And I really hope Roberts doesn't try stretching Jansen out again.

www.espn.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=401074790It took him 20 pitches, but Adam Ottavino had a clean frame for the Yankees. Didn't he just get 2 million dollars more than Kelly? Think so. Gary Sanchez has three errors already? Wow. That's scary bad.

The Dodgers starters have a 3.12 ERA and .208 BAA. The bullpen has a 6.65 ERA and .298 BAA. This is such a good team. It would be a terrible shame if it was wasted because the front office gambled on two many question marks.
Sounds like the Brewers are the most interested team in Kimbrel.

What do you want Kimbrel for? Jansen is a great closer. True, he had an off-year, but he had heart trouble and this year he'll bounce back. I don't know why Kimbrel is still unsigned. The biggest weekness of our pitching is Roberts. He just pushes the panic button way too often. A long or middle reliever will come into a game in, say, the 4th inning, our team takes a comfortable lead. Meanwhile that pitcher pitches three great innings, then in 7th, he allows just a single. Out comes Roberts from the dugout with the hook. He really mis-managed the pitching staff in the WS!

A few quick observations, 1- LOVE AJ Pollock. He makes us better.2- Belli going the other way against the shift is tremendous. Obviously he worked on that this winter. If this continues he is on the verge of superstardom. 3- the patience this team has at the plate is remarkable. I will say it again. Absolutely, I loved the player but because of losing a pick if he was signed I was skeptical. This outfield of Joc- Taylor/ Pollock/ Bellinger is much better than Joc- Taylor/ Bellinger/ Puig that jeremy wanted Puig is hitting .091 by the way, yes it's early but still.

Dodgers' A.J. Pollock: Drives in two runs Davey is stuck on Kike leading off. I would prefer Pollock since I thought that's the reason why he was signed. I get that Pollock has been delivering down the order but still, I don't think Kike will work leading off.

I guess the only knock can be that the front office hasn't spent on relievers and tries to strike gold in reclamation projects. I mean I get it because they are so inconsistent from year to year but I guess it's time to move away from guys that blow up in big moments like Baez, Madson, etc.

I think that is why he started stretching out Jansen. He needs a couple of other guys that can pitch in big moments. Once if the front office does that then it will be totally on Dave.

@bnightengale
The #SFGiants acquire OF Kevin Pillar from #Bluejays for RHP Juan DePaula, IF Alen Hanson and RHP Derek Law. The Giants designate OF Michael Reed for assignment to make room for Pillar on the roster.

Kid pitched excellent - got himself in and out of a couple of jams. Not sure how many pitches he threw and again, I realize it’s still very early and these guys are still not up to full strength. But five or six innings out of every starter isn’t going to cut it - especially with the bullpen we appear to be stuck with at this time. They’re going to lose a lot of winnable games and / or games we have the lead in before Doc hands them the ball. GO DODGERS!!!

After seeing Joe Kelly blow three leads in two games, why WOULDN’T we want Kimbrel? I’d have given him the $25 mil over two they gave to Kelly for three. Jansen is a free agent after this year and even if he re-signs, we still end up with two of the premier late innings pitchers in the league for two FULL years. I haven’t been impressed by Kelly and doubt that I will be. His lifetime ERA is nearly four and that doesn’t exactly scream “ace”, especially when it comes to holding leads, which he’s yet to do thus far in blue. Dude has one decent postseason against us and all of a sudden he’s the second coming of Nolan Ryan. MLB batters can hit 100+ mph fastballs when they know that’s all a pitcher has. Just ask Joe Kelly. GO DODGERS!!!

GO DODGERS!!! This. It isn't the first time Jansen has had heart trouble. Does anyone really trust his health? He shouldn't even travel to Colorado, & they're shaping up to be our main rivals. What about days Kenley has pitched twice in a row already? There would be save opportunities for Kimbrel too. Not that it's even necessary. GM's don't seem to put as much credence in strictly defined roles anymore. Everyone knows Craig is a Hall of Fame caliber reliever. Really wanted Ottavino & was disappointed with the Kelly acquisition. Adam filled in so many of the dots on our wish list. Plenty of time left for Joe to turn it around. Just had a sinking feeling when he entered the game. Then Roberts brought him back out & I was like - "NO!" Where do I get a hair on fire emoticon?
