel looking better and better by the minute. Jansen in his usual early season funk. I still don’t think he’s been the same since he blew that WS game against Houston.
And all those two inning games Doc kept insisting he throw - dude is very hittable.

And the D pulls off the double play to end it. No way it should have been that close.
Bulldog hit the nail on the head the other day when he posted our pen is the Achilles heel of this team. Lots of room for improvement there and if Kimbrel can be had, management would be wise to pursue him.
Move Kenley to the set-up guy - maybe take some of that pressure off him. For a guy some were comparing to Mariano a couple of years ago, his star has definitely fallen. The cutter isn’t cutting and a low 90’s fastball isn’t exactly screaming “elite” closer.

Don't look at me! Grand Salami by Cody Bellinger against the lefty Bumgarner! Madison arguing with the umpire now. Yeah how 'bout that! Suddenly, he can hit lefties, and that slam off one of the best of them! A few days ago, Cody had an RBI single off a D-Back lefty, and it wasn't a cheapy either. As Vinny said several years ago, it's usually the 3rd year that a hitter really becomes a star.

If any reliever should be DFA'd it should be Yimi Garcia. I don't even know why he's on the roster. Every time he takes the mound I get nervous. He's been that way for the past two seasons. As for us getting Kimbrel, I think we have to worry about going over the line and having to pay luxury tax.

As for us getting Kimbrel, I think we have to worry about going over the line and having to pay luxury tax. Yumpin Yimini? Yeah - I won’t disagree with you on that one. But this entire bullpen is a bit of a mess and that was apparent in Glendale. I know Spring Training games don’t mean a lot, but it seems to me they lost more than a few games in the later innings after having leads and that reflects directly on the pen. Jansen looked VERY shaky last night as he has for over a year now. He used to be untouchable - the second coming of Gagne. Now I get nervous when HE gets the call. Our offense is looking great and our starters (other than Buehler’s melt down) have been solid this first week. But the bullpen needs help and hopefully getting Kersh & Hill back will allow Strip & Urias to fill some glaring holes there. I agree Kimbrel would likely put us over the cap, but considering the $50 mil they threw away on Bailey & Kelly, maybe they should think about loosening the purse strings and taking the hit. After all - wasn’t Harper supposed to sign with us? From what I heard and read, they were up to $45 mil a year over four years. Not saying Kimbrel is Harper by ANY means, but if they could pay that to Harper and obviously blow the cap, why not at least take a stab at one of the best available pitchers still unsigned? GO DODGERS!!!
